Over the last 4 years my A1C has been 7-7.5 and glucose averaged 160-200 even with 1500mg Metformin daily. Started Keto on January 1 2021 after 3 months A1C is 6 and glucose averages 120, cholesterol is130 from 180, triglycerides are 52 from 89, weight was 186lbs. now 158, down to 500mg Metformin. I try to keep carbs at 30-40 grams a day, no more breads, baked goods, pasta, ice cream, etc.

Can a family have a predisposition to type 2 diabetes? Or is it all diet. I don’t want meds

I’m JoeTandingan, 73 yr old male from the Philippines and have been diabetic for the past 20 yrs. I weigh 70 kgs. Question: Why is my FBS of 100 taken at home at 6am did not match my laboratory glucose of 120 taken on the same day 1 and 1/2 hrs later.
@rons53193 жыл бұрын
Most of those home test glucose meters only have to be plus or minus 20% in accuracy by law. Look that up online for more info. They are not accurate at all. I tried my FBS at 7AM, and again 10 minutes later at 7:10, it was 10 points lower. This happens every time. Try it.

Hi why the different fingers give a different readings
@rockabilly33333 жыл бұрын
I'M TYPE 1,AN I DONT CARE FOR THE LIBRE.. I USED IT FOR AWHILE, I FOUND THAT THE LIBRE WASNT THE SAME READING. AS WHEN I POKED MY FINGER, THE LIBRE READING.. MITE SAY 3.1 A LOW BUT THE FINGER WOULD SAY 6.2..THE LIBRE WAS MORE OFF, MORE OFTEN THAN NOT.. SO I STOPPED USING IT,AN STAYED WITH FINGER TESTING..

Enjoy your information with each video. Would you please make a video addressing neuropathy; best supplements that could help etc. I've had diabetes for more than 25 years. In the early years had good control with just metformin. Then doctor added glimipiride, changed that out for a couple different injections, dropped those eventually and back to glimipiride and Ozempic at this time. I am 67 years young, watch my diet/carbs pretty closely, ride my exercise bike 5 days a week, 30 minutes per day. A1c is around 7 now...but the neuropathy is almost unbearable now so have been trying different supplements to try to find some help. At present, Benfotiamine 150mg morning and evening. Not a lot of help but some. Any suggestions? (Not a fan of Gabapentin or the other seizure drugs)

Hi doc, good day! I wanted to ask something, just a short history, I am 30 years old,I was diagnosed 3 months ago diabetic type 2. My random blood sugar reached 334mg/dl at that time while I’m having dengue fever also. My doctor prescribed diamicron mr 60mg and januvia 100mg. I am currently on a low carb diet and weighing around 118lbs. My recent fbs is 104mg/dl. Is it possible to switch my medicine to metformin? And if there is a chance that I can stop the medication and just be strict with my diet and exercise? Thank you in advance for your answer.

It's always best to check with your doctor for medication advice. I've been working with my doctor to gradually get off the meds, the last 5 months I've been off the meds but I'm closely working with my doctor to monitor my situation.

My hba1c was normal last year. I then had pancreatitis with stones in my common bile duct and my Hba1c rose to 10% but didn’t have any sugar in my urine and my blood sugars are 4.5-7 now dependant on when I do them. Am I diabetic now? I don’t have any thirst nor do I got to the toilet frequently

This discussion is unnecessarily convoluted. It needs to be understood that blood sugar measured directly is different in quantity and units than HbA1c. The former measures the level of glucose in the blood in mmol/l or mg/dl at that instance. HbA1c measures the percentage of glycated haemoglobin over a period of approx. 3 months. There is a relation between the 2 measures as follows: Average blood sugar over 3 months/HbA1c: 10.0/8.0, 9.15/7.5, 8.3/7.0, 7.5/6.5, 6.7/6.0, 5.85/5.5, 5.0/5.0. Therefore it can be seen that if you regularly measure
