I avoided coming out until I was 21 because my family were (and are) kinda homophobic, and all of my friends would always use gay as an insult. At 21 though I made some new friends at university, I just said “Guys, I think I’m gay” whilst we were all walking into a cinema. I was met with the response “Cool man, hurry up” from my now best friend Matt. That friend group really helped. Especially by having people to talk to when my family kicked up a fuss.

So I recently learned there is a subset of asexual called “autochorissexual” and I feel so seen!!! I’ve always been repulsed at the thought of being involved in sexual situations myself. But I do regularly enjoy the more sexual parts of BL. I thought I couldn’t be “real asexual” because I wasn’t disgusted my R-18 BL. And now it just... feels validating to know I’m not alone? I feel like you guys are the only people that would understand? I don’t know. I’m just happy I’m not alone. And can finally classify myself as asexual.
@JelliesWorld3 жыл бұрын
This is my first time hearing about this! I feel the same way! Ppl always ask how can I read BL while being asexual and I always find it hard to explain. Gonna do some research on this term now!

@@JelliesWorld omg I’m so happy I found another person that understands. 😭😭😭 we’re around the same age too. So it’s like... idk. Nice knowing this isn’t just something teens identify with. No offense to teens. It’s just that... being asexual always made me feel like an inadequate adult. I’ve never dated. Never kissed. Haven’t had a crush in 14 years. I feel so childish. But I now realize it’s okay to be a little different. And I’m trying to learn to accept that.

I guess I never came out to my family and I never will because I'm not one for labels and quite honestly I don't think any romantic or sexual stuff in my life involves them, but at one family gather, could have been a birthday party for one of my nieces or nephews, my family was hassling me again because they still think I'm just a closeted lesbian. So I said "I just don't care." As in I don't care for coupling and just thinking about having another person in my life and having to consider their "feelings", and altering my life around their schedule reaffirms that it's not the kind of life I want. I have told my family multiple times that I don't care and I prefer to be alone. When I have to label myself, I'm Asexual and if you want to get real specific about it, I'm Aromantic. Have a wonderful Pride Month.
