After a decade of movies, the Harry Potter film series came to an end in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. The whole series was a massive worldwide phenomenon and the final movie alone grossed over 1.3 billion at the box office!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 definitely raises some questions though. Like why is Harry getting strategic visions of Voldemort and not the other way around? Why doesn’t Voldemort send his super important snake away from the massive battle taking place? Why didn’t any of the really helpful magical things introduced in previous movies come into play? Why did Harry name his kid Albus Severus?
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2!

Yep. The final battle of the series wasn't for the fate of the Wizarding World and what both sides were fighting for. It was for the MacGuffin just introduced very late in the story.

To me it's insane that there IS a super wand in the first place. At no point in the movies was there ever implied wands would have any kind of property beyond "fitting materials" for the user. Then suddenly wand-ownership-laws are introduced and a "super wand". How is it different? The only "different" wand we saw was Rons broken wand, every other wand worked EXACTLY the same, it was never brought up that somehow some wands are better than others.

I also didn't like new mechanics of the horcruxes. I'm positive those things were never meant to be horcruxes, especially the objects from the early books. And people believe Rowling's claims that all of these were set in stone 30 years ago.
@Shuizid
@Shuizid Жыл бұрын
@@TomCruz54321 Yeah no - in terms of magic, HP is just a collection of ideas, none fleshed out, none used to their full potential or implemented in a world that actually feels like it itself actually knows the rules. The "secret" magic world randomly decides Muggle cannot see magic (people running into a freaking pillar at a train station) or can (flying cars). They have candy that might taste like literal actual shit, trading cards that most of the time don't show the character, no electricalal items but also no magic equivalent (like security cameras, mobile phones) or just downright worse versions of toys like trading cards where people have to actively look at a mirror to show up. And to this day, I have no idea what the point of the hocrruxes was. Despite having several, like half the series is spent on trying to fully revive Voldi, without ever utilizing them in any way.

@@leonglitch Then I refer you back to the first comment in this thread. It's a little different when it's your main actor across an extended series; you've got the actor you want, contacts aren't appropriate, and that's a lot of CGI for a tiny detail where the relevant part is just that they match someone else's. Kid Lily is in a few scenes. If they couldn't get an actress with matching eyes and she couldn't wear contacts, that would have been a much less significant thing to edit. They could have just redirected the budget that was used to turn Voldemort into confetti.

I guess so the Goblins can keep hidden their method of dealing with would-be thieves. Only the few families who had deep down vaults would know about the waterfall, and even then, they would not necessarily know what it did. So in general, the bank's reputation dissuaded thieves, without letting out too much info on why "you'd be mad to try and rob it"
@princessthyemis
@princessthyemis Жыл бұрын
oh yeah! But also he's got a point. SHe should have thought of something at the entrance to make their break-in harder...But a huge waterfall at the door would've been a great image! As every dungeon master knows, you put easy obstacles at the start of the dungeon (ex: "elderly goblin") and small amounts of loot, but then as you get deeper and deeper to get the really good loot, you get more and stronger enemies (ex: "goblin militia" ), boss monsters (ex: "albino dragon") and elaborate traps.

@SomeYouTubeTraveler
@SomeYouTubeTraveler Жыл бұрын
@@randomstrategy7679 Indeed. The majority of thieves prolly make their plan based on the stuff they can scope out at the front gates. If the trump card was sitting right out front, all the groupthink effort would've been put towards getting past it. The Gringotts goblins didn't count on anyone literally riding their trump card to safety (if there's any theme to the Wizarding World, it's hubris of those who enslave those they view as "lesser beings" [and yes, I know it's ironic]). It's for sure true in good D&D, and probably true in real life as well. I assume that the ways to get past most national security things, like the nuclear football, the bunkers of any head of state's residence, or high-secrecy sites like Area 51 go a good 5 levels deeper than whatever we see in the movies, too. No country would be stupid enough to have all their most powerful deterrents widely known about and sitting at the front door.

