A little info on wood burners. Steel stoves are cheaper, and can be bent to form all kinds of shapes. Steel stoves are lined with firebrick because the steel can't take the heat. The firebrick insulates the stove from the heat............and your house isn't getting all of the heat the wood creates when you burn it. Cast iron can take the fire directly, and give all of the heat to your home. Add a catalytic element, and it ignites the smoke and reclaims those BTU's you send up the chimney in a plane stove. Cast iron catalytic wood burners are the best for those reasons.
@timapple6586Ай бұрын
I had a swanky top-end catalytic woodstove for 10yrs. But for the past 30yrs I've had a "plane stove", as you call it hehe (ok I've heard of a 'rocket stove' but it has nothing to do with aviation). Much lower maintenance, much cheaper wood, and I don't have to babysit a chimney thermometer around the clock. Please also note that Cody burns pine - not $300-a-cord white ash. The claims you make are true in theory, but dubious in practice. And if you truly believe that refractory bricks rob you of heat, please research masonry stoves such as kachelöfens that function on the principle of thermal mass and heat distribution.
@spockmcoyissmart961Ай бұрын
@@timapple6586 I’ve had vermont casting catalytic since 1984. Before cat engaged and after is a huge difference in heat output. Once stove is at temp, engage cat. Wood burning slows down, with steady heat. I burn far less wood.

Have you considered putting the stairs sideways, starting from near the wall and connecting them at the edge of the second floor? Anyhow, it's coming together great. I still think the whole cabin could've been a tad larger, given that you are big dude, but it's still great. Keep up the great work!

As an American that has lived in Canada for over 20 years I believe most Americans do not even know where Saskatchewan is let alone everything that comes from the country. It’s a great place to live though despite what you may hear.
