I teach at film school. She writes exactly like 1st year students. She tried to yoink from many popular movies but without any coherent idea and relation. Btw those sets looks so...cheap and small. I can't believe this cost 180 mil.

As a film school teacher, I would assume the new film Godzilla minus one has been brought up at least once for the sheer fact it cost less than 15 million and it puts this entire series to absolute shame. You don’t need massive budgets to make something people will enjoy….

I didn't take any film courses in college, but even I know that's NOT how you tell a cinematic story. A few contexts would have made the show 1000% better. I would have thrown in a subplot where Sol and the young Jedi were being mentally manipulated to act irrationally, which explain their erratic behaviors. I can go on and on... There were just too many f**king plot-holes. The writing disregarded the familiar understanding of human behavior to the point the show plot didn't make any sense.

Sidenote: Has anyone realized this Star wars project has the Least amount of Alien species? It's the least diverse Star Wars. It's mostly Humans. Also the locations are so bland & small. There are No impressive locations. There are no wide pan shots in this show. There are no interesting or complex environments. This world is so claustrophobic. The characters are so shallow. We've been seeing such expensive projects, yet they are so terribly designed, terribly managed, Awful writing, awful world design, awful character development, poor aesthetics. So much now feels creatively bankrupt and I really hope we snap out of it and get back to making better things. Better games, better shows, better movies The Acolyte comes off so cheap & tacky.. It's not just the terrible writing & terrible acting. The whole thing is a complete self centered power trip.. It's horrible set design, horrible world building, horrible camera work. It all makes this show feel so small. Like it's filmed in a single green screen room.. Grasping at awful CGI techniques to try and force any bit of a false reality into this mess of a show. It's so far from Legitimate Star wars movies that it feels as if this whole thing is a big parody.. A very expensive parody.. These people have proven they are only capable of writing narcissistic stories that self insert themselves and their own beliefs into anything they do. Even if they get the opportunity to make something from a pre-existing beloved story, they cannot help themselves. They seem to be incapable of creating artistic creations that stray away from their own personal perspective. Instead of showing they are capable of leaning heavily into escapism and creative storytelling.. They have proven time and time again that they are not capable of doing anything even remotely close to that.. (which is weird because that should be one of the most important set of attributes that a movie director, or a actor has so they can be successful at their job....?) How is there no one that will fire these people who openly hate the fans, hate the consumers who made their success in the first place.. Compared to "The Acolyte" If you go back & watch "X-Men the Animated series" It was so well crafted. The story of the struggles of mutants having to deal with humanity was such a universally relatable storyline. Media back then was not afraid to face difficult topics head on. They found really unique ways to abstractly teach people life lessons. They touched on difficult situations & found intelligent ways to convey certain stories. Even when I was all grown up & rewatched it, it really felt like the story is crafted so well & executed at such a high level that anyone is capable of relating to it in someway or another. It's stuff like that, that we are deeply lacking nowadays. So much so that literal kid's cartoons from the 90's told deeper and more mature stories than most media nowadays. Stuff used to take pride in who can find the most creative ways to convey certain things. Who can give the audience certain feelings without overly explaining it. It used to not matter what kind of character, creature, species they were. What matters is that they found ways to convey artistic depictions of the Human condition. Creative ways that can connect us on a deeper level

For all the talk about diversity it always narrows down to membership in two classes, 'oppressor' and 'oppressed', and while both groups can do bad things, the oppressed shouldn't experience guilt nor be held responsible for their actions while the oppresssor group should suffer guilt even to the point to self-deletion and any actions taken against them are justified. The Jedi of course are the 'oppressors' in this case, and Darth Skinny Dipper is in the 'oppressed' class where he can do anything he wants.

Well said, I will add that you could also interchange “victim” and “hero” as well, those who are oppressed liked to claim victimhood and heroism simultaneously in whichever situation validates their viewpoints the most. Mae and Osha were always displayed as either a victim/hero episode to episode to validate the “crimes” of the jedi…..

I have a low bar when it comes to movies and TV shows, which was why Disney Star Wars didn't triggered me, until NOW. I found myself thinking there's going to be a payoff on the next episode and never got it. The characters' motivations and actions didn't make any f**king sense. The Battle Beyond The Stars movie made more sense that The Acolyte. The writing for The Acolyte came right out of J.J. Abram's **_*'Mystery Box without the payoff'_* bullsh*t handbook. Poring more salt on the wound, they manage to give us the heartbreaking repeat of The Walking Dead Glenn's death moment by killing the only character in the show we could relate to.

Glenn’s death….thought i purged that from my memory😂😂 I agree, a good story has a payoff, and it doesn’t have to be the good guys winning…. Revenge of the Sith was a TRAGEDY. There had to be something though, cliff hangers without a completed story arc shows how inept the writers were.

I saw someone try to break it down. 50 mil for pre-production and 130 mil for reshoots and post production. It took 4 years to make and they had to keep trying to “fix it” with reshoots. CGI was left last minute and they didn’t spend a lot of time on it. Basically the money went to mismanagement and poor planning.
