And this Aussies would falter & start loosing the series not when India starts with a win in Perth or 1 century/2- 50s from VK, RP or YJ or fifer by JB,Siraj, Jadeja; rather when CONSISTENTLY the top 4 Indian batsman, inning after innings DOES NOT get out early, Stays there in the crease for long ( without scoring much) and then Hazelwood, Cummin, starc & Leon s mind would start getting frustrated as right now they must be thinking they will rip through the indian top order with pace bounce getting the indian batsmans nicking to slip/wk. The bigger question in my opinion is, who plays the Hanuma Vihari role? He was the kind of batsman who could hold innings in the lower middle order as well as could come up and play the defensive role that Pujara plays. He is an equally big miss in the squad.

For Ind to have any chance of competing in this series, all their top 5 batters have to be in top form right through the series to give the bowlers a cushion. Shot selection for Indian batters would be key, as the majority of players in the XI are from the T20 fraternity!! To make things tough, Oz bowlers won't give an inch to work with; we don't have players like Pujara and Rahane to grind for hours!! We all know what Pant can do if he stays at the crease for more than 3hours, so it is that kind of effort Ind badly needs from Top 5 batters else it will be the same old story of Aus steamrolling this much-hyped Ind side, fingers crossed it does not happen that way!! Aussies have been in a very good form this WTC cycle and now they have to emulate their Tasman brother NZ who just created history. They have to go for a kill right away as starting 3rd test they will have to face younger talent of India which might be difficult challenge for tiring Aus pacers. India will not be playing the Pujaraball as opposed to Bazball this series but still fresh Indian reserves (India has an extended squad already). In fact Pujar used to put pressure on his team by blocking only not scoring anything. The A side batters faced the Aussie bowlers who don’t play IPL while Starc, Cummiins and Hazy are all well know from IPL and hence, A side batsmen may show better survival rate against Aussie bolwers. They want to play KL at all costs despite his flop shows across formats before BGT and also in current Australian tour. Even Jurel who impressed so nicely despite being on the same flight KL was on. KL staged a dismal show as expected while Jurel probably kick started his career in style. Eswaran is another case where KL despite all his sins is being considered while Eswaran is getting punished for his poor showing in A games. Before, this we saw a shocking episode where Sarfarz who was the sole bright point of drubbing against NZ after his 150 but was considered to be dropped in the next game to retain KLR. Poor Sarfraz has no chance to make the Perth test XI which poses a serious question as to why he was selected for Aussie tour when his technique was not deemed fit for Aus conditions. While a section of the Aus media is praising Team India/Kohli making it a friendly tour rather than any type of rivalry but there is panic in team administration who have no clue on selection issues. Kohli is great, a King and still the blue eye chap of the sponsors, so he has to be at the ground but it is affecting his reputation because he has been falling short of fans expectations for far too long now and may lose the brands that he is endorsing. It would be nice to see his 3 hundreds that fans are talking about but for that he has to be in fine form, he used to be many years back. If he was in such good form then he should have played the warm up A games but he didn’t. However, God has helped Rohit who is on parental leave and will luckily missing be the first 2 tests (alongwith Gill) when most of the havoc my unfold. It is like the 36AO series where he was under cloud after poor displays for MI in IPL and did not travel with the team India. This time he left team India with no captain as Kohli may play like an on-field coach for Bumrah alongside Gambhir. Like the 36AO series, looks like this time new talent will save India and KL/Kohli will be replaced after first 2 tests after all with others available net-players and we might get new Pant, Gill or an all rounder like Thakur. Ideally, home whitewash was a lesson that new blood is required for the Aussie tour but somehow the management could not take any action may be due to the sponsorship issues to include certain players.

KL is ok.. He can manage opening or #6 for the 1st test... Lower order batting is ok too - if they select Washy / Jadeja (should have got Hardik instead of Nithish).. But the problem is Rohit & Virat.. Rohit will try at least (as he is Captain).. Virat - No question he is the #1 talented (from both teams) but would take Marnus any day than Virat .. We will (had to) wait for Virat on 4th innings (2nd test / 2nd innings) albeit on a losing cause to even see a decent performance.. 3rd / 4th test - he will surely get a century but by then series would be lost.. I would be more than Happy and will eat my words - if he proves me wrong.. (end of the day - we all want India to win).. Bowling - We are missing a trick - Yash Dayal / Natrajan / Arshdeep should have been there - instead of Rana .. They will at least have swing unlike Mitch (who can swing or bang)..At least play Aakash / Mukesh rather than Rana for the 1st test..
