My hats off to this jock! No kidding! Took himself out of a sticky situation but looked incredibly graceful doing it. Coming off of a horse at 40+ miles per hour takes skill and finesse. It's an art this rider does masterfully. Well done, jock!

I did it once at a full gallop going through the woods on an old race horse with a bad leg. He wasn't supposed to gallop or jump but he had bolted and I wasn't seated properly, and we were headed for jumps. I could not pull him up or stop him. I bailed out, went end over end, slight concussion but otherwise okay. Horse came back and walked me to the stables. You do what you have to do, especially if you know the horse.

My daughter was on a XC course and her horse spooked, the mare took off galloping and bucking across the field. Somehow my daughter sat the bucking gallop and stopped the horse. Right then and there I knew she was a true equestrian. She got back on the horse and finished the competition. I would have never gotten back on that horse!

Many years ago I was an apprentice Farrier, I was loaned a retired race horse. First ride out she went into full flight... oh my god I jumped off and got the biggest bollocking ever. Yeah I know, I was a dip stick. I had to walk a long way down the gallops to get her. I got back on and never looked back. Wouldn't recommend doing this but I was a novice. But said I could ride.

I haven't seen it yet but I have done it myself lol. A horse full in gallop couldn't stop him anymore and had to decide fall hopefully softly now in the tall grass or risk it and lose my balance and fall later on the stone ground. So grass it was but I did broke my right collarbone and bruised my left side badly 😅

Compete novice question but would the horse be completely uncontrollable, only stopping once fear worn off? Is it more sensible to let go and come off or to still stay with the horse and try to regain control?
@mysterykit6893
@mysterykit6893 Жыл бұрын
@@madihaq2252 Very good riders can regain control of the horse again and calm them down by various technics. I've seen them doing but it is harder to regain control when the horse sprints in full speed and in a wide open area. Because normally if its panicking stressed out youd rive it in a corner so it won't just bash off. Or if it alreayd bashes off block it in the hope it stops i suppose. But for me i still had classes on riding and am not a pro it was pretty bad how they teached us tho not gonna lie..

He couldn’t the horse bolted and he lost control, he lost a stirrup and who can stay on at 40 mph on a galloping horse trying to stay up and steer at the same time, and he can’t just sit down because it hurts the backs of young horses with a sudden change of balance so he really did what was best

The horse spooked and took off running in fear - a runaway. Horses like that don't stop for anything. She could have lost her footing running in the turf and slammed down at 40+mph, slammed into the railings, any number of scenarios, all of them bad. The jockey didn't want to get killed, so he slid off the horse. He was safe and the horse slowed down on her own and was caught by outriders. So it ended well. It could have ended in disaster.

The only time I rode a horse, the pack was galloping together and i thought i was going to die... ffs I'm 6.2. My long asf 🦵 and these mfs make the stirrups like the jockeys have them. My damn legs were killing from squatting for ages and almost jumped off cause I was bouncing on it like a trampoline 💀 I'm screaming STOPPPP FUCK YA 😂😂 lucky the guide at the back seen and came over and slow the horse down or i was going to Christopher Reeve 2.o

Making a decision that you disagree with isn’t a indicator of bad horsemanship, it’s just a different way of handling a situation. Plus - You don’t know the whole story, bailing could have saved this man’s life and the horse. 🤷‍♀️
@Retired20244
@Retired20244 Жыл бұрын
Dude if you've ridden racehorses long enough you know there's sometimes one or two that are so off the rails strong and will run until they can't anymore that sometimes bailing and getting off their backs causes them to come back sooner and be less dangerous. If you ride too you also know the absolute terror that is having a horse that is a nasty hanger and even refuses basic steering commands. One lad I know did this with a horse that has zero self preservation, he refused to bail when he got run off with and the horse literally ran himself and the rider through a wooden picket fence, knocking out all his front teeth. Yes the majority of the time it's safer and more ideal to hang on and steer until they tired out, especially when working on public racetracks with multiple horses out, but if there's minimal danger of collision sometimes it's better to bail for your own safety. This is clearly a talented Jockey and was able to assess the situation and make what he thought was the best decision, I think it's time we all stop being so arrogant online and nitpick things that are incredibly hard to make split second decisions on in extreme physically dangerous situations. It either shows a complete lack of empathy, or somebody who has no clue what they're talking about and has never been in an identical situation to nearly as much degree or experience. It's either incompetence or assholery, neither is a good look. Both horse and rider were fine, there was no purpose to this comment because there was nothing to fix.
