I tack welded all the joints on mine. Then on the underside of each joint drilled a small hole and sprayed in expandable foam. So, not only are all the joints now solid, they are also water proof as well. Anchored all the legs and added 1"X 3" welded wire over the entire top then draped over the tarp. The wire keeps the water from collecting along the sides. Thanks for the video. I saw where somebody (without mute capability apparently) complained about the music. So, when I get my second one tomorrow, I'll be adding in some Benny Hill jams to my youtube production...........

I used self tapping screw on the frame for the 10'x17' portable garage version of this, it worked great keeping the poles together while assembling by myself and it made it more solid in the wind gusts.

What material are the poles? Plastic or metal type. Thinking of making it a mini garage by drilling some thin sheets of corrugated galvanized steel
@jtr823693 жыл бұрын
They are metal, I used self-tappers to screw everything together on mine.

put some scrape 3/4 plywood 12x 12 16 x16 etc under the post pads and screw to the plywood then weight the plywood down with sand bags or plastic pails with gravel , that will take care of lite winds if blowing 40 -50 take down the canvass the nite before it blows lol!

Thanks for the video. I was wondering about the difficulty to take down the tarp once built? We live in the high desert where I'd love some extra shade but we also get high winds regularly (30+ mph). Is it simple to release the elastic bands and drop the tarp while leaving the frame standing? That would be the only thing holding me back
@adamshaffer74302 жыл бұрын
Yes if you work with the wind but to put it back on while about 8 foot high while a lil difficult but more over you'll be putting a lot of strain on the frames legs while you pull the tarp to to put on your eye loops and stretching it out.

@GettinJunkDone Жыл бұрын
The elastic bands are there to hold the tarp in place. They are removable, but doing so would allow the tarp to come off.

I wish I could tell you, but I haven't had this canopy for several years. It lasted a few years until a wind storm took it down, bending the the legs and ripping the cover.

How strong were the winds? Do you recommend this for windy areas?@@GettinJunkDone
@ee2222 жыл бұрын
yeah, and don't forget to tie yourself to it so that you can enjoy some parasailing in the next high wind! just speaking from experience with their portable garage. i followed their instructions and even including some tips i found at ytube and other locations and still had problems with moderate wind gusts late last fall. had to return it. hope you have better success with this than i did.

I only need this to be 10ft long, would the pieces allow me to construct only half this canopy and still fit together? I was also thinking instead of cutting the fabric in half as well i would just drape it over sideways that way it would have walls as well.
@GettinJunkDone7 жыл бұрын
You can do only half, but wouldn't be ten feet.

staking? I just put mine up and in the morning it blew over my neighbor's garage and bent.....
@GettinJunkDone7 жыл бұрын
Staking would be a good idea. I took the carport to my second property and it eventually blew over in the middle of the night. I ended up concreted each leg into a 5 gallon bucket. I also used ratchet straps from one end to the other on each side to pull the whole frame together. Hasn't budged yet since doing those two things.

I bought one of these bad boys on sale a year ago and haven't set it up because ive been lazily worried about the breakdown effort. I live in one of thoes fancy tiny towns that tickets their tax paying citizens for leaving such inoffensive skin cancer blockers standing. Even when the tent and the property its standing on is owned legally and outright by said taxpayer!! (Translation: get off my lawn, you dirty government!) Im guessing tear down is easier than assembly? Input from anyone?

@davidcrumrine11654 жыл бұрын
You do have the options of muting the video or turning it down or just not watch the video at all. Just like when he was trying to put it over the truck. I just fast forward through the stupid part. And at the end where it showed his hooks for the end rope. He obviously didn't read the directions. Cause your suppose to hook the hooks and twist the legs to tighten them by wrapping the rope around the legs. Not pull the extra rope through the hooks and tie a knot. If someone is going to make a video they could at least do it right so everyone can see how its suppose to be done and not just half ass it and say well this will work I don't care how the manufacturer says to do it.

Ok now I see you said it's easy to put together and everything is even numbered and I'm sure that is a huge advantage BUT how many times did this guy get to practice to do it as fast as he did as c'mon..like the E-Z Up brand and those alike..they aren't as easy as they say and especially with only 1 person..forgetaboutit...
@GettinJunkDone Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I did it alone. There were times when having a second person would've helped, but I just kept connecting poles and standing things up. Eventually I got it.
