Y'all listen to Mrs. Pam when she says to use bread flour. I made these yesterday and realized I was out of bread flour so tried AP flour... They came out okay, but more like the yeast rolls and not fluffy. Made them today with the bread flour and they are much more fluffy and the desired texture; and comparable to the rolls we love from certain restaurants. Loved these and enjoyed the video!

Thanks, Christian, for sharing how the rolls turned out, and also for sharing the difference in turnout with AP and Bread flours.

If there is one thing I am good at in the kitchen it is bread and roll baking. You can use all purpose flour in this recipe. The gluten content will be lower but as long as you use a good quality yeast, and I personally do feel some yeasts are better than others, and allow your bread to rise in a warm area you can use all purpose flour. I also find the higher your first rise before shaping and rising the second time before baking will give you a tender roll or bread with a good chew. However, because Pam recommends bread flour then I will use it for this recipe because I have never made Hawaiian sweet rolls. But I make a mean Parker House roll using all purpose flour.

My gosh I love your video...thank goodness this came up on my feed. I LOVE how you show to do it by hand but also list how to do it by stand mixer and machine. You told how to knead instead of assuming everybody knows. Love the comment about not needing to pay for machines that we only use once a year...you hear the opposite on other channels! I'm getting ready to make these today and I guess that's why this came up on my feed..I've researched others but had to guess about certain aspects of each because they weren't thorough. New sub! Man I loved watching you try the roll!

Hi, from NE Kansas. I need to get bread flour. This is just what I want to learn, too. One of my retirement goals on my bucket lists ❤ I gave away my gifted stand mixer for the same reason. What type of cooking oil do you use. You are sure right about fresh, homemade bread! Everything looks perfect. I'll bet it smells so good. Can you freeze the dough balls?

Click on "more" it's right above the Bell 🔔 on the right side..scroll down & you'll see it.you have to hit more & then more again to see it. Esp bc it gives the instructions. I've shown you the ingredients below: 1 cup of warm pineapple juice 2 1/4 teaspoon Dry active yeast 2 tablespoons of cooking oil plus more for bowl 3/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon salt 3 cups of Bread Flour plus more for dusting ****Bread Flour is different from Regular ALL Purpose Flour...it specifically is sold as Bread Flour they sell it at Walmart in a purple color bag..in my state it's $3.86 for a 5lb bag. You can use All purpose but you won't get the same texture. You can even use Bread Flour to make a good pizza crust. It's better to get it. Trust me.
