I actually really enjoy hearing from someone who isn't being sponsored! It helps me a lot with making a choice!

I bought this curriculum because of your videos on it. I wish we had more homeschoolers who put there kids first and bought what worked for them rather than oh were sponsored so will use it on video but not really use it. Your little girl deserves a big high five. Goals!!!

Thank you for this review! This looks great! Very simple, colorful and the readers look great. I also like how you can practice writing sentences. The only thing that I dont see is much grammar nouns verbs adverbs etc.. what do you use to supplement teaching grammar? Thanks!

Personally, I think it’s ok to wait to teach formal grammar unit after kids learn to read... but I do own a very old edition of first language lessons (1&2 combo book) that I have used here and there with her.

I was able to pick up the work books 2, 3 and 4, as well as all the readers. What else would I need to make this course work? 😊

Would you recommend this curriculum for a child who is 9 and still really struggles with reading and writing? I really am looking for an all inclusive LA but maybe start on level 3? Have you tried phonetic zoo for spelling? Thanks. Really enjoying your channel

Sonlight has these packages more simplified and alot cheaper than the main website. Level 1 is building confidence and what you see on the videos regarding the level readers is the words there using in the work books. Fantastic program^

I would point you to Happy Cheetah’s website. There is an assessment test that should help you place them. No I personally have not tried phonetic zoo, but we love so many of iew’s products, I’m sure it’s good too!

I'm using Happy Cheetah with my 9 year old who is in public school in a self-contained SpEd classroom. I'm using it to supplement the reading instruction that my student receives in school. We started with the first workbook in the first grade level (red book). The stories that go along with the first workbook were pretty easy for my student but the lessons with the letter boxes (spelling) were much more of a challenge. We're now on about lesson 70 in the second workbook in the first grade level (blue book). My student does seem to be picking up new words more quickly. Spelling is still a bit of a struggle as my student has a very difficult time hearing the differences between certain sounds but there are signs of improvement. The writing is mainly focused on handwriting, which my student needs. You will need to supplement if you're wanting to work on creative/informational writing. There is some creative writing but I don't think it's enough for an older student.

Do they sale the readers on their own?

Not that I know of, but you could contact them through the website and ask. I had a few questions when purchasing last year and their customer service was great!
