You should make a video on blue lining, how it’s done, and how you decide if you think the creek is worth fishing or not!
@Ryanoceros06 Жыл бұрын
I agree! I'm wanting to hit some unknown, less popular creeks myself but it's a bit overwhelming.
@bennettkilleen9136 Жыл бұрын
Only way to decide if it’s worth fishing is to fish. Knowledge is best gained on foot. But Google maps your ass off until you get a headache is what I’m saying and explore and have fun to avoid the overwhelming feeling. Fishing is not supposed to do that, if it does just slow down and look around.

I’m pretty new to blue lining but I’ve had success looking at biology reports, water quality reports, topography maps and Fishbrain App.

Very cool Eastern Brook Trout Creek. Most people would drive right past it. I used to fish similar creeks as a kid in Wisconsin. I know they are not huge, but those brookies are good eaters to from what I remember. Just would not want to keep very many very often. Nice video.

I wish my English were good enough (I’m a Spaniard writing from Spain) to express as I would in Spanish the stunning quality and interest of this video. The close ups of the magenta spots of those gorgeous brookies, the moment (time 2:45) when that fish took the drifting fly, the beautiful scenery and the joy of climbing the creek and still finding fish in those tiny pools ever decreasing in size (that could be an actual dream in one’s sleep)…wow! and then you get to that fall and wonder if there could be more brookies going on up there and it turns out that there are and you masterfully keep on catching gems of fish in those incredibly tiny pools…awesome dude! Also excellent the description of the running underground stream in that karstic place made out of limestone. Indeed a blissful fishing day granted to lucky you by Mother Nature. Congratulations.

I really enjoy your excitement when you hit a new blue line stream. Your always positive about catching fish on a new stream. Makes me want to go fishing. Your film, editing and commentary are always first class. That was a nice soft plug you put in about Cortland leaders, I email Cortland after watching your pod cast with them I suggest that they make an ambassador for there products out of you I never heard back form they. I hope that does not up set you. The first fly line i bought was Cortland DT 6wt at Kittery Trading Post back in the early 70's to fish for Maine Brook Trout over the years I have used all the big company lines but I prefer Cortland.

the Driftless areas of Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin are great Karst Geography areas. Decorah Iowa has both a large spring fed waterfall that flows into the Upper Iowa River in Dunning's Spring Park, and an active Ice Cave nearby, both features of Karst. Just to the NW, Coldwater Creek is another Karst Spring and Trout Creek. And to the SW, near West Union IA, Dutton Cave and Spring is a small creek with Native Northern Iowa Brook Trout from the Decorah Trout Hatchery.

Here in Utah I’ve only been on one creek that disappeared like that below the surface. In the spring with runoff the fish can get up higher on the creek and spawn (cutthroats) but in the late summer like when I was there last it is a trickle when you get higher.

@hardmanfishing Жыл бұрын
Ehh I didn't have the right rod if I'm being honest. As I said I wanted to nymph and then switched as I walked up the creek. I don't think a 3 wt was too big but I would've liked a slightly slower action rod and some fly line

There's probably no fish up there where it runs underneath the ground because creates a barrier for them that they can't get across unless the water gets up in flooding conditions got a wild fishery where I live that does the same thing locals call it dry run because it goes under ground nice video and trout man 👍

If it was the cold front from 2 weeks ago, I know what you mean. I had plans to fish a creek that had brookies in it, and I was gonna try out my new 3 weight rod. However, it was 0 degrees out and the whole creek was iced over and not fishable. It was a nice nature hike, but I plan on hitting the same creek this weekend. Hopefully a 60° difference in temperatures will mean that I can actually fish the creek.
