So as a chemist as soon as I saw that the propellant they were using wasn’t flammable my thought was: but the only nonflammable propellants for cans are the old ozone destroying CFCs. They do not react under normal conditions and are therefore not flammable. We don’t use those anymore because of the extreme environmental damage they cause. Sure enough MONAT is supposedly using tetrafloropropene. This is a 4th generation refrigerant that is less harmful than earlier CFCs but is still being phased out because of its terrible environmental impact. So I guess they think holes in the ozone and high contributions to global warming is good?! Reading a little further this is a pretty new chemical and there isn’t even data on what it’s really doing in the upper atmosphere though it is suspected to break down to…. ? It is still recommended that these chemicals are reserved for industrial applications that cannot use an alternative not hair care.

This is totally crazy! This is what Monat huns need to know! i’m tired of seeing their TickTock‘s where they tried to demonstrate the superiority of their products with an open flame, only they’re really showing us their products actually use a chemical that is highly harmful to the environment! The word needs to get out about this. Thank you so much for teaching us this!

Safety tip: if you are close to an open flame, your hair should be put in a pony or a bun to prevent anything since your hair by itself is highly flammable. (This is the #1 rule in most of the classes I have taken as a bio major student.) I was really afraid that they were just letting their hair flow around the experiment. I really enjoy your videos, also thank you for teaching how aerosols work!

I wasn't particularly good at it, but I learnt to juggle with torches about ten years ago, and yes, properly tied hair and 100% cotton clothes were the two major rules, even for people who came just to watch, or to juggle with the LED balls. Leggings and stretchy pants are probably not the best pick when you want to spray stuff on a flame all day, for them and for the people they fetched in their door to door gimmick.

Seriously, the reason these people aren’t all messed up from essential oils is because their essential oils are all diluted. Frankincense is NOT an oil u can put on your skin “neat” these ladies have so little clue of what an essential oil is it blows my mind sometimes. “It’s not made of chemicals” yes yes it is, and the way to figure out if an oil is of a good quality is by looking at its chemical composition. Which young living & its baby scam company doterra don’t provide. The things they say that “prove it’s better” are actually indications it’s worse. Well made essential oils are extremely strong & it’s not a good idea to just rub a dub on your skin. I NEVER understood the candle and hairspray/dry shampoo experiment! Like you said, many aerosol sprays and everyday items are flammable. Heck, even hair by itself is extremely flammable! Also, there’s nothing in their experiment that represents the actual hair. Maybe they could spray some human hair extensions with the products and then see which one burns faster (or something like that). Nonetheless, hopefully no one’s hair is that close to an open flame in general.

Fun fact, the *first two* ingredients in Monat's dry shampoo are Tetrafluoropropene, Alcohol Denat. That second one is short for denatured alcohol. Both are _extremely_ flammable. So just because it's not flaming for them doesn't mean it's not flammable.

Two things: 1. I appreciate that these ladies have the courage to go door to door to pitch the product. I think the way they did it was different which points to them putting effort into their work. This doesn't mean I'd want them to come to my door, I just appreciate their effort. 2. The experiment only makes sense if you are also going to whip your hair into an open flame. Or if you're a fire-dancer.

I'm about to be REAL annoying so my apologies 😂 but the product isn't flammable, so as SOON as it dries onto your hair, and the propellant is evaporated (which is pretty instant), your hair is not any more flammable than it is without the product in it. 😜

Oh, science. Thank you for the explanation of the propellants. Here’s what’s funny: they “randomly” chose dry shampoo to be the product they do an experiment with. Dry shampoo, the product itself, isn’t flammable, as you said. Hair spray, however, usually includes alcohol, which IS flammable, meaning the actual product, not the propellant that dissipates, can catch fire.. I’d put $ down that they deliberately didn’t do the experiment with hair spray - because then their specious argument would be transparent. Monat wouldn’t be any better than any other brand. But no, I’m sure it was a totally random product choice.

I had VERY busy parents growing up. Both worked 60ish hours a week. My brother and I got on the school bus at 6 am (rode it for around 2 hours every morning), got home between 3-8 pm depending on school events. My mom or dad were usually home around 7 pm. We made our own breakfast, got lunch at school, made our own after school snack, and often cooked our own dinner. I got myself up in the morning with an alarm. I had no one checking over my homework, doing my laundry the night before, or getting me out and down the driveway in the dead of winter in Northern Ohio while it was still dark. I told some older ladies this once and they seemed to think that I was a horrifically lonely and neglected child. My brother and I were very close and our parents loved us and enjoyed the time they DID spend with us. Quality over quantity I say,, and I grew up to be a confident, self-sufficient, independent adult. My brother and I are also both fantastic cooks and taught ourselves most of what we know. I'm VERY glad my parents were minimally involved in my personal or school life.

If you watch Always Marco’s Video with Robert FitzPatrick (the MLM expert) he’ll actually mention in the video that a company having no products is not an actual requirement of being a pyramid scheme, pyramid schemes can or cannot have products, but people don’t seem to understand that. Just like u said, there are product based pyramid schemes and whoever came up with the definition of a pyramid scheme being an illegal company that doesn’t sell services or products and so on, completely messed it up for everyone and makes so many people fall victim to MLM companies

That nurse was making more in an hour than the hun does in 6 mos! We can all prove it but the mlm reps will try to say I am wrong but never show proof.
