That intro cracked me up! Another awesome video in this series. Keep up the great ideas, Josh! Thanks for showing that styrene isn’t as intimidating as many of us thought. That new fuel cell is so much better than the stock one. You did a great job.

I bought a used HG crawler, with Radio, battery, a Trailer & more for 100 bucks. It has an ugly Mercedes body so i plan to do my own $50 rebuild thanks to you. I really liked the scratch built interior, wipers, door-handles, & other things done for Cheep. You should do a series on Totally cheap/scratch built RC items. To me it's Not about just buying the same thing everyone can buy. Building your own out of junk or X-tra parts is where it's at. Thanks a Lot for inspiring me !
@HarleyDesignsInc6 жыл бұрын
Cheap is good in many situations but quality purchased parts in the right place are what make the vehicle able to take the abuse that I put them through. You aren't going to hand build chromoly universal axle shafts or hardened gears. Without things like that, you can find yourself walking back on the trail. That's why I balance purchased parts and inexpensive tricks. I've never really been interested in trying to get something done for that absolute bare minimum.
@thewolf38896 жыл бұрын
I agree, You should never skimp on the drive train or electronics. But the scale items, trim, etc. is where i like making my own. When you made the snorkel what did you put over the layers of plastic before you sanded it ? Was it body filler ? Thanks.

I'm not a fan of lexan for one or styrene but lexan is what most rigs come with & styrene does go well with it. As a metal builder myself, I still very much enjoy what ya'll do with the lexan upgrades & this piece has sweet written all over it! It's an amazing addition that takes the truck to the next level...excellent job!!

Honestly $10 is more than enough to cover the styrene and aluminum. I buy small scrap sheets of that aluminum for $1-2 and you could do a hundred fuel cells for that.

Great as always! Off topic question, can a third channel be shared via y cable to do different tasks- I.E. shift servo and light kit, with relay like the Heyok system. Understandably the lights would only work when switched. Just thought id ask the expert before attempting this. Sorry if this was totally left field..

While it may technically be possible, the amount of add ons it would take, would probably add up to a better radio and have much easier functionality.
