Hannibal Barca was a legend. Hammer and anvil technique is simplistic and crushing. His ability to take civilian, professional, and mercenary soldiers across the Alps while simultaneously keeping a treaty with the tribes is nothing short of legendary. There are only a few in history who could top these feats.

You can get Hannibal without any DLC, just play as the Barcid Dynasty faction of Carthage. 'Hannibal at the Gates' just starts at the beginning the 2nd Punic War and makes recreating historical events easier.

We ALL know the launch of Rome II was an EPIC FAIL... but after 7 (soon 8) patches, the game itself is really good. Even after the 4th or 5th patch, I felt the game was really close to being "awesome" for me. Although there are still some issues. For instance, the multiplayer campaign, it still needs some work... it crashes sometimes, but not so often that it drives me insane. The only other difficulties I've had with it is only because of my shit internet connection. I hope that seasons (winter, summer, autumn & spring) will be included in the 8th patch. Also, the siege AI is just... stupid. Other then that, I'd give this game (post-patch) an 8/10. A great game, it only need abit more work done.

So i purchased this game and all dlc's on sale. I say this game is worth it! I have finished the grand campaign as macedon. I did not have 1 single crush to desktop, the AI is more than ok, and the game is fun! I recomand this game to every one who likes strategy games. But wait for a sale and get all the dlc's. For me full price($100+) is to expensive for a game. You may have an other opinion tough

What we all seem to forget here is that even a city the size of San Antonio would need an army to take. Not to mention America has terrain that's no easy feat to attack against, take mountains and swamps for example, the mounting terrain doesn't allow for any vehicles, and just flying there in large numbers would be dangerous, then with swamps there is no way to attack unless on foot, and there are many more dangers then just being shot at. Plus there are paths that are there not on any map.

As said, if you have never play any Total War games before, you might like it. You can still build cities & train soldiers in turn based maps & you can still order your troops to attack in real time mode, that's the very basic things in the game that works. The rest like diplomacy, trading, advanced troop formations, challenging enemy AIs, all broken. If you haven't play Rome Total War or Shogun 2, you wouldn't know it, really. Try Shogun 2 or Rome Total War, they're great,they're now on steam.

You might want to read the comment I was referring to. It's an analogy I also added.. wait a second to that. The point does not apply to the US quite as well but it's a proven fact that in most situations quantity will beat quality the Panther tank being a good analogy for something like the f22 Raptor, although probably a better fit for the M1A2 Abrams. Of course they are exceptions to rule. Let's also not forget the work of those who fought in Africa and Italy.

Middle ages pretty much started from 500 AD to 1500 AD and the ottoman empire at the time was already well established (at 1300 conquered all of middle east). I don't think we actually know how many survived, many sources say different things. Some say none survived, other say 21 made it, some books say only 2 made it out. We will probably never know exactly how many made it through the Alps.

I think Rome 2 is really good. Yes there were big problems with the release and Royal and other family intrigue is kind of pointless. The battles are amazing the AI seems to actually be some what of a challenge now with the patches. They attack in large armies, capturing open settlements. So i think Rome 2 is worth buying.

Timojin, All the names are different.Countries (actually lands) named according to the knowlodge they had.So, if you watch carefully you will see all of the countries (cities as well) are named differently. So stop prejudging.
