The skill is great to have when using high armor low tech ships consistently used as overtly aggressive assault ships with priority to vents to keep up with energy use. Proximity mines are used to overcome fighter flares and use AoE to deal with them without the use of Devastators, but the rear means that it needs to be supported. Caveat here is that Polarized armor is best used with combat-build players. The armor tanking will need ways to keep its weapons with as little downtime as possible.

Proximity launchers do a lot of damage and make for great PD. Stick em on a manticore and you don't have to worry about the other weapon slots. A missile will never touch it.

I run PCLs on Falcon(P). Just 4 of them, sabots on small missile and taclasers on small energy. It locks enemies into the choice between "lower your shields and perish" and "overload and perish". Also, high speed of the Falcon helps with lobbing proxy charges faster and further

I modded the AI battlestation to have 3 station minestrike system (For reference the hightech starfortress have 2), shield for each of the spur and fortress shield system for all the shield modules. Make it much harder and would require an advance fleet to defeat.

I was just thinking to do thematic playthroughs like low tech salvager industrialist mid tech bounty-hunter career military and high tech explorer/researcher The biggest appeal with low tech would be to have all ships equipped with high efficiency and all types of cost reductions skills to have essentially a free fleet

Imma level with you - that sounds like less of a list of options as it does a series of events to progress through. Imagine some boi starting out not knowing jack about shit, putting it all together, and ending up with multiple colonies making Tri-Tachyon look like amateurs.

So start on low tech maybe mid then go low tech when the young soldier goes independent and then progress with the main story and realize how high tech works (when you actually have monies for it) Yeah, that sounds neat, but it requires retalenting!

You cant overload, by firing weapons, they wont fire or will be firing slower if flux is high, only way to overload is by activating shield so i didnt do much there
