I was there too though I would say I outright rejected some behaivors. This when in bible college and walked up on a bunch of "preacher boys" in a circle discussing White and the book. After a few minutes of listening in, someone asked me what I thought of James White? My answer? "I don't think anything of James white. I know nothing about him, never heard him preach or teach nor read any books or articles he might have written so I do not think anything of him. How can I? I know nothing about him." That did not go over well in that circle and future ones. Obviously more to this story I am not sharing. Unbeknownst to me-I did not know he was a Calvinist as the summer before (this was in the fall semester so not really too far from this conversation) I had adopted Calvinism from just studying the scriptures both sides appealed to. In fact I will say this-as much as I have learned about KJV Onlyism and Calvinism from James White-adopted or dispensed with a belief without his influence....I am sure he influenced me on KJV Onlyism as I would not leave that view until many years later. It was because I thought to myself one day-there is nothing in the text of scriptures about English, the KJV or a 17th century monarch comissioning a translation-can I say my view is really bible based since I cannot find anything about the KJV in the scriptures? That was good enough for me and I believe it was the Holy Spirit who planted that thought in my mind.

Calvinism is just another form or branch of Catholicism! Infant baptism. Salvation only found in their man made system. Torture in Hell ! Listen to James Whites founder: God arranges all things by his sovereign counsel, in such a way that individuals are born, who are doomed from the womb to certain death and are to glorify him by their destruction.( John Calvin Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 23, Paragraph 6) Like the Catholic Priests, Calvinists really like to dressing up in Black and wear large crosses around their necks. They are both teach in a love less and arrogant manner. Both systems burned people at the stake for disagreeing with them. Where do you sign up? Or perhaps you want to Follow Jesus Christ as told in the Bible. He loves you and wants to save you! Listen to this. 1 Timothy 2 : 3-6 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. TRUTH IN LOVE

@@mkshffr4936 So right. The pope job was taken so Calvin knew he could start a new heresy and the same gullable people would follow him. It worked and is still working today. The public record doesn't go away. Calvinists have tried to bury things like this article but it just won't bury! Look at the body count of the new pope of Calvinism John Calvin. The victims are listed, followed by references, (A)…(L), the URLs of which are at the bottom. A. Execution 1. Jacques Gruet (A)”Thus the State issued dogmatic decrees, the force of which had been anticipated earlier, as when Jacques Gruet, a known opponent of Calvin, was arrested, tortured for a month and beheaded on July 26, 1547, for placing a letter in Calvin’s pulpit calling him a hypocrite. Gruet’s book was later found and burned along with his house while his wife was thrown out into the street to watch.” (C)”Calvin cut off the head of Jacques Gruet “for having written impious letters, libertine verses, and for working to overthrow ecclesiastical ordinances.” (D)Quoting Stephan Zweig’s “The Right to Heresy”: “Jacques Gruet was racked and then executed merely for having called Calvin a hypocrite.” (E)”This regime was resisted by a party incorrectly described as ‘Libertines’, which Calvin succeeded in overcoming by force. Among the opponents executed after torture were Jacques Gruet (1547), Raoul Monnet (1549), and, best known, Michael *Servetus (1553).” (F)”Even eminent men were not safe from Calvin’s control. Jacques Gruet was beheaded for blasphemy, treason, and a threat to the ministers.” (J) 2. Giovanni Valentino Gentile (A)and(G)”Another victim of Calvin’s fiery zeal was Gentile of an Italian sect in Geneva, which also numbered among its adherents Alciati and Gribaldo. More or less Unitarian in their views, they were required to sign a confession drawn up by Calvin in 1558. Gentile signed it reluctantly, but in the upshot he was condemned and imprisoned as a perjurer. He escaped only to be twice incarcerated at Berne where, in 1566, he was beheaded.” (H) & (I) Very full accounts of Gentile 3. Michael Servetus Is much needed about him? Is there any debate about his murder? (A) (C)”Seven years before the conference which was now to take place in Calvin’s house on the proposals of the queen-mother, Michel Servet, a Frenchman, travelling through Switzerland, was arrested at Geneva, tried, condemned, and burned alive, on Calvin’s accusation, for having “attacked the mystery of the Trinity,” in a book which was neither written nor published in Geneva.” (E)(J) 4. Raoul Monnet (E) (J)page 223 “This regime was resisted by a party incorrectly described as “Libertines, which Calvin succeeded in overcoming by force.Among the opponents executed after torture were Jacques Gruet (1547), Raoul Monnet (1549), and best known, Michael Servetus (1553). By 1555, however, all resistance had ceased and Calvin was the uncontested master of the city.” 5. Others (A)”Calvin also had twenty women burned at the stake after accusing them of causing a plague that had swept through Geneva in 1545.” (A)”Calvin did not shrink from his self-appointed task. Within five years fifty-eight sentences of death and seventy-six of exile, besides numerous committals of the most eminent citizens to prison, took place in Geneva.” (F)”A heretic who also was an anti-Trinitarian was burned at the stake.” NOTE: Probably Servetus B. Banishment (mere banishment!) 1. And yet it would appear that he did not even meet the basic requirements of a NT overseer/bishop as to godly character! 1 Tim 3:2 An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money. The New Testament approach to false teachers is the precise opposite of what Calvin’s modus operandi was: 2 Tim 2:24 The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, 25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses {and escape} from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will. As to the relationship of his doctrine to his practice, as he plainly taught that everything that happens is God’s will (I can provide the quotes if you would like), then it necessarily follows that he considered everything he did as God’s will, even having his detractors beheaded, burned at the stake, or banished. I’m saying that one’s theology inevitably works out in one’s practice, and this was all too apparent in the life of John Calvin. If I had someone who disagreed with my theology put to death (had I the political power Calvin had), would I be qualified to teach the Word of God? One’s actions don’t have any bearing on the authenticity of one’s teaching? It seems to me that we should hold ANY theologian to the same moral standard as any other teacher in the body of Christ. john@revivaltheology.net YES John Calvin is Calvinism. Is this the man they hold up as a man of God? This information about this monsters life is in the public record and cannot be swept under the carpet. By their fruit you shall know them. I’m a former IFB, my old church actually supported Brother Alexander’s ministry. One of the main reasons I left is because of this whole, “only listen to other IFBs! Don’t listen to anyone else!” It’s a bubble, an echo chamber. Frankly, it’s very cult-like. I’m glad I left. A denomination like theirs survives on deception, but they have a huge problem these days because information is abundant and free. Their people can easily look up what they’re being taught and see that it is blatantly false. IFB days are numbered. It’s only a matter of time before this already small denomination shrinks into nothing. The sooner the better.

