It also shows how much power Ron had. Moody in Book 4 underlined that to use the killing curse, a user would need to have deep intent to kill. Book 6 showed that using non-verbal spells was much more difficult than saying it, as users would lose effectiveness/potency in their spells until they got better used to it. Ron, in about a year, was able to non-verbally use the killing curse, which would take a ton of effort and strength to pull off. Keep in mind, the only other person, in the film, who could non-verbally use Avada Kedavra was Voldemort himself. Every other user had to chant it. Snape on Dumbledore. Bellatrix on Sirius. Worm tail on Cedric Diggory.

I like this death a lot, but wish they'd done away with the stupid "fall off tower on purpose" nonsense and spent that time building the climax by explaining why Harry was the true master of the wand, like they did in the books. And IN FRONT of everyone, like in the books.

@@jeankhast I don't think Voldemort knew that he himself would die by attacking Harry though. They describe in the books how Voldemort just attacked Harry out of rage and denial, refusing to accept the possibility that Harry was now the master of the Elder Wand. 2:15 The bang was like a canon blast and the golden flames that erupted between them, at the dead center of the circle, marked the point where the spells collided. Harry saw Voldemort's green jet meet his own spell, saw the Elder Wand fly high dark against the sunrise, spinning like the head of Nagini through the air towards the master it would not kill, who had come to take full possession of it at last. And Harry, with the unerring skill of the Seeker, caught the wand in his free hand as Voldemort fell backwards, arms splayed, the slit pupils of the scarlet eyes rolling upward. Voldemort was dead, killed by by his own rebounding curse, and Harry stood with 2 wands in his hand, starring down at his enemy's shell.

MH3UME3MP No your wrong. Harry is just as powerful a wizard than Voldemort. Now when it comes to skill in utilizing magic and the knowledge on it. Voldemort outclasess Harry 3x over. I do agree with you though. Voldemort lost because the elder wand was not his. P.S. It was also stated by Snape, that the patronis that saved Harry from the Dementors had to of been cast by an exceptionally powerful wizard. That same wizard being Harry himself.
@brianjensen35767 жыл бұрын
MH3UME3MP First off Voldemort was not the most powerful wizard of all time. Dumbledore was the strongest wizard off all time until his death at the hands of Snape. Voldemort stated that the only wizard he fears is dumbledore. As I stated, in terms of potential. Harry has just as much talent as Voldemort. Voldemort has lived far longer than Harry. So he is more proficient and knowledgeable at mage craft than almost every wizard around (except Dumbledore). It is you my friend that overestimates Voldemort. Talent and knowledge are two different things. I already agreed that if the wand was Voldemort’s, Harry would have had no chance. I’m only saying that Harry is by no means a weak wizard, and is most certainly not your average one.
@brianjensen35767 жыл бұрын
MH3UME3MP First off I never switched my statement. I said he was “just as“ powerful. You really need to learn the difference between strength and talent. I stated multiple times that Voldemort was the superior wizard. Another thing, we know little of Tom Riddles time at Hogwarts, so you have no proof of what he was capable at his last year. Also Harry is by no means just an average wizard. An “average” wizard cannot conjure such a powerful patronis. He is gifted with the talent to become a great wizard. That’s plain and simple. I don’t know why you keep trying to drive the fact that Voldemort is so much superior. I’m aware of the skill gap between the two. Now I’m tired of debating this man. Just leave it alone. Your not going to change my view on the subject.

I was always confused why Voldy turned to ash despite no spell having been cast on him, but then I realized. His soul wasn't split into seven. Every time he halved it, it halved again. Half of his soul (and therefore his charisma and humanity) was in the diary, leaving only a quarter for the next Horcrux, and less for the next, and the next. At this point he barely has any soul left at all. He probably just used up the last of his lifeforce casting the spell, and with no Horcruxes left to tie him to life, his tiny piece of soul vanished, leaving his magically made body to turn back to dust.

