I bet most people going back and watching these are people that didn't really want the 6700XT over any other card but was whatever card they were able to buy. I was kicking myself for not buying a 5700XT back when they were hitting $350 range. So I ran my $140 used GTX1070 from Nov 2019 to Fed 2022. I was watching for GPU's like everyone else over the last two years and somehow I scored a crazy deal before prices started to improve. Snagged the Gigabyte Gaming OC 6700XT for $450 and the guy let me test it in the back of my SUV. I brought a battery back up, old monitor and my small Media PC to make sure I could at least get video. The card was still selling new between $900-950 from Newegg/Amazon. Works great and since the market was still inflated I was able to get $120 for my oldest card in the house a reference R9 290 (275watt) card that was a little slower than a 1060. So not bad considering I had a card to push out onto the market so was only $330 out of pocket for new GPU while market was high.

Thanks for helping those of us with disabilities. I am a long time gamer. I have never been able to drive (I am 52) because of my visual impairment. But recently I purchased a Next Level Racing GT lite rig (basically a lawn chair on steroids). It is such an immersive experience. I forget I am playing a video game and instead, I am a high speed racer. Like everyone else, I am frustrated with the GPU market. I currently use a 1060. I had decided to skip the 2000 series and would upgrade when the 3000 series would come out. Now here we are in this ridiculous situation with out of control artificial inflation. The cards are priced at ridiculous prices for a single reason. To take advantage of the crypto currency craze and basically rob us blind.

I bought the reference card and it got 77-78 degree Celsius on average. I sold it, and bought nitro+ from my brother. It averages around 67-68 degree, never touches 70 degree. The performance is still the same, but at least I did not feel the anguish of buying the reference card and actually love my new GPU

The 6700XT in Late 2022 is fantastic value on the used market. Got one for $400 AUD on Facebook Marketplace and couldn't be happier with the performance!

I do not know what AMD meant with better availability, but in my country (Czech Republic) the retailers are not selling RX 6700 XT because they do not received any. Not even retailers recommended on AMD website. At least in Czech Republic the stock of RX 6700 XT is far worse than the stock of RX 6800s during at its launch. There were few RX 6800s to buy, but at least there were some. Now, we did not get any. What a mess.

I found this article very interesting, Connor Stilwell, Build PCs and mod Macs for studios Answered January 11, 2018 Usually for tech you can assume that raw materials cost about 10% or less than the price of the product. In this case, roughly $80 sounds about right. The card itself is about $10, the actual GPU is maybe $20, the miscellaneous stuff on the board is pennies per piece. The fans and heat sync are maybe a couple bucks each. The manufacturing process likely costs as much as the GPU, then the manufacturer charges probably around $600 and the retailer gets about $200. When you buy a piece of tech you can expect half the cost is profit for the manufacture and retailer.

A bigger cooler will make it quieter though. Even if they don't go faster. So if quietness is important, then it will be of an advantage to have the custom design with better cooling. I am one of the lucky ones that got my hands on an RX 6700 XT, an XFX QICK . They took five minutes to sell out. So I just had to stand ready when they came for sale.

I wanted the reference card, but that one sold out in a millisecond on Best Buy launch day. The one that I was fast enough to get was the XFX Merc 319. I picked it at random on the BestBuy page, but I'm glad I got it. The 2nd quietest 6700xt is exactly what I want. I'm gonna turn around and sell my 1070ti to miners on eBay, so I will get pretty close to a free upgrade. When it comes to any card that releases now, the best time to buy will probably be on launch. There was a whole 5 minute window to still buy cards on the Best Buy website, which seems like a tiny amount of time but it felt like forever in the heat of the moment.

@@jamesnicol9810 If you're in the UK, sell your 5700 xt for the 750-850 or so it goes for now and wait for a CCL or Scan restock. Currys and Overclockers are impossible to buy from due to bots, but CCL and Scan are pretty easy if you know what you're doing. 6700 XT stock on CCL can stay up for as long as half an hour in some cases, and although the 679 seems overpriced for a Red Devil card, remember you're selling a 5700 xt for 850!

@@jamesnicol9810 thats an amazing price for a pulse card. I sold my 5700 xt on ebay for 850, they took about 80 quid fees off though. Still, around 750 isn't too bad for it :D I tried Facebook Marketplace, but it didn't sell because people don't know how much they're selling for elsewhere. If you're selling on ebay, make sure you don't sell to someone below like 10-20 feedback and record all the reference codes + tracked shipping!

I own it and the silver of the Sapphire Nitro+ looks amazing because it reflects RGB in the case beautifully. It ends up looking like a moonlit shadow with colorful hues all over. Very classic cyberpunk.

Call me back when companies begin doing the water cooled GPUs again. Worked fine on my Fury X, which drawed more than anything short of the 6900XT, while keeping its temps lower than any other GPU I've owned. Would very much like a new version, especially given how cards overclock now, from the manufacturer instead of having to mess about with a waterblock, pump, reservoir etc. There's not really an excuse with how cheap AIOs are nowadays.

Hardwarecanucks if you are able to Team up with GPU manufacturer! Then you guys should ask them to wholesale you a bunch of GPU like 20 to 100 units from each GPU manufacturers. Code named "Battle the Scalpers " or whatever you guy can come up. More money for charity and more gamer who want to game on! Those who agree to buy the GPU should write and agree I am gamer and not a scalpers. Crazy idea for it lots of work but result many will be able to game ! Team Up and Game on ! Of course Entry to win GPU too! Many will be able to buy at retail price! Just an idea for this GPU chaos times. I would sure think those GPU manufacturer should be able to reserved a quantity for your Charity cause!
