I like how rides like this are basically in a warehouse with props placed around, but when the lights are off you can’t even tell for the most part.

Some of them you can’t see on the ride anymore. They used to have it lit up more in that section of the ride, but later on made it darker, as people were complaining about it being too scary.
@markbundles2

Those static dementors were originally going to be lit up via blacklights and/or strobe lights. but Universal Executives or J.K. Rowling herself deemed it "too scary". Now, they just sit in the dark, mostly unseen!

That’s pretty accurate. Most people don’t even know that. It actually never opened with them in Orlando. The powers that be outside UO asked the light rack to be turned off because it was too intense. Now. Here’s the gag. Once the money poured in. They payed lesser attention and some things just happened and no one said anything ie. the light rack IS on in Hollywood. Also why it took so long to get the lockers built outside the dungeons while all the other places were just starting to be built that way.

It's nice to see that Aragog (the giant spider) is still as terrifying with lights on as he is in the dark with strobe lighting XD While I've not had the lights-on experience. My mom and I were on the ride a year or so after the debut and we ended up nearly on our backs facing the dragon when the ride stalled. It was only for about a minute or so, thankfully and the ride finished normally.

Honestly this is a fantastic video to show just how incrediblely important the design of the actual ride "vehicle" is as far as its ability to immerse you in the visuals. You realize with the lights on how simple it all ultimately is.

After being on this ride more times than I can count, the only thing that surprised me about this video was how many Dementors are actually used in this attraction. With how things are lit on the ride, I've only noticed maybe a few of them, but not all of them. However, I've noticed effects have changed over the years (including the Dementors AAs / effects) and wonder if some of those are static now.

@@andersonroofing589 Makes sense. They really get in your face. I wonder if it's been a gradual thing since I do not recall that many attacking at once any point from what I recall. I've been going since a little before it opened in the summer of 2010 since I'm an AP. I've noticed that particular part has changed here and there over the years, just wondered how much has changed that I haven't even noticed. I remember when it used to project the actual faces of guests when the dementors would "suck your soul". I wonder when that effect was turned off too.

It looks like it's also with the arms on the ride vehicles not necessarily doing what they'd do during the actual ride. A lot of the reason you don't notice you're in a big empty building is that for large stretches of the ride, you're facing a concave screen that is moving with the ride vehicle, temporarily turning it into a projection simulator. But the benches often aren't facing the screens in this video.

@Shag471
@Shag471 Жыл бұрын
@@skippepper3168 Yes it is. It’s on a separate Kuka arm but sometimes it won’t work. Each effect is given a point value, some are given 1 point and some are given 5 points. The Willow has a 5 point value. But if the total number of points go over 10 at any given time, they cannot board guests until that number is 10 or under. Since there there are a TON of effects on FJ you can see how quickly they can add up. We didn’t have the Floo Powder (steam) in Orlando for over a year but that has a low point value.
@OldBonesCreative

@@Shag471 Can you clarify how this point system works? Seems odd to set a "limit" on how many effects can be operational in order for the ride to...operate.
@Shag471
@Shag471 Жыл бұрын
@@OldBonesCreative Universal does this with all of their attractions that have effects. They give each effect a point value in order to help keep show value for guests. Some effects with point values aren’t even in the ride but in the rides queue. Take for instance The Sorting Hat at FJ in the queue just before guests board. Should that effect’s audio stop working at any given time, Team Members have to stop loading guests onto the benches until the audio returns because it gives safety information. Same goes for the moving portraits in the Gryffindor Common Room. This is also the reason why guests with disabilities utilizing the Secondary load platform must pass through the room first instead of going directly to the platform. While the point system is for keeping a good show, other effects have to be kept in condition for guest safety.

What a lot of people fail to realize is that rides at universal (specifically, idk about other parks so just Universal) break down a lot because there is never an off season. The rides are operating over 15 hours a day and barely get any rest or mechanical work done because there’s no time to do it over night. Sometimes universal is open till 1am and then opens the next day at 7:45 for EPA. Techs never have time to actually take a moment and work on the ride for a long time. Plus theme parks like UO never ever have a full day where they’re closed so they’re open 365 days of the year over 15 hrs a day…. Rides are gonna break down for technical reasons if they never have a long time to just chill and get repaired/ checked on like they should ESPECIALLY when guests get mad and start yelling and physically harassing team members at the parks because of any short or long delay
