Gulliman is not a perpetual. Despite his "resurrection", he was not actually entirely dead. Primarchs are stupidly close to immortal as it, without having the ability to actually come back from the dead. What Guilliman received was a very belated, insanely extensive, medical treatment including soul reconstruction. His armor allowed his body to finish its repairs. Guilliman is not a perpetual. Vulkan is a Perpetual. Vulkan lives or will live again.
Theoretically he died the moment the stasis field fell, then the biological repair of the flesh began. The Inari couldn't effect his soul unless he died most likely.

‘Oh, for the love of…’ he grumbled as he bent awkwardly to pick them up. The Armour of Fate was bulky. As its waist joint prevented him from flexing his spine and reaching the floor, he had to kneel. He reached for the scattered flimsies. Fingertips failed to grasp the sheets, sending them fleeing in small armadas over the polished floor. He growled in frustration, abandoned his task and stood, drawing a curious look from Sicarius. ‘I have the manual dexterity of a Legio Cybernetica battle automaton!’ Guilliman said. ‘Created by the Lord of All Mankind, master of the greatest armies in the Imperium, and I cannot pick up a plastek flimsy.’ He glared at the offending articles. ‘My greatest enemy.’ There was a thoughtful quiet. ‘You are joking, my lord?’ said Sicarius. Guilliman looked at Sicarius. He had to turn all the way around to do so. The pauldrons, ornamental wings and large halo mounted on his back made it impossible for him to see over his shoulder. At least he had stopped knocking into things. There was that. ‘By the Throne, why am I expected to be serious at all times? Yes, Captain Sicarius, I am making light of my predicament. During the worst of the Great Crusade, I was known to make the occasional jest. Even after Terra fell. I did not spend my entire previous life writing deep thoughts into little notebooks, but sometimes dared to enjoy myself. I suppose that was not recorded in the hagiographies.’ ‘Humour is not something you are renowned for, my lord.’

To claim that Guilliman believed the rest of the Imperium lost would be to greatly underestimate him. Guilliman did not know what was happening behind the warpstorm, so he did not know if the rest of the Imperium was lost or not, and he certainly did not BELIEVE anything. Guilliman works with facts, not by wishes and beliefs. He did not KNOW if the Imperium was lost, but based on what he DID know, it was possible or even likely that it might happen. However, he did not simply CHOOSE to believe one way or another, he prepared for BOTH of those possibilities as well as he could.
@laurenbastin88494 жыл бұрын
that’s the thing, Guilliman is a pragmatist above all else. I like to see every primarch as an inheritor of one of the Emperors traits. Magnus inherited his psychic prowess, Vulkan his compassion (or what compassion he had before he expelled the star-child), Angron his unfiltered wrath, Russ his brutal justice, etc. To me Guilliman is the inheritor of the Emperors charisma and political acumen (where Horus would’ve inherited his more combat-oriented leadership abilities). Kinda feels like Guilliman is too good a character for the Ultramarines sometimes, he’s much more complex than the legion as a whole (not saying there can’t be good ultramarine characters or that the legion is wholly bad just that they’re often deprived of any actual flaws or challenges)

No he has not, Guilliman has shown to have aged since the start of the Indomitus Crusade, mildly thinning hairline and strands of grey hair, perpetuals do not exactly change (I suspect the first death triggers it, the Highlander parallels are obvious). Furthermore, and this is pure speculation on my part I believe that by having his soul saved by the Ynnari, Guilliman has been connected to Ynnead
@AuramiteEX6 жыл бұрын
It's because of the stresses of his position. A Primarch is mighty but he is not the Emperor. Also, he no longer sleeps and hasn't fully recovered from his meeting with the Emperor.
@Dima0721816 жыл бұрын
There is also another matter to consider, Ynnead is still not fully awakened, when Yvraine cut the life-support stasis she had the Whispering God restore Guillimans soul. This is effect strengthens the link which would potentially allow the God of the Dead. People often forget that the Ynnari are still essentially a growing subsect, they need allies and what better way to ensure their survival than to provide a new King for humanity. Making Guilliman a perpetual would be simply repeating the mistakes of the past You have to understand the basics, the Emperor is powerful beyond measure, but he is not infallible. Being a perpetual, perhaps the first true perpetual, had given him a desire to save humanity. Unfortunately being eternal separated him from the species, in effect having him constantly say "I know better". Humanity does not need an immortal ruler, the Ynnari (particularly Eldrad ) would prefer a weapon/ally against the ruinous powers, not another overlord.
@tyler1tanner6 жыл бұрын
Primarchs don't grow old, they are functionally immortal, they can never and will never degenerate, slow down, or become weak with age. They will live in their peak for all eternity. His "aging" comes from the unimaginable stress and mental strife from waking up in an actual living nightmare, where the imperium worships the emperor as God and worships death. Guilliman says several times even a century into the indomitus crusade that he feels like he's living in a nightmare. I don't think anyone but a Primarch or the emperor could handle that as well and roboutte has

One has to consider that if Eldar souls are strong enough to stay intact after going into the warp, then a Primarch's soul could easily survive in the warp. Ferrus Manus' ghost was rumored to be with the Emperor, and there's also the Sanguinor too. They technically won't ever die unless their souls are destroyed like Horus' was.