@@mrpeanut517 _"i bet you have never read any of the pre-nicene fathers."_ It's pretty clear you haven't if you think Calvin or Augustine were gnostics. I'd bet that you just read Ken Wilson's shoddy thesis and didn't second guess it. _"calvin followed augustine,.."_ Calvin heavily quoted many of the church fathers, including Augustine. He wasn't always in lockstep with everything they said, including Augustine, but he quoted to show that his ideas weren't novel, but taught throughout church history. _"...augustine brought gnostic doctrine into the church."_ If that's the case, why didn't the same church fathers who fought so hard against gnostisim reject Augustine's writings? Instead they embraced him. And why did Augustine also write against the gnostics? Why is it the only people at the time who argued that Augustine was a gnostic were themselves declared heretics by the church at large (and not just the Augustine lead gnostic faction)? It seems like this is being used as an excuse to avoid having to deal with the fact that Reformed theology comports with the Bible. _"it is plain as day if you just read and research for yourself. go to the sources, don’t believe what people write about the sources. read the main sources yourself. God bless you."_ Honestly, I don't care. I care about the Bible and whether Reformed Theology comports with the Bible. The gnostics said some things that I agree with, like affirming that God exists. I'm not going to become an atheist just because they were theists. They said a lot of things I disagree with, like saying a demiurge created the world instead of God or that the physical world is bad and the spiritual world good, thus denying the ressurection to physical (glorified) flesh and that God would renew physical Earth and dwell on it with us eternally. Many modern "Christians" have more in common with the gnostics when they claim Satan made all the bad stuff in the world or that salvation is just about "going to heaven when we die". Reformed Christians affirm the historic christian creeds, and so are as far from gnostic as a Christian can get.

