Thanks so much 🙏 I had been dealing with mine shutting off every day now in the California desert. It sits in the open with no obstructions but when a breeze would come up it would whip up under the generator and shut it down. I did what you said to do only I just used two jumper wires I plugged into the end of the connector and taped it up. Now about what you have in the garage lol. Thanks again for such an informative no nonsense video.

Like a dream. I did what you said and it's working perfect so far. It even starts better, in about half a pull. Previously it took a fair amount of pulls and some fancy words.

I tried this with my 2000 and it did not work, sort of. I finally got so angry at the sensor FAILURE, I jerked it right off the machine. Looking at the exposed wires, and already suspecting this reverse plug method mentioned should work, on the black & white wire plug I tested connecting the wires reversed from how they go together with the plug. Since both wires going to the motor are tan I cannot tell you which goes to which, but I can say NO damage results from testing them one way or another. (As I mentioned, by this time I didn’t care if I destroyed the unit or not. It was already worthless to me) I left the colorful wires disconnected. Works great! In response to Harbor Freights input in these comments: KISS MY ASS!!! I paid for a generator that runs and reliably generates power. I am not so stupid that I am ever going to gas myself with CO2 from this generator. I couldn’t care less about those that do, especially when I need my generator to run. Pooh Pooh me all you want on my attitude, AGAIN, I could not care less. It is a self imposed tragedy and I reject paying any penalty for another’s foolishness.

I have a slightly newer (or at least different) version of the Predator 2000 and am happy to report that this procedure has gotten even easier. Mine was purchased 10/22 and has the choke knob on the right hand side and the CO sensor light in the middle. New Years eve, floating at anchor in Cathlamet bay - the sun goes down, it starts getting cold. And the predator gives me the yellow-blinky "CO Sensor Malfunction" light and no power! Turns out on this version, one goes in through the front panel (don't forget the screw in the middle of the choke knob). The CO sensor has three plugs: a four wire plug leads to the indicator LED, a two wire plug with two brown wires leads to the inverter area (input?) a two wire plug with a black and a white wire leads back toward the engine (output?) Simply disconnect both two-wire plugs, leave the ends attached to the sensor hanging, and you are left with a male and a female - just plug them in together and reassemble the unit.

This worked on my Predator 1400. It has three plug in connectors. Thank You. I bought this generator last November 2022. It started cutting out after about 90 days. It became worse and worse only to run for about 5 minutes when it stopped running and the red light came on. I use it in the back of my pickup truck. I have solar for good days. Even sitting on the tailgate with wind blowing exhaust away from the unit it still would fail. I believe the sensor goes bad and no amount of venting worked. After connecting the two small plugs on the generator together it keeps running. I left the four wire connector alone. It is located behind the front panel where the power output and lights are. Best remove the whole front plastic by taking out the lower screws long ones and the upper side screws the sensor is on the left inside.

So you just connected the two brown wires to the black and white ? And left 4 wire that runs to indicator light alone or unplugged it also ? My 2000 watt has knob on right also and I can't get mine to stay running without sensor connnected

I completely agree Safety First and as mentioned it's for educational purposes only but I do have the harbor freight PREDATOR RV Ready 30 Amp Inverter Generator Parallel Kit and simply using the kit makes the generators shut off because of these sensors somehow they pickup some exhaust I guess, and that constant shutting off can potentially damage RV electronics, so please let's address those issues first.

I have a WEN 56235iX Super Quiet Ultra Lightweight 2350-Watt Portable Inverter Generator with Fuel Shut Off and CO Sensor and having issues starting it and keeping it running. I am pretty sure it is the CO2 sensor. Are you familiar with this generator and do you know how to bypass the CO2 sensor? Thank you..

I run mine 24 7 start it new with regular 10 30oil keep an eye on the oil will use oil till its broke in drain out oil replace with 100% senthetic wally brand leter run fill the gas tank 9pm get up in the morning refill the tank runs my whole trailer cost less for my fridge less than propain some times only use 1half galon per knight best gen i ever used better than my 1400 watt have an extra one when this one goes dont fotget the valvaline restore get axtra months out of it im totaly off grid 1:03

How did you determine which wires to jump? I have a different generator with different colors.

You only need to concern yourself with the plug that has wires going back to the motor. Those are the ones that kill the circuit when the sensor activates. Jump those. Leave all others going from the sensor to circuit board at the warning light disconnected.

You all are doing to much fiddling. Just put a couple pieces of tape over sensor. End of problem. No wiring bs.

That’s a great idea … can you tells us what type and brand of tape you use, that is not affected by heat, vibration, dirt, humidity and etc. for us who live in south Texas Thanks 🙏

@@jayzee884 hello, mine still running. So, this a real "aluminum" duct tape for heating, cooling sheet metal work Will stand the test of time.

Just cut a couple pieces and tape over sniffer. End of problem. Be sure to cover really good

@@bill7848Few months later and yes tape is A quick fix Thank you but I helped a buddy last Week with the actual sensor going out completely so we bypassed it So again tape is a good and thanks but to eliminate it altogether Snip and clip
