I've been using an X2D since almost one year, and it's by far the best digital camera I've ever used. Image quality, build quality, ergonomics, design, menu system and overall user experience are top notch.

I want to get one but scared of it getting robbed when travelling. Why does it not have a tracking system or pincode built in?

I would like to know what you think - about Fujifilm, which has been strong lately - in fact, I'm about to buy one but I don't know which one - I like Hassel but I've heard that it is falling behind in many aspects and that makes me doubt - greetings

Mitch, in the early 70's when the Supreme Court was hearing a lot of pornography cases, Justice Potter Stewart brilliantly opined that "I can't define pornography but I know it when I see it". Medium Format is the same way; hard to define but you know when you see it. There is something about not only the image but the process of slowing down and composing an image before you press the button. It's magical!

Good review. I was sceptical - why so late when the X2D has been out for such a while. However, it's a good review. You need to look at the menu system, and deeper into such detail as bracketing, crop modes and Live View for the iPad and phone ... but that's the next video ! I look forward to seeing it. And following that, take a look at the 3 new XCD V lenses. WONDERFUL !

The 90mm he is using 2,5 is like gold dust - it took them a year to release it after they annouinced it September 2022 - I'm still waiting for mine and I Pre-ordeed it as soon a s the X2D came out

You can not compare the Sony with the natural colors and sharpness of the Hasselblad. The sensor is much bigger (over 70% bigger than your A7RV camera). I also bought this camera after 12 years of using different Sony cameras. I am still a Sony fan, I also own a 15K costing 4K Sony professional video camera.

@@charliipresley it's cropped medium format look, only true medium format is Hasselblad H and Phase one. There is not much big of a difference between FF and X medium format. I have X1D2 and compared it with FF, in therms of DOF almost the same.

Ah really wish I had the $$ or the opportunity to borrow the 100c and a lens or two. I shoot with the X1Dii and just LOVE this camera the files are just phenomenal and using Phocas Mobile it is just so simple to edit and barely need to do much. I also shoot with a R5C for other projects and just love grabbing the X1D for how small and simple it is.

Great review Mitch, obviously a completely aspirational purchase but very cool nonetheless. I have a question, if the shutter is in the lens does that present a problem for adapting vintage glass or does the camera also have an electronic shutter.

Lots of space above your subjects head's. Just an observation from someone who started with film and wanted to maximize the use of the frame. IBIS has made this iPhone style camera usage prevalent.

It's amazing but I still think most people couldn't tell the difference online if you said some of these images came from an apsc sensor with a 1.2 or 1.4 aperture.

Sometimes it’s about the camera scene guys like car guys that notice the nuances especially the pros. There is an aesthetic just like the Leica 🔴 look. Most people it’s true which is really sad since phones are killing photography. It will be in the character that will make a camera like this standout and separated from non MF if shot right and with the right pilot

I just don't see a difference between MF and FF. Maybe if it's printed really big or viewed at 100%. The cost, size, speed trade off isn't worth it.
@DonaldHawk
@DonaldHawk 10 ай бұрын
I like the aspect ratio and compression you get with MF vs FF
@Aci-de8zm
@Aci-de8zm 10 ай бұрын
MF is not all about the resolution and print size. I think this review makes some good points also about the 16-bit colour depth, that when combined with the 15 stop dynamic range allows lots of post-processing flexibility in the RAW files, which is a benefit for image quality at any print size, and the larger sensor also gives the exaggerated depth of field look and feel. The review also considers who the camera is suitable for... if you consider the cost, size and speed to be issues, then the camera isn't for you, but there are other photographers out there for whom it is a great and more viable option.
@MitchLally
@MitchLally 10 ай бұрын
@@Aci-de8zm well said. I chose to focus on other things about the camera that justify the price like the leaf shutter, internal memory, build and design and UX. I do somewhat agree that at a certain point image quality has diminishing returns so for those who know they need it they know why - it’s not a camera for everyone.
@williamsolis1
@williamsolis1 10 ай бұрын
@@Aci-de8zm I understand that. For me those benefits don't outweigh the other aspects. FF is the best balance of colour depth, dynamic range etc AND being affordable with a great eco system.

Another paid "advertorial" for Hasselblad dressed up as a "review." At least Mitch Lally doesn't bury the lead twelve minutes into the video like Chris Hau did.
@MitchLally
@MitchLally 10 ай бұрын
Sorry if the video’s premise seemed misleading. Hasselblad actually expected me to share my honest thoughts which I think I tried to do in the video. I shared my frustration with the screen not tilting and it not being my style as the experience is a little slower than what I’m accustomed to. Overall I did really like the camera and there are some features like the menu layout, internal memory and ergonomics that are honestly miles ahead of what other camera brands are doing right now.
@kylewist7745
@kylewist7745 10 ай бұрын
@MitchLally That may be true, but no other camera brand has been releasing as many paid advertorials as Hasselblad has in the past 6 months. Again, I appreciate that you were upfront about the sponsorship rather trying to bury it in the last 20% of the video or not mention it at all, as other KZbinrs have done. I respect you as a photographer, and frankly, you deserve better.
@lizlana4200

I have this this camera it is a dog ,.. I have a 45P lens and the 55 V lens,. and a 65 mm, the slightest cropping, and the images turn to mush,.. this company is surviving on hype and past performance,.. not only that, but they are dishonest in their dealing,.. I bought all my equipment from the Hasselblad store,.. and I have a 65 mm lens that was sent to me in a pre opened box. I returned it, explicitly for a new lens in a factory sealed box ,..and the Hasselblad Store sent me another lens in a pre-opened box ,..and they are not willing to replace this lens ,.it's a used lens ?,..I have 15k $ invested in this system,. Biggest mistake of my life ,..
