Nice. I gave a thumbs up. For others who watched, I too assume he screwed the planks in the ceiling, to the support beams. Otherwise, I would think it defeats the purpose for support. I'd think that's more important than to place the bag some inches in a different location

Ok so i have a 10 feet Unistrut channel with trolleys on it to hung a 90lbs punching bag and 70lbs round punching bag to roll them out of the way.. Should I bolt the unistrut channel straight to the garage ceiling joist or should I bolt down a 2x4 or 2x6 board first to ceiling then bolt down unistrut Chanel to board?? I want to use channel for the 2 punching bags, rings and a climbing rope. My ceilings are 8ft high. Thank u Also what kind of bolts should I use and do I need washers too?

You mean snap hook. Just go to your local hardware store & ask for it. They will show you bunch of options. Do let them know what will you be using it for and they might be able to suggest the right one.. cheers

You could have just put the support beam on top of the two boards instead if screwing Into them. The weight will distribute well.

so what holds the bolt on there? is there some type of nut or something on top

There's a pre-installed hook in the ceiling in the wood. I have a feeling it's not a good idea to place it there
@jroscoe134 жыл бұрын
i have a two story house and the master bedroom is above the garage so i don't have access to the beams at the top of my garage like you do. the ceiling is covered with drywall like your is so the beams aren't visible. i can find the beams with a stud finder, do you think this is not a good idea to attach from the bottom only? can i trust the beam i find to support a 70 or 80 lbs bag?
@QuickDIY4 жыл бұрын
You can do the same what I did from outside instead of going over if you know what I mean distribute the weight between to beams. The only difference will be the bolt you will be using as you cannot fasten it from the other side. Check with your local hardware store to see what sort of bolts they recommend.

I would've placed it somewhere that I could have gotten a top board across the top of the joists for the eye bolt to go through instead of something nailed or screwed to the side of the joists. If you moved the timber you installed at 0:55 about a foot in either direction it should have cleared the rafter although you'd probably need an eye bold that was a little longer. If you have a deck on your house you'll notice that the rim joists are sitting on the posts or notched into them instead of being screwed to them (assuming it was build correctly). Its so the weight is on the post and not on the hardware. Same concept here. Otherwise a good install here, and I'm probably just nitpicking.

I've worked out on traditional heavy bags kzbin.infoUgkxp9-sf95nqfjey-uyzxUzQ7m9MXRPK1BE a spherical stuffed "wrecking ball" bag, and now this thing. What I like about it is that it has the heft to stay largely in place so I'm not chasing it around. It's tall enough to allow for headshots and body shots, but it's short enough to give an uppercut somewhere to land. I'm very happy so far. Filling it was a bit of a cluster. For top-offs, I've learned that you can screw the supplied nozzle onto any basic plastic water bottle. I can't speak to durability as I've only had it a week.

Hey do you know if this works for wooden beams in a basement? I can't get to the top of the wooden beam like you
@fahed25444 жыл бұрын
You’ll probably just need to drill more screws to hang your bag from, if you don’t have a thick wooden beam then you’ll need to spread the burden of the weight out over more screws across your thinner beam

If I live near and your still looking for help a year later, and I can come train on it any time I like... I live in an apartment in a multi story building ... management is unlikely to give me access to the joist way... so I'd have to use a different method... currently, I drag my bag to the park and hang it frim a tree, use it, and then drag it back home all by foot, as I can see the park from my window.

I can generally see what you did with the load bearing timber in the attic, and it has pointed me in the right direction. It's interesting to note that in the video, your hand gestures suggest that you actually were talking about the mount, but muted it in favor of the music. Maybe add an annotation, going over how many screws, tips for drilling from both sides of the mount (which is what I'm assuming you did) etc, etc. Otherwise, helpful video. Thank ya.