Although I love this scene (and the film), I must admit that the book version is much better. Indeed, in the book, when Harry reveals himself to Voldemort, when he shows that he is still alive, begins a battle of words where Harry and Voldemort confront. Harry explains some important things that put the nerves to Voldemort. This verbal confrontation is so intense that Voldemort finally lost patience and launched a "Avadakedavra" Harry while at the same time, launching a "Expelliarmus." The spell of Voldemort turns against its own launcher and destroyed because the Elder Wand does not belong to him. In the book, the scene is even more interesting and exciting because, as before spells are cast, Harry tries to feel remorse Voldemort what Voldemort is unable to do, given that he does not know the power of love.

Glad you enjoyed that part of the movie though but it actually sucks. Except under very rare circumstances, wands don't connect that way. Spells actually DO things: make a person tickle, enlarge their teeth, disguise them like a chameleon etc. In the books, all that happens is that both shoot two different spells at each other (which do collide, but not in some laser wand way) and Voldemort's Killing Curse rebounds on him because Harry is the true master of the Elder Wand and Voldemort's Killing Curse cast from the Elder Wand won't kill its own master. There is so much lore in the books that's removed to simplify it for movie audiences.

He seriously needed to have a better recap convo with the Death Eaters
In the sixth book, when Dumbledore and Harry go into the pensive into one of Dumbledore’s memory, there is Voldemort who came back to the castle to take a teaching position. Everything about this scene is just epic and emotional from 2:09 to 2:50 When Neville destroyed the last horcrux you can see the sense of terror and anxiety in Voldemort's eyes then Harry looks back at him realizing this as well.....looking at his now very weak arch nemesis straight in the eye one final time as he uses his signature Expelliarmus spell while Voldemort uses his signature Avada Kedavra curse. Voldemort begins fading......Harry disarms him catches the Elder wand and cracks a smile as he watches the nightmare that has ruined his life for so many years disappear before his very eyes knowing as well that no one will ever have to die or sacrifice themselves to protect him again.

@rahoward894 жыл бұрын
"Tom Riddle hit the floor with a mundane finality, his body feeble and shrunken, the white hands empty, the snakelike face vacant and unknowing. Voldemort was dead, killed by his own rebounding curse, and Harry stood with two wands in his hands, staring down at his enemy's shell." I will never know why the director thought Voldemort fading into ash was better than him falling to the floor around everyone watching in the Great Hall.
@frisby71434 жыл бұрын
agreed, by him dying like this. It shows how mortal he became
@christianb5724 жыл бұрын
I think it’s because that having Voldemort fade into ash shows that Voldemort was never truly living. He had delved so deeply into the dark arts to bring himself back that he was not even human anymore. The horcruxes were the only thing anchoring him to life and to his new shell of a body, and his new body was just to feeble to survive without them since Voldemort didn’t really have a soul anymore. It’s just my interpretation anyway. The book variant is certainly better in some ways.

The more I watch this scene, the more I think that Harry didnt actually kill Voldemort; his body became unstable once Nagini was destroyed and that one last gasp of a spell used up his life force, turning him to dust. He had nothing left tying him to the mortal world. His own body wasnt even his own, it was magical in nature.

I thought it was more a matter of the allegiance of the Elder Wand. Like, in the course of their duel, Harry's demonstration of strength outweighed that of Voldemort's, resulting in the Elder Wand selecting allegiance to Harry over Voldemort and, in turn, causing Voldemort's Killing Curse to rebound upon himself.
@CaarabaloneDZN3 жыл бұрын
Nah, the elder wand was serving harry, because he desarmed draco who desarmed dumbledore, and refused to kill him. So the avada kedavra ricochetted and killed voldemort.

@legion89153 жыл бұрын
@@shahanahsan05 Eh, it's not implausible. Voldemort's new body was conjured up by magic, without the remainder of his soul, there was nothing human left in it. I get the point behind giving him a mundane death, what he feared the most, but this version works better in a visual medium.

