I’d say MLMs are actively anti-women. While men and non-binary people also fall victim to them, it’s clear that most of the large and problematic ones target women specifically. Being pro-mom is being anti-women, and it’s sad that many women either don’t realize this or don’t care.

My first thought when Hannah was reading that comment was that seller isn't getting commissions from her downline because she doesn't have a downline to get commissions from. Which, if that is the case, and she has been with the company for two YEARS, she may want to do some serious reevaluation about how she is spending her time and money. But of course, that's where the sunk cost fallacy comes in to play. Damn do these MLMs and their tactics aggravate me!

It is not for other people, it’s for themselves - it’s not really possible to be part of an MLM (unless you’re *genuinely* extremely dumb) without a little bit of cognitive dissonance in your mind. Most people are actually aware of it. They have to find coping mechanisms to deal with it. Overreacting to criticism is more about hyping themselves up and convincing themselves to ignore their own doubts.

Hey Hannah! So I discovered your page a watched a few of your videos and omg it is eye opening. I’m currently a MP in Monat and hit the rank of MMB but I often times had these little red flags or gut feelings about the business. I’ve been part of the business for 6months and I’m at the state of do it continue or do I pursue something else. This is my second MLM business, my first was Amway when I was 22-26 (i didn’t make a cent there). But with Monat I did hit bonuses, etc. however after discovering your page my eyes have opened up and now Im still in defense with what to do. Hope no one bashes me for writing this because I love what you are doing and messages you put out. @@MummaQuan sadly not.. We deliberated over the verdict for hours, me and one other person were adamant he was guilty but the others weren't. Eventually the other person gave up and changed their verdict to not guilty and then so did I. The guy basically got off because the judge said it wasnt a case of if he was involved, its if he was involved with the knowledge of being in an mlm and knowingly scamming people. Because he acted like he was all about the products and believed in the company etc he got off on his own ignorance. Despite being one of the top earners/recruiters and bragged about having cruises every year and luxury cars etc. At the end of the case the guys defence barrister even had the cheek to apply for his travel expenses to be covered by the court. The judge dryly said back its not that the defendant was innocent its that there wasn't substantial evidence to prove he knew he was commiting a crime. It felt so frustrating that he got off. The guys family were all smiling and happy and i just thought the bloody injustice..

Another difference between corporate jobs and MLM, is that if you get fired, depending on what happened ofc, you'll get a final compensation (e.g., Severance Package). In MLMs you are literally abandoned.
@crystalfarmer4074

Yep! Unfortunately Angelique found that out. She spoke out against the negative and mean girl attitudes of her mlm and was fired. Meanwhile you have other reps from the same company like Mandy Sue, and Angela Sumner spreading hate, lies, and being publicly racist and they don't even get a slap on the wrist. Something has to change, somehow these companies need to be held liable for the stuff they allow and seemingly condone. Seeing as how they don't react at all when racism and the like is reported, but when someone shares truths and has receipts to prove it they fire them. Somebody please make it make sense!

Hi Hannah -- I am literally watching this video right now but paused it so I could comment. I am not in the "MLM world." I am interested in anti-MLM content to the extent that I research cults, brainwashing and other types of coercive scenarios that innocent people can unwittingly fall into. Your videos are extremely educational. I see MLM's as "Corporate Cults," and believe that you (and Kiki, and other anti-MLM'ers) are doing very important work. However, I also wanted to thank you for helping folks find a better way to deal with negative comments (a problem that's obviously internet-wide). Often, online nastygrams are the product of narcissistic thinking. The best way to shut down a narcissist -- as you point out -- is with kindness. They are looking for a fight, and by diffusing it, they have no "fuel" to attack with. Anyhow, I just wanted you to know that you're not only helping ex-MLM'ers. You are providing tons of useful advice for those trying to navigate an increasingly hostile online world. Keep up the good work! Peace and love :)

i dont think most of these people are narcissists and also a lot of people with NPD are normal human beings that do their best to care about the people in their life in their own way. i think it would be better to say they are brainwashed and are experiencing the cognitive dissonance and confusion that comes with being presented with facts that contradict a firmly held belief. its also completely impossible to diagnose someone based off a rude youtube comment :/ i agree with everything else you said there i just have been educated a tiny bit on NPD and feel a moral obligation to mention it when applicable. When I make a comment on KZbin and someone disagrees with me , I have all the respect in the world for them if they clearly make their point in a respectful manner. Those interactions are actually quite pleasant. But when people comment with guns-a-blazing, seething anger, I can only imagine what they must be like in person. How can some people get triggered so easily? If I watch a video or read a comment that gets me angry, I always take a moment (and a deep breath!) to remember that there's a real person on the other side. It's so easy to get swept-up in anger, but boy it takes work to react calmly. I love your kind, composed responses. Kudos!!