I prefer the KJV for many reasons, but I’m not a member of a cult. I do wonder why all the new, newer, newest “versions” of the Bible in English are necessary, if not to cause confusion, and arguments, and endless discussions and divisions among believers; or to line the pockets of prideful academics, greedy publishers, and equally prideful and greedy denominationalists. And why have these many “versions” of the Bible flourished so in recent years? Is the church more vibrant? Are believers better equipped? Is our society more just and humane? No. Pastors want to be celebrities. Teachers are immature and self absorbed. Parents are absent, “fulfilling” their own desires and ambitions. Children are left to grow up as best they can being indoctrinated in government schools and manipulated by a corrupt and depraved “entertainment industry”. I’m no historian, academician or statistician, but could there be some relationship between the church abandoning (in the name of scholarship of course) speaking with one voice and the legalized murder of 50-60 MILLION innocent human beings in the United States of America?

Roman Catholicism has limited the very work of God in history to a hierarchical human institution headed by fallible men who endlessly contradict one another, yet the KJV only crowd, like most with a merely biblicist epistemology, arrest God’s work in history in its earliest development, and see even this earliest era of the church askew, through the lens of modernist/fundamentalist (and fundamentalism, as the theologian David Bentley Hart points out, IS a form of modernism; scientistic and “literalist” as opposed to meanings-full as the Church Fathers saw the revelation of Christ within a scriptural but not merely scriptural tradition) lens. This is the kind of anti-intellectual silliness that comes of a merely biblicist epistemology, as George Fox, for instance, rightly recognized.

It is about final authority, the bible says God's word is pure. If that is true then show me where his words are pure in any language. If you can't show any book in any language then God's words have been lost and are not pure. According to White and his gay apologist army there is no pure book of God's word except his book the KJV only Controversy.

@@ahammer7000 ‘Gay apologist army’ 😂 oh boy. The Lord has preserved His word. Nobody is saying don’t read the KJV; however, let’s not pretend that language doesn’t change with time. It does, everywhere you go. Some of the words in the KJV don’t mean what they used to, so, understandably, in order to retain the original meaning in a way that is comprehensible and accessible for a modern audience you translate using the current vernacular so that the message and meaning of scripture can be understood clearly! We have thousands of manuscripts of the scriptures IN THE LANGUAGES THEY WERE WRITTEN IN. The inspired, holy word of God is not going anywhere, as the Lord Himself had promised.

@NicoCoco God has given us the word and has preserved it (Psalm 68:11, Psalm 119:89, 1 Peter 1:25); he has also warned against perverting the word (Deuteronomy 4:2, Proverbs 30:6, Revelation 22:18-19). To pervert is to add to/take away from (according to God’s definition as found in Jeremiah 23:30, 31, 36b). The scriptures demonstrate that there are those who pervert the scriptures. Examples include: When Satan tempted Eve, he perverted the word of God (Genesis 3:1-6); Jeremiah 23 warns of false prophets who had perverted the word of God; Paul warned of those many who ‘corrupt the word of God’ (2 Corinthians 2:17). God is God and this is the reality of which his word plainly speaks. God has given his word and preserved it, but not everything with the word ‘Bible’ stamped on the cover contains the whole counsel of God. This can be observed by verse-by-verse comparisons among the versions. One chapter in Dr. Moorman’s book is titled ‘Key Epochs in the Preservation History of the NT Text;’ this chapter is very informative. There are those, too, who have collated verses that were included in the correspondence of early church fathers (pre 350 AD) that correspond to the scriptures as reflected in the KJV (and other reformation-era Bibles in English that preceded it). Other of Dr. Moorman’s works list such verses. (These include verses that CT proponents claim were ‘added.’) These verses are also found in the earliest Bibles. We are wise to research these things for ourselves in these and other quality resources. The fact that people have perverted the word does not shake my faith in God; rather, it shows the scriptures and God to be faithful and true--and that the battle rages (as we can plainly observe) and as we have also been forewarned.

James White will never talk about the council of Trent banning any translations of the TR and their later ban on the KJV under penalty of death. White is so insecure, his shame and guilt but instead of repenting he doubles down with his assault on any perfect bible in any language just like the popes. He knows that he is the head cult leader of the anti KJV movement that began in Rome, so he needs to make himself look Orthodox by "preaching the gospel", that the popes also claim to preach. That is why so many Roman Catholics and Muslims listen and applaud him, like Norman Geissler, Shabir Alli and Muslim by Choice, all who use White's work to defame every bible as any kind of final authority. Because in the end it is about final authority, James White has no final authority except the Lockeman Foundation from where he draws his pay. White has no perfect bible in any language that is why he focuses so much on the newest Greek apparatus and so his followers will just be kept wondering if we will ever really know what God said.