It always bothered me that Harry chose to name his second kid after Snape, I get that Snape's sacrifice saved the wizarding world but he and Harry had a horrible in person relationship. In general the "forgetting" all the magical solutions and such that they introduce over the series is one of the main problems I have with it. Also the fact that in a world with essentially infinite possibilities, the vast majority of magic combat comes down to a generic beam struggle and just using an "instant death" spell instead of the countless other potential methods of attack that magic entails, and that would probably be more effective unless their opponents can come up with a proper counterspell in an instant. Why not use more spells that do things like turn the ground beneath your opponent to lava, or create a vacuum bubble around them, or send physical blades flying at them from behind, etc?

When you're already familiar with the books before seeing the films, it can be difficult to pick out the details the films just don't remotely bother to explain - especially when that's about details previous films didn't bother to explain. I liked the part where Neville destroyed the last horcrux. When the prophecy occurred, it could have been referring to Harry or Neville. Voldemort supposedly attacked Harry because he was a halfblood like himself. But Neville still took part in Voldemort's downfall by destroying Voldemort's final horcrux. If I understand correctly, Harry survived Voldemort's death curse because he was tied to Voldemort by having part of his soul, and Voldemort was immortal until Neville killed Nagini.

1. Hermione not only wiped her Parents memories off, she sent them to Australia, so that no one could ask them anything. There in book. 2. All the good guys DID fly in different directions. That was exactly the plan. That's what confused the D. Eaters and saved the Good guys. 3. Harry doesn't go the Weasley's house at first. He goes to Andromeda's, Sirius' other sister ( i believe) and from there went to Weasley's. 4. The locket's plan want to strike fear solely. It was to show all things bad that could pass, would pass for Ron, unless he accepted the locket and keep it with himself. The locket would give Ron the strength to get all he wanted. 5. They can't disapparate when the bad guys catch them, as they caught in their tent and then put Anti disaaparate spell around. 6. Harry visions aren't two ways, because it is Voldemort's soul stuck in him. Not the other way round. 7. The Dungeons IS the place where Slytherin lives. 8. At the end Harry comes back because, he is the master of the Deathly Hallows and Voldemort has his blood, tying him to the world. Both at the same time. 9. Harry wasnt lucky with the wand. Dumbledore planned it to be passed to Harry and later Harry figured it out its his too. When talking to the Goblin who takes them to the Gringotts vault.

I wish he had included the fact that the last 20 min, literally from the moment Harry popped up from Hagrid's arms and yelled "surprise!", was needlessly different than the far better ending of the book. Primarily, the drawing out of Nevill killing the snake, which was far more impactful when he was being tortured, forced to recall his murdered parents who died in the same fashion by Volde and co, and then pulled sword out of the very thing used to torture him, yelled "surprise." immediately attacking in a moment of bravery and revenge that had finally come to a head. Instead of shocking everyone with such a boss power move, catching even Voldemort completely off guard, he dawdles about clumsily for ten minutes before getting lucky. And of course, the fact that Harry and Voldemort actually had their final battle in the middle of the freakin' great hall, where they had both stood as students and come to love the school, in front of literally everyone left alive, good and bad, in an epic final battle for the ages. Winner here gets all the marbles. There's stakes involved. Instead, it happens out in some random courtyard, all alone, with the pointless melding camera trickery. The whole impact of the moment seven books were building up to was treated as a subtle nod or afterthought. No satisfaction, whatsoever, for Harry, his friends, or the viewing audience. No message to all parties that it ends here, now. Hell, in the movie, Harry walks back into the great hall after defeating V and everyone else was cleaning up. It makes no sense, considering that the good wizards were outnumbered in the book and about to lose, staging a last ditch defense in the great hall, which was stopped by the clash between the two main characters. The script was written perfectly in the book, but they had to alter it for pointless cinematic moments meant to look cool, rather than actually be impactful, meaningful, and satisfying. It's bothered me since I watched it in the theaters the day it opened.
