Damn, you just broke the game :) I always use Harbinger, so far with Heavy Blasters, but Phase Lances look even better. Gotta try it out. Thx man.

The day I had the Harby epiphany of "Wait...so my first shot will always ignore shields and I'll have time after it to phase out safely" was such a happy day. Messed with lances, and blasters, and ions. The Pulse Ions are so nice when you have other DPS around. Fly up to something taking a lot of aggro, bonus if torps or bombers are inbound and you shut it down and turn off everything with Ion spam. I dont think I have ever put anything on the back turrets though. In my hightech fleet they are my anti-frig workhorses, even in AI hands. an Ion Pulsar and some lances are brutal and give them utility against anything I fight.

during my time of playing I noticed that if you aim at one spot and fire only on that it seems to have a high likely hood of completely destroying the ship, so spreading out your damage across the hull has a higher chance of just disabling it.

I think it is a function of hull damage. My lowtech fleet has a lot of armor breaking and HE-spam to finish and I end up destroying most ships I fight, even when I dont want to. My phase and hightech fleets always have a ton of recoverable disabled enemy hulls. My phase is probably the fastest TTK with such huge damage output supported by shinanigains, so I dont think it is just brutal damage causing destroyed hulls.

@@buckcherry2564 might be a multitude of things focused damage could cause it alpha damage could cause it, I wouldn't be surprised if the devs made just a bit complex and variable