Man this movie was great. I almost feel bad for Voldemort by the end of that movie just how you could see the tears welling up in his eyes as the last horcrux was destroyed, he knew he was defeated. Yesnt, well yes but more accruate is just the spell colours are just of that colour, avada kedavra being green cause of its inherit evilness due to the fact it kills and expellimarus is red with it being powerful but not evil (I think? Not 100% sure tho so no judge :c)

Yes, but they are also inverse of each other as Harry's eyes are green and Voldemort's eyes are red in the books.
@seb0rn7393 жыл бұрын
No, it's because Avada Kedavra is always green (except when Snape used it on Dumbledore, it was blue because Snape didn't really wanted to kill Dumbledore and Avada Kedavra requires the intention to kill) and Expelliarmus is always red. It has nothing to do with their houses. Slytherins aren't necessarily evil.

As much as I liked this scene, the book fight had much more impact. Harry being able to cast protego to protect his loved ones from the killing curse was awesome in itself. But him facing Voldemort with pity in the great hall, their conversation while everyone watched... it might not have been the most actionish endfight, but it was way more epic. I still get goosebumps reading that chapter

Eh. This scene works best in the cinema, that scene works best in written form. They're each crafted for their respective mediums.

Yeah, what ive somewhat missed in the movies is that Harry really just pitied Voldemort at the end. There wasnt even much hate against Voldemort in him anymore, just pity for a man who never loved anything in his life, a man who was never TRULY happy. It made for a far more interesting dynamic between them before their final fight. Voldemort absolutely despised Harry like no one else ever, while Harry pitied him as one of the saddest beings hes ever seen.

Woody.EXE is the most caring family member yet

Yeah, I also wish that the original death of Voldemort stayed the same where it wasn't some fariytale-ish death but he simply flopped to the ground like any other person. It showed that no matter what he did to avoid death, he died with no more dignity than any of the people he killed.

From the time of his birth Voldemort knew nothing of love. His birth was due to a love potion given to Tom Riddle Sr by his mother Merope. All his life he had not known true love, and was bullied and ostracised and isolated from all children. The result was because of his affinity for magic which he used for his own purpose, not realising what he was doing was further alienating him from the others, and sub consciously contributed more and more to his cold personality. The revelation of him being a wizard did nothing to assuage that attitude, merely an increased arrogance, thirst for knowledge and power and, upon the discovery of his Muggle father and his actions, he developed a hatred for Muggles(though he didn't realise this was due to his mother who was a witch). This cold behaviour increased more and more even under the nose of the man who discovered his dark side. He also had an innate fear of death, as he viewed his mother's death as weakness, which was further brought upon by the belief that his mother was not a witch, but his father was, and the idea that a witch would be this weak strengthened his resolve to clear the world of all Muggles. The obsession over how to win over death continued until the prophecy, when he learned that a boy born at the end of July would vanquish him, which he interpreted as his obstacle to freedom. Having picked out Harry has the boy, he tried to kill him, only to find Lily blocking him. He might have realised something when he saw Lily trying to protect her son, but the thought of his mother being so weak erased all logic and instead supplanted the idea that all mothers are weak, further exacerbated by the fact that she was a Muggle. Even then, as per Snape's request, he asked her to move aside, and when she didn't, he killed her as well. It was the first time he felt the pain that others felt by his and his followers' hands, when he cast the killing curse on Harry, due to the protection spell of love surrounding him, which Voldemort didn't understand at all. Even when he had been revived, Voldemort still didn't understand the power behind the spell and instead wanted to be able to hurt Harry or atleast be able to touch him, which made the fragment of soul in Harry's body even more vulnerable(which in the first place was also why Harry was paired with the phoenix feather wand, but due to his pure heart, was given holly as the wood in contrast to Voldemort's yew wand). Even the logic of the Deathly Hallows Voldemort never understood, because his belief of the Master of Death was wrong( Voldemort believed that the three hallows would prevent him from death, when actually the Master of Death was one who wasn't afraid of death, who would die willingly if that meant his loved ones could survive). Ably guided by Dumbeldore, Harry was the one who united the Hallows indirectly without any knowledge of doing so, and in the end, Voldemort could only watch his own demise from limbo as the boy who he tried to kill, who had nothing to do with his goals, was the one who emerged truly knowledgeable and the greatest wizard of all time.

What I find about Voldemort's death pretty dark is the fact that he could never move on to the afterlife after his death with him being stuck in limbo due to his soul being shattered into so many pieces for him to put in the horcruxes