Omygosh this was so entertaining! I can’t believe you even get hate comments. My question, if these huns are so content with their choice to be in an MLM then why are they “wasting their time” watching anti MLM videos? like.. are they searching these videos out just so they can comment nasty weird comments?

Hi, Hannah (and your cute kitties)! I've actually been in an MLM since 2006, but slowly trying to distance myself because I have customers that rely on getting their product from me. I've been binge-watching your videos for a couple of months and can't believe how unhinged and downright mean some of these people are. I'll be sending you my story eventually to read on your channel. For now, I just wanted to say you're doing a good thing, trying to educate people, I never noticed the pauses in your videos and thought you always sounded great. I know it's time consuming, that's why I never had a KZbin channel, I don't have the patience for the editing. You deserve to make money doing your JOB and I'm glad you figured out how to do that and help people, which should be a goal for everyone. Keep doing what you do, because the truth is the truth, no matter how some may FEEL about it.

I was worried to start watching this video. I don’t know you but you come across as such a warm and caring person I thought I‘d get really angry listening to people say mean things about you. I am so glad you have such a healthy outlook on these comments. I watch pretty much all of your content, at least partly some of the longer videos I haven’t finished, so I’d watch these again if you posted more but I would probably stop if I started feeling angry or overly defensive. I also wanted to say that even though I also watch other anti-MLM creators (which I found through your channel, that’s right YOU were my gateway to anti-MLM content!😄) your style is my personal favorite. Oh and last thing for my rambling comment - I notice the cuts but I don’t think it takes away from the video. Like I said you are one of my favorite content creators so obviously your editing style hasn’t had that much, if any, influence on it. I can’t imagine I’m so unique and special that I’m the only one that doesn’t mind your editing style.

I just feel the need to say a quick thank you for making these videos. I honestly didn’t know that anti-MLM videos existed until KZbin recently suggested one to me. I have two sisters in law that have been involved in MLM’s and they have never sat well with me, even to the point that I’ve felt like they should not be legal. I also hate what they do to the people involved in them, like when they “reach out” and act like your friend only to try to sell you stuff and get you to join their team. One of my sisters actually makes pretty good money with color street but with the time she puts into it I hardly feel it’s worth it. I know this is your job and I think it’s fantastic. Educating people is a wonderful thing!

I hope you read my comment! I stumbled into your channel because I was looking for good informative channels and I must say, your videos are well researched, well thought over and your approach is one of the most compassionate, even to the mean comments you get. I agree with your point with regards to the main difference between working a 9-5 job vs MLM. My take of MLM (I've had a small experience with almost getting recruited by two different MLM businesses here in Singapore) is almost similar to a Ponzi schemes, except their business structure (and actual live products) do work on 'some', not all (like all kinds of products) - and it all boils down to the capital you put in and the amount of effort into selling these products that are honestly, overpriced. And the memberships of getting people to 'sign on' with them is how the top liners gain their commissions. Well - that's my experience and understanding. I know I am wrong somewhere, but what I'm trying to say is that at least the 9-5 jobs and minimum wages actually get you paid. I know some actually believe in their products - hopefully because it actually works for them? Then sure. But making people pay for overpriced sign-ons, honestly most of the time I know it's not worth that price. I'm not saying it's an actual ponzi scheme? But the business structures of these MLM companies just have such similar structures. To haters, this is based on my opinion - and yes I have actually bought the products for the recommended time and I seriously don't think they're worth the price I'm paying for.

I really enjoy the way you do your videos, you deliver with compassion and well researched information. I actually am a “consultant” in a mlm (I dare not say the company to avoid any hate), I joined purely because I love the product. When I signed up I told my up-line that I am not in this to build an empire but to buy products at a reduced rate and sell to family and friends who contact me - not the other way around. Needless to say, I am not welcomed in with open arms by other consultants and the push to recruit is huge but I have been ticking away just selling products and have remained ‘active’ for 4 years. I will never seek out people to join as it just isn’t me. I would encourage anyone in an mlm to thoroughly read their disclosure statements, be informed and don’t get sucked in by the hype.
