This seems like the future of keyboards. The type C is also the future, although perhaps more expensive!
@RyTrapp0
@RyTrapp0 3 жыл бұрын
So far, type C has been a shit show with the phones I've had. Charging problems MUCH sooner than with old micro-B equipped phones. At least with micro-B, the cable is what needed replacing first; but the female connector has been the problem with type-C. I've also seen other devices with type-C connectors that had gotten deformed, where I've never seen that before with micro-B(or most every other connector type for that matter). For all the overblown hype we've heard for years, I can't say my life has benefitted from type-C. Maybe the "luxury" of it being symmetrical instead of asymmetrical? It's not like it magically reduced the number of connectors & cables in my life - actually, it just added yet another set because I didn't just throw away everything that wasn't type-C when it came in. I actually bought into the hype too, believed that they were actually going to design a "better" connector - but I'm sure everyone believed that when the previous interfaces(that we now criticize) were introduced too...
@ahmedaihammuththalib5729
@ahmedaihammuththalib5729 3 жыл бұрын
Type-C is still ramping production, this means a trickle down effect of lowered prices as it is more prolifically used. The fact that usb c has better specs, is smaller allowing smaller space for the usb slot, reversible and all that stuff, usb c is just SWEET. It might take a few years for it to start being even more widely adapted

Okay so here we go, I'm going to try to keep this as short as possible: This keyboard is AMAZING, so glad they are doing this, this is EVERYTHING we wanted from the Corsair K100 and MORE. Complaints about this keyboard are for me first of all the detachable numpad, I get some people don't like it and that's fine, however I think they should make another version where the numpad is fully attached, that will make it a bit smaller as well, remove that pattern by the keys which you already said, they need to add dedicated macro keys such as on the Corsair K100 you got G1-G6. I like those and think they should do that, the dedicated media controls are amazing along with the rest of that unit, I will say though I also wish there was a version with it just permanently there in the top right corner or something and the back be a little raised up, the RGB a little brighter and fix the problem with the pure white not being able to show on this because I love that color, the wrist rest would obviously be the full length of the keyboard, and everything else is amazing, I hope to see Corsair do EXACTLY this in the future at a good price and I will easily buy that, another big thing here is only ONE cable with a USB passthrough, that is amazing and needs to be done, it's almost 2021 come on companies

This is almost my dream keyboard, the modular and hot swappable nature of it is what I have been looking for (would love to try this with my zilent V2 switches). I think they could have gone further with modularity in having the arrow, home keys etc in another module or using another, more compact layout such as 75% for the base unit. I suspect that Chinese manufacturers may take the idea and go further with it, especially as they would go with open source software. I think modularity in the self build community is where things will head and I think this has set the bar for what we can expect.

@@PhillioDoede I don't know if its as expensive as it used to be. I mean CNC is mainly about the ramp up (getting more and more units). It will always be more compared casting it. But I am not sure once you have the amount of CNC machines to keep up with regular steady demand, its any worse than going through the smelting and pour casting process. Less oversight and danger as well.

I don't know what realm you are from but CNCing aluminum is a pain in the dick and supremely fucking expensive. Anyone who is remotely in the industry knows this. The only thing more expensive is 3D printing aluminum and those machines are only seen in huge specialized shops and labs.

True, At least with this it seems to feel like you're getting something new out of though, that's what can make it more justifiable in this case imo. Refreshing to see new and actually valuable features for the cost, seems things were pretty well though out here so far.

Someone FINALLY did it. I've been missing my old Sidewinder keyboard with swappable numpad (on the left for macros is the only way to game). But it does a couple years ago and I got hooked on a hotswap mechanical. This is both? Done.

It appears to share some of the design methodology of the old Sidewinder X6 keyboard, which ALSO had a detachable number pad that could be attached to either side of the board.

I like the modularity, especially being able to put the numpad on the left side or to hang it off a cable - great for gaming, especially with those macro keys. The media dock shows potential but I reckon it needs plug-in capabilities or programmability to make it interesting and useful (and at least backlight those buttons!). I'll wait to see what version 2 brings. How rigid is the body when the numpad is plugged in? Say you lift it up to move it, would it flex or break apart?

I love the possibility of plugging the numpad on the left, it's ideal for some games where I wish I had slightly better mouse area but I need the numpad for controls. War Thunder RB comes to mind specially. Where I have engine controls on the numpad, and releasing the mouse to adjust them is risky.

Sweet product, does the keyboard care about which port is used? Could the numpad be connected to one of the type C ports on the top, for example? Also it would be cool if they had another module that is just a bunch of reprogrammable buttons for macros and stuff. Or maybe you could plug in a second numpad for macros.

Loving this keyboard. Having the numpad on the right on a full-size keyboard easily strains my shoulders. Most of my keyboard shortcuts are also on the left side of the keyboard, especially for Blender, so it makes sense for me to have it on the left side. :)

That looks pretty sweet! i just ordered a Corsair k65 rapidfire rgb cause its compact and no numpad. Using with my Lian Li tu150 case build for portability and use of keyboard and mouse on a waiver board for your lap, for more mouse space and ease of keyboard transportation. The Corsair k65 smaller size fits in a back pack lot easier. Wish i would have seen this earlier would have tried this instead. Maybe when the other keyboard i have breaks, i'll get this for more mouse space on my main pc set up.
