People shouldn't push younger kids to resign in these situations. A lot of time all that fosters is over-respect that can lead players to constantly give higher rated players benefits they have not earned. No current top rated player routinely resigned as a kid when they had a losing position including Magnus Carlsen. Make them beat you should be the motto, leave the respect resignations for non-competitive games or when there is truly no hope and plenty of time.
