Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today discussing wizarding prisons. A few months back I broke down all of the known SCHOOLS in the international wizarding community, and today, similar to that, I’m going to be pivoting to international prisons. Everyone knows Azkaban, but do you know the other 7?

I don't think the Hogwarts one really counts since it seems clear that it's just meant to hold someone until the ministry of magic comes which I think it makes sense for Hogwarts to have holding cells would say all the schools should have them just in case a teacher or student goes bad or someone bad shows up on school grounds

Love your videos man. Had no idea there are 8 wizard prisons. Azkaban is like the Alcatraz of Wizard prison, probably were Azkaban gets its name from. Both begin with A, both have a Z, and both are 3 syllables.

The name actually derives from Hebrew, but the island nature of the prison did take inspiration for Alcatraz

There's actually a secret 9th prison which was the movie theater where i was forced to watch The Secrets of Dumbledore

There was also the Hero Factory Basement, known as the Villain Storage Unit or Lockup. Umbitch is said to have went there to await transfer to Kamino for live dissection following the Wizengamot’s decision to send her there. This is likely due to the Galactic Republic continuing to ask for someone with Anti-Chlorians, aka magic, to dissect in an effort to find a “Cure” for magic.

8? i only knew about Azkaban and nermingard castle. Well that mostly the base of a terrorist but. it was also used to imprison him.

I have my own ideas for a couple of wizarding prisons in America. One of them is called Aylesworth Asylum for the Criminally Insane, which is an American wizarding prison, psychiatric hospital, and sanatorium for convicted wizarding criminals and dark forces in the United States, including those of international origins, and even the most dangerous, too. Located and headquartered in the Great Basin Desert in Nevada, the sanatorium was founded and established in the early 18th Century with the approval of MACUSA by Abidan Aylesworth, a Ranger that dedicated his life to capturing wizarding criminals and dark forces after his mother was murdered by a mentally ill dark wizard who was also a dangerously wanted criminal. Aylesworth is the American equivalent of Azkaban. Another of them is called the Crater, which is a specialized and privatized supermaximum security wizarding prison for wizarding criminals and dark forces that are considered to be the most dangerous in the world, irrespective of their magical blood statuses and nationalities, located deep underground in the Mojave Desert and is considered to be more larger than Azkaban. It is officially run and operated by the International Confederation of Wizards.

i wonder if the "black tower" might have been for students or other young witches and wizards that broke the law but not to the extent were they was sent to some of the worse fassilites. i could also see it been used as a detention area etc at a earlier time. we do know that the schools punishment system was suposedly a lot harser before and it was dumbledore or some before him (think it was dumbledore or maybe the previous one but under heavy presure from dumbledore that got rid of a lot of the worse punishments)

I think you can also find the Dark Tower Prison in Hogwarts Legacy. Its not marked, iirc. But, you can find a blocked off room at the top of a tower, with cells/cages in it. If they're cages, they're big enough for your character to walk around in.

This is just a question answer if you like but why didn't they just kill Bellatrix and all the evil wizards that were loyal to Voldemort granted we wouldn't get serious in the series but that would go a long way to helping in the 7th and 6th book where all the death eaters get loose if there's less and less of them then Voldemort can't make his army Harry wins easier impossibly Dumbledore survives through some miracle

Voldemort wasn't born evil. He was born with a mental disorder due to his family tree before Tom Riddle being a stick
