Great stuff by Sifu Davis. I love the emphasis on structure and demonstrating how a three-beat technique can be performed in two beats.

Did he teach you the Chum Kiu form along with these elbows to help you understand the leverage?

This isn't JKD there's 2 passive moves before a strike is thrown. This is just part of a Wing Chun drill, the 'Classical Mess'. Enough said.

Dude, he's certified by 5 of Bruce Lee's original students.

John Santiago Money talks. Anyone with some cash and some ability can get certified by just about anybody. I couldn't give a shit if 'Lamar' was certified by God Almighty what''s on this clip is WRONG! He's not even in stance properly nor has he clearly denoted if he's in a neutral stance. Furthermore he's on the 'rim of the fighting measure' as he starts the technique so he could have used a low line kick before a hand strike. And the fact still remains that tan sao and pak sao are two passive moves before he strikes. He should have either cut-into the tool, directly riposted or hit with cover all done on the first motion. Sorry but this ain't JKD, period! If you want to follow something as a plea to authority then you do that but that's all it is. Lamar does have some good JKD techniques but his stuff is littered with Wing Chun and other stuff that isn't JKD. If I put one drop of my urine in your glass of water are you happy to now drink it? Have a great day:-).

www.hjkdcgfa.com Sifu Lamar is a legitimate JKD instructor. Visit his website for some clarification.

John Santiago Look mate, with all due respect, I'm a 2nd gen JKD Sifu and I've known 'Lamar' for years. I know all his credentials and I don't make a habit of talking about things that I critique without knowing about it in depth. I know all about his hardcore JKD, who he's trained with, etc,and I don't need to waste my time looking him up, lol. And I'm not about ad hominem attacks, what I am about is constructive criticism where it is necessary for the arts sake. So again I will reiterate what he is doing on this clip is not in compliance with the principles of JKD. It is not economical, direct, the longest range weapon to the nearest target, efficient, or minimalistic with simplicity. Now if you want to 'fan boy' this stuff then that's up to you, I also stated that Lamar has much good JKD in his repertoire which makes it all the more difficult to call this stuff for what it is when he should know better. Sometimes guys give the public what they think they want, it's called selling out. I'm only interested in the truth however brutal that is and however much it makes me have to face having to change because of it or however much as it often does shows me that I'm too weak to make that change yet till God Almighty moves me in my spirit. Till I realise that it is not me but God in me that makes the change. Have a great day.:-).

the yellow guy shouldn't stand like that with his legs spread open, he is begging the black guy to groin kick him. It seems as if the yellow guy has a lot of wing chun background, so he should just sell wing chun, not fake Jeet Kune Do. Also in the end he needs six steps to get one opponent, about anywhere in the process the black guy could have done a knee in the groin or a groin kick or just have stepped away, therefore the scenerio which is presented here is very unlikely to come in practice.

Parry is just a fancy word for block. Why would you come in with that first elbow when a simple punch is the most optimal attack. Even a palm strike would be optimal. You're wasting that attack by not utilizing the hand. This shit don't work.
