I think it is a good decision to focus on noise normalized results rather than OC results. The cooler is not as random as the OC can be. If it is a model specifically for OC though like an unlocked card like the Kingpin then of course it needs to be looked at.

One way to include some OC results, would be to only show the average or median OC of all the available cards as well as the best and worst (without naming them). If using the median it would also mean that very poor or very good cards won't have an effect on the result. That would be interesting to compare with 3060's and 3070s (OC'ed as well) to get and estimate of the potential for overclocking. A minimum of 3-4 cards should likely be used before providing any OC results still.

With a bit of undervolting & overcloking this thing now runs 5% faster than stock while consuming only 186W and GPU temp of 58 degrees (75 hot spot) at full load. Considering that the RTX2060 sells for $750, RTX3060 for $1000, and the 3070 for $1500, the 6700XT for around $900 is without doubt the most sensible choice under the current market!

you are clueless, there's pretty much no difference in performance among the cards. all are powerlimited and locked down.the cheapest custom card will be like 1% slower than the most expensive one. nothing new here. it was the same with turing. im using 3080 so i could not care less but what im saying is facts. you are stupid to pay top-price for a custom card. the most expensive 3070 will never come even close to even the cheapest 3080 and 3070 strix is almost 3080 price. stupid.

is it safe to assume you'll also be ditching oc results for cpu testing moving forward?

I have never bothered with upmarket partner boards... They all seem to perform the same, just some at slightly higher temps, which isn't a deal breaker, especially when they're often much much cheaper! I just ordered a reference 6700xt... It's an ex-mining card, hoping that it is still good as it was released only a year ago. (was only $300 USD)

Very nice when they become in full stock mode and at msrp I might consider this bad boy. :)

I was planning on getting the sapphire nitro, but then I saw the prices on pccg and well, red devil was the only real choice

I recently j got my rx 6700 xt. I spent $700 but it was worth it imo, it’s a great card and will stay in my system for 3-4 years

Kinda heartbreaking to see all this nextgen GPU review from both manufacturers, but you can't really touch any them at reasonable prices....both did big leap from their previous gen....but the stocks and situations right now...kinda sad.....now even 2nd hand cards are 2x or more the SRP....

That is an absurd cooler for a card that should be dual slot 2 fan card if they used decent thermal pads which for some reason most AIBs refuse to do.

I bought the Red Devil version and seems like Hellhound is a better deal, but it is always sold out anyway.

I bought the red devil as well, and it's sick!

The Red Devil seems to be more gentle with the electric bill, if that matters to you.

OK, I bought one of these (it will be delivered on Monday) from the NewEgg Shuffle for $830.00 plus the cost of a Asus Strix Mobo which was part of the bundle. I can use the Mobo. So, it was worth it. It should hold me over until 6800XT's come down in price.

It was a B450 Asus Strix Mobo. Version II
