This video has about everything!! I started out the day streamer fishing and then transferred to nymphing halfway through the day. I ended up catching a couple of browns with a streamer and a HUGE Brook trout. I then caught a bunch of browns while nymphing through some beautiful trout water.
I hope everyone enjoys the video! Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe!

Hey Jonathan. This morning I was fishing Helton Creek near Whitetop, VA. A 7" wild rainbow took my #14 Adams. I got him to me, popped out the barbless hook, and gently slipped him back in the water. Then I remembered a really important fishing tip you taught me. As he swam away, I said, "Thanks, buddy." I appreciate you.

@@hardmanfishing I stopped counting at 10. Then there was one wild brown. The 12 inch rainbow came a foot out of the water, tossed my fly into the next zip code, and swam away laughing. It was a fine day out there.

The brownie has got to be the most beautiful freshwater fish the brooks and rainbows aren't no slouch but the brown gold yellow with orange fins with hits of red just catch the eyes like no other trout. Great video on a nice piece full day on a beautiful river with some amazing trout can't beat a day like that.

"The prettiest fish on planet earth" perfect description of Brown Trout. Always my favorite, the variety of the rich and vibrant colors, spots and overall markings has always delites me. Each one is a beautiful and unique expression of the species. Likely something to that. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Love your videos, stay safe out there.

As a Canadian it’s amazing how much good water you have down there…. The reputation is it’s overly developed and pooched, but not really. I think that rainbow was wild, the stockers do reproduce. Stunning brookie too!

Grew up fly fishing, bass fishing, pike/musky fishing and salt water fishing in New Jersey. Been living in CA for the past 22 years landing huge Largemouth bass and a ton of ocean species. Moving to the mountains of North Carolina in the Fall. Time to get back on the rivers!

Since you felt the fish were high in the water column, did you ever consider going to a dry dropper, just to control the depth of the bottom fly? New fisherman here. Beautiful fish, beautiful river.
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing Жыл бұрын
Yes I did. If I didn’t have my euro nymphing/tight line setup I probably would have. But what stopped me was I didn’t see any dry fly eats really, and I can easily control the depths of my fly with that setup. In other words if I want the flies to sit higher in the water column I just lift my rod tip higher.

You called that first bow a stocker, how can you tell? All of its fins are clean and intact, is that not wild? All the stockers I’ve caught have nubby fins. Maybe it’s different out west
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing Жыл бұрын
Well this was out east. And although that fish didn't have nubs for fins they were still worn pretty badly and didn't have the white tips most wild rainbows have. I also know that river pretty well and I happen to know there isn't any reproducing rainbow trout in there.
