Good to hear from you Gary Pratt. My advice on shooting intruders with any weapon is to prove to the police and the prosecuting attorney in your area ..... that you had called the police and that you used some restraint in the use of your weapon. For example, you don't want to take someone's life with a 45 caliber ... when they were just a young kid wanting to steel a $250 TV.

@@drsrussandpaula Dr Russ, I like your reply. I always count to ten and allow the intruder to leave, however, in Indiana, it is a felony to break into someone's home. There does not have to be any conversation with an intruder in our state. Armed intruders are shot on sight. Here😀 in the big city, it is kill or be killed in most situations.

Good info Doc. I am a fan just because you are so straight up and honest about whatever it is you are shooting. I have owned a lot of airguns in a few short years and you hit on a characteristic that seems to haunt me in my purchases......heftiness. Funny thing is I sold my brother my Prod (marauder pistol) in .22 over a year ago as I could not generate enough power with it. Recently, while visiting him we shot that carbine and had an absolute ball, light, easy to hold up and accurate as all get out. Almost sorry I sold it to him....LOL. Current rifle is the new Gauntlet G2 in .22 cal. Very impressed with accuracy and shot count but she is more of a bench or rested gun than a hunting set up so next stop will be the FX Wildcat MKIII and probably in .25 or .30. I do have an AEA .30 challenger standard rifle with 32inch barrel but same thing......too heavy to pack around but boy does she stack pellets and slugs alike. Anyways, appreciate you and please be blessed with all that you need.

Thank you for the compliment Bret Lawson.... it's good to hear from you... overall weight is important ... especially when you have to travel over hill and Dale with that weight. However know that you can overcome a rifles weight... join boot camp for 8 weeks and you will agree... but in the end accuracy will be your priority. FX air rifles will likely deliver both for a price.... longer rifled barrels provides me with a clue to accuracy ... lubed, quality pellets is another ... a good scope... and holding the rifle level all help. Please keep us in your air gun loop... helping up help everyone stay Air Gun sharp. Dr Russ

I caught a wild turkey in a raccoon trap in 1980. We cooked it on a grill for Thanksgiving. It was delicious. I made money selling raccoon and mink pelts to buy my own Atari game console and all the good games at age 13...then an embargo reduced prices to nothing and I stopped. It always seems to be rural folks who depend on jobs like that who lose out. So my first business was destroyed by the federal government and that`s not the only time similar things have happened to me. I live in a very rural area now and grow as much of my own food as possible, have emergency solar power, all sorts of prepping supplies, including air rifles. I strive for self sufficiency so nobody can take my food, water, shelter, or electricity away from me.

@@rickrazz7136 The FX and Daystate rifles are extremely refined. I recently purchased a Impact M3 and it is a incredible piece of machinery. It’s my second rifle. And they are cheap compared to a match grade powder burner. My uncle has $7000 into his rifle. If you want something premium, you got to save your pennys. That said I have a Benjamin Bulldog and it’s a great rifle. But having no regulator, no return spring adjustment, and a primitive hammer adjustment, your hands are tide behind your back. You have to find the round it shoots good rather than tuning the gun to shoot the round that you want to shoot. None of that matters if you just want to plink. But if you want to dial something in to be the best it can be, you need something designed to put you in control.

@drsrussandpaula
@drsrussandpaula 2 жыл бұрын
Fred ... I have every caliber except 30 caliber ... so I cant share any personal experience about it ..... The reason I don't have a 30 caliber is that if you check mail order businesses like Pyramid Air, etc... they have the smallest selection of 30 caliber compared to the other calibers... that doesn't mean you have a bad gun ... to the contrary, the Bully is an excellent gun ...I have 3 in a variety of calibers. I can share this .... a Wild Boar is very difficult to kill when shooting in the front chest due to the 2 inch thick "sheath" or hard suet that shields its organs...I would aim for the head in every instance ... specifically ... the eyes in the front and the ear if a side shot. A butt would probably be in the butt hole ... and enter the organs in the chest from that position. Please share your experience when you complete your hunt... Dr Russ

@@fredcox9703 I cant say much more than I did in my first answer ... I have leapfrogged over the 30 caliber in my expansion to large bore air guns due to limited pellet choices ... I have the Bully in .45. It's a great gun (when it works): compact, powerful, well-balanced. It looks pretty good too. Unfortunately, mine seems to be a dud. When I try to cock it, at least 50% of the time the lever gets stuck in the 'open' position (moved all the way back and sticking out). It refuses to go forward. The magazine also becomes stuck and can't be turned or removed. If you wiggle the mag and lever long enough, it will eventually move forward, but something obviously ain't right. Any thoughts on what might be causing this problem?
