At around the 48' mark, you tell Tarrant that he cannot use his bonus marker after he's claimed the route. This is incorrect. He can't use it as part of the same action, but he can use it for free after he's claimed the route even if he doesn't have any actions remaining.

This is my favourite boardgame. I love the ebb and flow, and they way it's about intuiting what people's priorities are ... without having to squint at little cads full of text etc like so many other games. Really terrific, and with great expansion maps too.

This is actually a very nice strategy game. No dice and swift player turns and interaction. Haven't seen it played before, although I have heard the name been dropped in some streams. Thanks for showing. I will pre-order this Big-Box version.

As it concerns you question about the letter C on the last space of the Bank, according to the rules "“C” comes from the Latin cuncti and means “all.” :)

Thank you for an exceptionally well-done rules teach! We played this for the first time this morning after watching the rules portion of this video, and all enjoyed the game very much. I like that it plays so quickly, but that meant that it was over just as I was figuring out what I *should* be doing. 😆

I decided to give this a watch after my first 3 player game of this fell flat. I'm pretty sure we might have gotten a rule or two wrong, so I'm eager to get it back to the table after watching this.

At 59 minutes you can complete a route to take the bonus token and also of course get a point for an office at one end of the route controlling a city. You do not need to place an office when completing a route. You can complete a route just to milk two controlled cities of points. Great playthrough

Don’t believe everything you read on the internet :) This video was a 3-player playthrough, so yes, it works perfectly well with 3 :) It doesn’t work that well as a 2-player game, but 3 is fine.

Isn't it too easy to rolfstomp away with the game just by focusing 100% on the "more actions" bonus? You use the trade route to get more actions which you use to put yourself back into the trade route, locking everyone else away from it.

Not sure what you mean by locking everyone else away from it. This game doesn't really have ways of stopping people from claiming a trade route. You can force them to displace you, but that won't stop someone who wants to do it. Plus, they can do the same to you; it's not one-sided. EDIT: Also, if you just 100% focus on more actions, you will lose. There are lots of points available to players that have nothing to do with the more actions route.

Great game. So deep in strategy and mechanics. Lite on theme, but not as important.

Damn this game looks dry AF. I watched it and kept waiting for the fun and exciting part to happen and it never came. The fact that you can just keep completing your own three-length route for 2 points every turn seems like a huge flaw. Also, everyone is vying for those 4 spots that unlock the places on the player board and the rest of the board is pretty much ignored. Based on how much people have talked this game up i'm quite disappointed.

This was not optimal play, at all. Not to say they are poor players, but HT is a game that your group will grow with. Getting 2 pts a turn will not win you the game, so feel free to use that "exploit". Leaving the red cities and the network to one player while just unlocking stuff will also lose you the game. Ignoring bonus tokens will also lose you the game. Maybe you should listen to all the people talking up the game and not think you know exactly how a game plays based on watching a single playthrough with people who were learning the game for the first time.
