I find these flat lay type videos of yours where you're just... expressing your thoughts in that soothing voice of yours to be so calming. I deal with pretty severe chronic pain and I can sit, listen, and not think about it for a while. I know you don't know me... but that is a gift few people can give me. Also, you totally helped me discover some of the swampy, olivey, murky greens I've been hunting for for my dream palette. Now to find the perfect browns and mustards for it. I'm going for a classic wet n wild comfort zone feel... just updated and the volume turned up to 20.

Another member of Team Chronic Pain & I'm with you guys! Her voice & way of articulating herself are soothing. And I love her focus on finding joy in beautiful things. Sometimes makeup can feel superficial but she really appreciates that greater principle & now I use makeup more regularly as self-care. 🖤 And I agree about swampy greens!! I made a Colourpop BYOP with only greens & then some murky purples, about half of them shimmery or duochrome. One of my favourite purchases! I only have one mustard shade (in the e.l.f Jewel Pop palette) & I love using that to build a quick edgy neutral look for errands. I'm usually a taupe kinda girl. 🖤

I agree with this so much! Going through a depression flare up at the moment, and listening to Hannah helps me silence the constant despair I feel inside these days. Single shadows have always and will forevermore be my favorite thing to explore and play with in makeup. Rarely do I see people mention, let alone go through entire singles collections anymore though! This was nice to watch and I learned about some new shadows. I might have to pick up a few of these. Thanks for taking the time to share! A nice change from the usual, uninspiring talk of mass produced palettes out there.

But I watch every single one of your videos because even the makeup ones are beautiful and have such a healthy attitude. I feel like I’m training my brain and reflexes just by absorbing your views on consumerism and shopping. Even topics that don’t relate to me are so fun to watch. same! I do wear makeup about 1-2 times a week, though rarely a full face and I struggle with the confidence to wear eyeshadow out in public... but I used to buy into the hype that I needed all the new releases and I had to go with the crowd... but since I got into wonderful people like Jessica Braun, Hannah, the gals over at Beauty News, and joined some panning groups... my whole attitude has changed! A whole year where I've only purchased 1 concealer (I needed it as its the only makeup besides brows I do frequently wear) and one eyeshadow palette because it brought me immense joy and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with it. Hannah's attitude is SO refreshing and makes so much sense to me. I've been applying it to my wardrobe and other hobbies... especially my yarn addiction. If it doesn't spark joy for me to want to use it and make something beautiful with it, I rehome it to someone who will love creating beauty from it.

Michelle Bowler that’s one of the things about a make up collection - it has a use but there is a secondary pleasure in it’s visual appearance. For me it can’t *just* be about the look of the product but that is part of it. Beautiful arrangements of colour do bring joy.

I don't know if you know already, but the eyeshadow pans in the small Kaleidos palettes are magnetic and removable. It looks like there's no space to insert a tool but the packaging is actually spongy, they pop out easily. So if you need a black single shadow for custom palettes, the one from the sci-fi green palette is one you can use.
@aslandn89375 жыл бұрын
sfex9 whoa thank you for commenting this, I’ve been waffling about that palette for ages but I kept telling myself I needed a single matte black as opposed to one in a palette. That definitely makes my decision easier

@@aslandn8937 Yeah, I think I've watched every review on KZbin on those palettes before purchasing the green one, and nobody mentioned it. I've only found out thanks to a random ig comment. Keep in mind that the palette is 8 gr, so you're getting 1.3 gr of black eyeshadow.

It's interesting to me (as someone who has a similar complexion to you, but has never felt that I could pull them off) that you have a lot of tones that range from mustard to olive green, including all those kinds of briney shades that fall in between. So if I were to invest in (or put on my Christmas wishlist) some special stunning metallic shadows what brand would you recommend? Adept, JD glow, Clionadh, Looxie? I'm looking for some forest greens, bronze/brown shimmer, and unique duochromes.

Commenting so I can follow this ❤️
@HannahLouisePoston5 жыл бұрын
oooh, this is so hard to say! I think for the unique duochromes, either Clionadh or JD Glow because they have that amazing soft ultra-glittery duochrome formula. Looxi and Adept have more of "extraordinary for the everyday" shadows, like work-appropriate texture (you'll definitely find amazing forest greens and bronze/browns shimmers from them). If you want to just stick to one brand, I personally might go with Clionadh because of the small square pans. They are easier to store. They also have more variety in the Stained Glass Glitter Multichrome formula than JD glow has in the galaxy shadows (more choices). But they are twice as expensive!

I have that makeup geek "twilight" and I think it was weak sauce when I bought it. MG shadows are hit or miss. When it "hits" it's my favorite formula, when it misses, it's just not good. I think it's also that the MG matte formula is a bit gritty and is pressed hard in the pan. I know exactly what you are talking about. But the mattes really do work well on the eye and I keep coming back to them over and over because of the performance.

Pressed powders are actually the easiest to sanitize. Because of the nature of them being tightly pressed, any bacteria tends to remain on the surface layer. They can be very easily sanitized by spritizing them with isopropyl alcohol. If you're extra concerned, you can also wipe the top layer of product off then spritz. Items like lip gloss are much more of a concern because the wand picks up bacteria and then goes back into the tube, therefore contaminating the whole tube.

Hannah, I am about to break my no buy. It suddenly got really cold here in Belgium and I only have one sweater that's warm enough for this kind of weather. I can't wear the same sweater from now until December 31st. So I put two sweaters in my shopping basket, and even though I know I need them, I know that the second I click 'buy', I break my promise to myself. Or have I already broken my promise by deciding I'm going to buy them, even though I haven't yet? I don't know how I feel about this, I don't even know if I want you to talk me into it or out of it.
@sonmihae-joo62865 жыл бұрын
heya, I don't know if you have friends who'd be interested, but if you have friends who wear approximately the same size as you you can do a declutter and then let each other pick whatever tickles your fancy in their decluttered pile. You might have friends who have loads of sweaters and declutter some ? Also, I don't know if you're like me and have a few pieces of sportswear lying around but never being used, if so, you can layer a piece of sportswear underneath something else and usually they are warmer than a normal tee ^^ (in my unueducated opinion about no-buys though, if you need something to keep warm it probably counts as replacing an essential you never had ? or maybe I'm wrong, if somebody has more experience I'd love to know what would make sense in this situation)
@silkehuybrechts78325 жыл бұрын
Sonmi Hae-Joo Hi! I don’t have a lot of friends that are the same size as me, and most of them have a very different style from me. So while I love the idea, it’s not very practical in my situation. I also saw it as replacing something I never had, but I don’t know, that kind of feels like a loophole, like I’m cheating.
@sonmihae-joo62865 жыл бұрын
@@silkehuybrechts7832 Hello :) Oh that's a pity that this can't work but I understand as the plus-size girl of my group of friends it's always hard to find something that fits in collective declutters ^^' Hmm I'd say that if you go ahead and buy a new sweater look for something that's not cheaper than what you'd usually buy just because you feel guilty buying it, look for something you can afford that'll last long :) And also be prepared for your brain to suddenly awaken to the possibility that you can buy stuff again as long as long it counts as replacing an essential you never had, and be very suspicious of anything your trained consumerist brain might suggest you buy in the same category in the next few months (that's how I ended up buying a dozen single eyeshadows that were very low perfoming a few years ago on a low-buy because I didn't have any eyeshadows. I wish I'd invested the same amount in just 2 or 3 that were really good)
