@@aqdjbcr It depends more on them than you. Do they know how to defend themselves or are they chin up, arms down, neck out on the ground. Bc the 2nd scenario would be fatal getting kicked by a 15 year old. The first scenario an amateur could take a kick from a world champion in the same weight class and be fine. Chin down, guard up, leaned in to shorten the acc of the kick, then roll with it as it lands. Doesnt take training to be deadly, it takes training to know how to defend.

Hell yeah, Blackie Chan. Sweet, humble dude, brain like a sponge! Looks like he's a pleasure to teach. I instructed a guy once who quickly picked up the nickname 'Sorry' because he'd apologise every damn time he hit you. Nicest dude in the world - too nice, really. But he was an athlete and used to play squash, which is super high-tension, rapid footwork inside a small space... so his leg kicks (bizarrely, especially his inside ones) were straight out of a Muay Thai gym. We'd just constantly hear a sound like a gunshot, then a meek and sincere, "Sorry," from across the hall. Sorry stopped training because his heart just wasn't in it; a shame, because he had the same natural instinct, physical gifts, and keen learning mind that Mr. Chan seems to have. Looking forward to seeing where this dude goes!

Nah there is definetly something to it. Soccer matches are 1.5 hours with a 15 minute or so break inbetween. And for most of that time, you are running. or jogging. So not only endurance, but also sprinting But unlike most running sports. It is not just running in a straight line, you swivel, swerve. do hard brakes to run in another direction. This all places waay more pressure on your legs then just running a track. And that is just the running part and not kicking or blocking the ball with your legs and feet. and the occasional opponent.

He is for sure, the technique seems like just comes naturally to him. I feel like his footwork is the only thing I saw in this vid that could use some work then he’d be very dangerous with his kicks. Although seeing how quickly he started applying the shifting weight and feet angle his kicks it wouldn’t take him much practice to get the footwork built in.

My most successful kicks were checking their leg kick and immediately following with a front/snap kick with the leg you checked with. Try not to even put your foot down, and if you do then literally tap the floor. People like to forget to defend after their kick is checked and leave their solar plexus open. Not your own leg kick set up but using theirs. Although you can't use it more than a 2 or 3 times in one round

The “weight dash“ or whatever you call it is built upon the concept of altering your timing. Once you have your opponent raising his leg in anticipation for your kick that didn’t come, you have successfully controlled your opponent. Many things you can do. You can teep and they will fall down. You can kick their standing leg (my favorite) and they will fall down. You can wait for them to put the leg back down and start to regain their balance on both feet and kick to the body. Superman punch, etc., many things you can do. When your opponent reacts in anticipation to your pattern, you are in control!

I think from the short stuff I’ve learned and seen about Chan is that he’s not arrogant and seems humble and wants to lean which I think can make him great

So not too long ago, my friend got me into Muay Thai. But, I didn’t know that he played Soccer and once did Taekwondo. He once gave me the meanest leg kick and I sort of just dropped. Yeah I was done sparring that day for sure.