Guys, I really need your help. I have completely lost the plot by now. I've had a rough time since it was even hinted at Roboute *possible* resurrection (the White Dwarf cover). The last actual fluff I remember was that the Demon Primarchs were sighted on Cadia heralding the End Times. That's it. Now, I have been somewhat aware of what has been going on, but I completely know nothing of the Custodian's and Sisters of Silence' return. Where on Earth could I possibly catch up on all that has happened? I know Cadia fell, there was a great rift, those abominations called Primaris Marines were created, but could anyone tell me were all this information is in? I think there are three new books; are there any more containing new fluff? Thanks a lot guys for your help.

There's more than one perpetual, that Eldar thing can be considered outdated.
@FrosenHell6 жыл бұрын
The primarch did not need to sleep. That was fortunate, because he thought it likely he would not manage with the sound of the armour’s workings buzzing through his skull. If he could lie down in it in the first place. It was bonded to him, impossible to remove, a situation he worked to remedy. ‘This armour is the work of genius, but it is damnably noisy,’ said Roboute Guilliman testily.
@40KTheories6 жыл бұрын
Ah this is from the Armour of Fate story, isn't it? Which takes place *before* Dark Imperium where he's shown to be walking around in just a toga

It is quite possible considering he was stabbed with a chaos bladeand was in stasis for over 10,000 years and awake during through it all more then likely he may be a perpetual and even novels have dove into the fact he may be an extremely powerful psyker.
@GreatChickenGod6 жыл бұрын
it's the armor itself that keeps him alive. although he could take off the armor, i'm going to guess he cant stay out for too long, or else his body will start to decay and die

In the Horus Heresy novel "Legion", we are introduced to a new character, "John Grammaticus", who seems to fit in the kind of human you describe. Is he a Perpetual too ? If yes, I remember that the eldar "Kabbale" gave him these abilities, so Eldars too might be able to create Perpetuals.
@40KTheories6 жыл бұрын
Yes John Grammaticus is a perpetual, who eventually loses his perpetuality in Unremembered Empire

I have a question regarding the galaxy of the 40k, "god" what is definable as a god as there have been several and if we were to call only the 4 chaos beings as gods what where the beings of the other races religions, Eldar gods such as Khaine, the C'tan, The Emperor, etc. Alternately could the Emperor or the Anathema, in his current state, be considered a material parasite? That upsets the realm of souls due to consuming souls himself.

But Guilliman cannot remove the armour - or so he was told. Now, after years spent trapped within the Armour of Fate, he wishes to test the truth of this statement, and seeks out old allies who he hopes can give him aid.

Again, Dark Imperium already shows him walking around out of his armour. The new Armour of Fate story takes place *before* Dark Imperium.

Many a times people say such things are impossible, or unlikely. They said it was unlikely for the rebels to find a weakness and exploit it against the death star. So in the words of Master Oogway ... " Nothing is impossible."

3 questions. 1. Does that mean Corax is a perpetual? 2. The Audio book for Robutte Guilliman came out, that should give us a clew. 3. She said last doesn't mean Guilliman wasn't in that category, since it could mean before or afterwards.
@40KTheories6 жыл бұрын
1) No because Corax wasn't mortally wounded 2) This video was recorded and uploaded before the 'Armour of Fate' story was released 3) Anval Thawn being the last was uttered before Guilliman was brought back, so at the time Thawn would have indeed been the last (or at least the last naturally born one)
@GrimAndDarkness6 жыл бұрын
@@40KTheories 1. You said magically made like Erebus, wouldn't that count with the Emperor? 2. Wouldn't you have listen to tge audio before the post? Cuz now you would have to make another or is that for future videos? 3. Oh ok so Guilliman isnt a born perpetual then.
@40KTheories6 жыл бұрын
1) Cyrene was resurrected by Erebus. Corax was just healed, not resurrected. 2) I had no time to read Armour of Fate prior to this being released so any information in that will be addressed in future videos 3) No, this is asking if him being resurrected made him into one.
