At around 09:55 of your video, I'm pretty sure you're misinterpreting the rules. You're allowed to place a balloon next to a balloon in your line of sight, even though it doesn't "form or extend a group". From the rulebook: "Choose a launch site within the 2 lines of sight of the airship that already contains one of your balloons (...) Starting from this balloon, you may place your balloon on an adjacent launch site within the same region".

@@JohnPeterBrekke I pulled out the rulebook and I see what you’re saying but the next two sentences after that cast some doubt. Thoughts? “This launch site does not need to be in the line of sight.” I took that to modify the rule before that you cite. 🤔

@fenirob I think everyone who's read the rulebook would agree it's badly written! I think what they're trying to say is simply that you either place a balloon in line of sight (wherever you want) or not in line of sight, but if you're not placing it in line of sight it has to be connected to one of your balloons in line of sight within the same region/terrain. Either directly next to the balloon in line of sight (not yet a group of three), or as part of a group (of three or more) that includes a balloon in line of sight. What might overcomplicate the language here is the possibility of tracing an unbroken line of balloons back to a balloon in line of sight, without this line of balloons being a valid group ... if it happens to cross over different terrain.

I need to see who the rule helps/hurts the most before I decide which interpretation is best.

@@JohnPeterBrekke I've thought about what you're saying and now I understand (and agree). The rule is that REGARDLESS if it forms a group or not, as long as it is next to the line of sight balloon or an extension of that in the same region, you can place it. I was being too harsh with my interpretation.
