Nice one - brings back memories and got my memory synapses a-firing. Loved the Rap flashback. 🤣Back in Aiea Elementary School days, there was a food truck that parked nearby where us kids would save lunch money to buy hamburgers after school. My mother put a stop to my shenanigans. 😉I remember the food truck along Nanakuli Avenue that served the mayo-mustard sauce with fries. And speaking of the sauce. Back when Megs, Byrons, Jets and Scotty's were in business, hamburgers came with a layer of ketchup-diced onions-relish on top and mayo-mustard-diced onion on the bottom. I wonder if Leeward Drive-In serves burgers the old school way?

The manapua man on Nanakuli Ave is still there. Jets is still there but I'm not sure if the burgers are the same. I never tried the burgers at Leeward and wonder if it's like that too. I've been to all those places except Scottys and never tried the burgers. Only plate lunch and breakfast 😋

LOL you got one hamburgah deluxe with cheese on da top....plus one side odah cheese👌🤣!! Somehow local burgers do have a uniquely characteristic taste and it's so good. I think the patty being processed is kinda what makes it along with the terri sauce and mayo. Cannot get that flavor and texture if wagyu or sirloin is used. Everything looked bomb and satisfying for the taste buds, great summer time food!

WOW... Haven't been to Tastee's in Ages! For awhile 1998-2002, lived out Makaha Surfaide. And used to stop at either, Tastee Freeze, BBQ Kai or Tamura's, mainly after Pokai Beach sesh!-lol... MEMORIES

I thought the burgers were good and cookie butter shake was awesome! I really enjoyed there sauce but thought it was a little pricey for a CheeseBurger for 9.65 (just looked at my receipt). What did you think about the price? But overall. I would tell people they should try it if there on the Westside. And def gonna try the hot dog stand since I'm heading to North Shore this week. Aloha Sean! I thought it was pricey but still ok in price range. I wish the patty was bigger. For the hotdogs follow them on IG and message them before you go to make sure they're there. Today they are trying out being in Mai'ili. Sometimes they do the Haliewa farmers market. I think you'd like the Mad Dog because of the Coke onions for your sweet tooth! Have a great weekend!

Hi Misty! I don't know how burger joints make such a tasty flavor cause I no can replicate it either. Their buns look real soft, too and helps to make the burger mo bettah. The thick slice of tomatoe and the crunch of the lettuce with onions is unusual at most burger places. Way back in the days of my youth, we used to take Lualualei Road from Nanakuli area and it led up through the mountains and ended somewhere near Schofield Barracks area. Did you use this access to get to Haleiwa for the Hot dog place? The soft hotdog bun is winnahs with a juicy and tasty hot dog and a suppa chili dog. I like your descriptions of the foods you're eating. it's nice they use foil to hold the dog and helps to keep the heat in to stay warm.

Aloha Do! Hope you are doing well. Yes I don't know their secret. I think that bypass by Lualualei Rd is now closed. Military personnel only. I did these on different days so one week I went to Waianae and another week I went to Helemano. The hot dogs were my favorite! A pleasant surprise! 😊

They vary. Used to be 11am to 3pm or until sold out but his sister who actually runs it is in the hospital. Today they are in Mai'ili. Best to add them on Instagram to see where they're at or message them. They respond quickly if they're going to be there that day! 🤙

I have my secrets lol. I spend a lot on cigars but not here. Im a big time cigar snob. Tamura's and R Fields has a decent selection. But you cant find certain things there. Too much taxes. I've been to HNL burger when I was pregnant but it was junk. Maybe it was my hormones and I need to try again. My favorite is Shay's in the food truck across from Boston's pizza in Aiea.

If they were to go into the main road they'd be super busy. The pupusa truck is always crowded on Kamehameha Highway. They do sell out though. Someone tried to go at 1pm and they packed up and left. So they're doing good. Especially with a military gate next to it, the soldiers will buy the hot dogs.

Sorry gotta find another channel for that. I eat out once a week to show these businesses for them to get exposure. If you want to eat healthy you're better off eating at home so you know what you put in it for the macros, fat, etc. I cook everyday of the week and eat home lunch. Moderation is key...

Well everything is expensive nowdays and to make a living with supplies and food to buy it's expensive. I do this to support local businesses and their families. If it's too expensive for certain people then don't buy it and make it at home. But tourists can buy them too.
