Lan works long hours in a factory in Vietnam producing shoes for global fashion brands. She makes 1200 pairs per day, but doesn’t earn enough to buy one pair for her son. She's forced to live far away from her two young children. This is a symptom of an economy that doesn't work for most people. Join us to fight inequality and beat poverty for good.

every child in the UK should see this short clip. Wish we knew which brands to boycott but is it perhaps all of them? are there any fair-trade trainers?

Hi Frances, unfortunately, there aren't at the moment many ways for consumers to know whether their clothing has been made by workers earning a living wage. This would require factories to actually implement a living wage as well as be transparent to the consumer on where the clothing was made. Unfortunately, neither of these things are commonplace yet. Certification organisations have come together, under a global banner called ISEAL, to form a 'Global Living Wage Coalition' which has made strides in undertaking living wage benchmarks in countries where certified products are produced. The certification schemes have now included the Living Wage amongst their standards. We are glad to see existing certification schemes working together on this and hope that it will lead to a transformation in wages for workers in these supply chains. You can see which organisations have supported the work of the Global Living Wage coalition on their website: www.isealalliance.org/get-involved/our-work/global-living-wage-coalition Thanks - Sue

Funny how the crimes of a few are used to discredit the hard work and values of the whole Oxfam organisation. Funny how the crimes of a few, despicable and that should be condemned and punished, are nonetheless used to turn a blind eye on the crimes of many - all of us, partners in crimes with this awful exploitation system. Funny how our brains are looking for any good reason to dismiss any valuable information that could shake our certitudes, rather than acknowledging the ugly truth: some people in Oxfam did f*ck up and should be sued and jailed for their actions, but their claims and work remains, nonetheless, freaking relevant. So, get your head out of your sorry arses and get your flipping actions in order, will you?
