I quite enjoy openings like the Lasker where you get to somewhat decide how the game will go, since most players won't just accept the draw it provokes a lot of dubious lines, as well as these openings are more punishing to inaccurate play if they don't know theory

Why don’t you publish these studies so that we can memorize the variations more easily without need to skip around

"If you're playing a game and not trying to win then you shouldn't be playing chess". And yet you play the Caro-Kann. Anyway, who says black is not trying to win playing the Lasker? Interestingly, Karpov made a comment in an interview a couple of days ago. He said; "You can play the Caro-Kann to draw, or you can play the Caro-Kann to win. I played the Caro-Kann to win."
@DanacChess6 ай бұрын
Actually the caro-kann is used as a weapon to win on the top level because it is imbalanced

In the 1907 Lasker-Marshall match, Lasker did not include 6...h6 7.Bh4 before playing Ne5. Lasker did not play that position until much later in his life, 1935

Great video as always. This opening reminds me of the exchange ruy Lopez where it can be used as a very effective physiological weapon just like the exchange ruy in lasker vs capablanca 1914

Play puzzles and play through positions in your head. Doesn't have to be complex. Try to avoid using the board. Just imagine the position.

Cant you avoid the lasker with an early Rc1?
@tomekduresov7064 жыл бұрын
I lost 1 game as black when my opponent played early Qc2 preventing the Lasker Ne4, and that threw me of a bit and I misplayed everything, what I missed it is that Ne4 was still possible becouse of the Qb4+ at the end, so white cant really win the pawn..

@@tomekduresov706 I have this opening book by borislav ivkov and the line that prevents the lasker goes something like this: d4 d5 c4 e6 Nc3 Nf6 Bg5 Be7 Nf3 (or e3) and after black castles you go Rc1, after h6 Bh4 Ne4 Bxe7 Qxe7 cxd5 Nxc3 Rxc3 and exd5 youve got a really easy position to play with good winning chances because youre pretty much all set for a queenside attack because youll own the whole c file for pretty much rest of the game

I usually play 7... Nbd7 and 8... c5 against this setup despite being a Lasker player
@tomekduresov7064 жыл бұрын
@@siraf1234 but it is still very solid for black and tough to prove anything with white, the best way to avoid the Lasker is to avoid those Bg5 lines and play tje Catalan, Bf4 variation or something like it..
