Just a fortunate as y'all, having HBO as a kid. So much that was outside of being age appropriate, even the action and comic movies, with everything I "wasn't" supposed to see....plus movies I definitely wasn't supposed to see. Add in the doc's they had (still remember the first "Real Sex" episode coming on when I was 11) helped open a kids eyes, lol! So many memories I want this played at my funeral

I'm in tears, my little girl was 4 years old and she would dance to this HBO intro every single time she would hear it, one day she was very ill with a fever and she tried to get up when she heard the music but she looked at me and her daddy and said "I can't dance" and layed back down then fell asleep, I smiled but it broke my heart that she still tried to dance 💔 Just watching and listening to this video took me back to that beautiful and wonderful moment in time...💜🎶

This opening used to give me chills, as a kid (still does), like the studio logo openings for Tri-Star Pictures and their galloping horse, the drums for the 20th Century Fox logo, the orchestral opening of Universal Studios, or, later, the classical guitar opening of Dreamworks SKG. Watching movies used to be an event! On any given Friday night, in my house, growing up, hearing the start of this HBO opening would be followed by a incessant and excited yell from the living room "IT'S STARTING! IT'S STARTING!" Fight to bring back sanity, tradition, morals and values, people. What we had wasn't perfect, but it was 1,000 fold better than what we have today!

Lols. When I was a kid, our neighbors had cable, we were too poor, but I found out if I connected the cable wire to theirs where the wire was touching their line, I could somehow get what they were watching on my TV. There was some fuzz, but otherwise totally watchable. They NEVER found out, it went on for years until I moved away. I put a little glue on it and it was covered by a bush. Don't ask me how or why, but I watched everything they watched for free even HBO. I just had to have my TV on channel 4. Now I could care less about cable, I'm internet only and can watch anything I want whenever I want.

I actually looked this up just to bring back that feeling I had as a kid when this came on. It meant a good series or movie, and man, the snacks and soda (provided we had behaved ourselves earlier in the day). I know I'm showing my age when I say this was back when nearly every cable channel had something good to watch weekly, especially HBO. Not so much these days but that's what box sets and streaming is good for.

OMG! YES! Tears definitely everytime I see this logo intro. Reminds me of when I was 10 and ONLY allowed to watch HBO because it was the Premier of StarWars on HBO, well that and Fraggle Rock. I lol I record this intro at the beginning of every movie I record just for that heartwarming effect

I knew I'd find this on YT. For some reason I've been thinking back on this intro while out on patrol. I remember grabbing a huge bowl of ice cream with whipped cream piled high prepared for the movie, and then this intro. I can't believe I still know the notes by heart. lol Such a magical time on the cusp of such amazing technology. I miss my Commodore 64. I can do without the annoying cell phone.

Man that takes me back. That is still one of the most iconic intros ever made. I HATE, ABSOLUTELY HATE that they got rid of it.

The drama with this intro, they would only bring this out after a little while for the really big movie premieres at 8 or 9 at night

My mom said when I was a baby this intro was the only thing I would stop doing everything and watch. Eating/crying/laughing whatever I was tuned in when this came on. I just turned 39 on last Monday and it’s still the shit

I always loved this theme of HBO because it reminded me of nights hanging out in the Bronx with my close friends going places to party's visiting people it also inspired me to pursue an acting / screen writing career and it also reminded me of watching HBO with my friends or girl friends in the 80s HBO was a big deal to watch great movies or great shows they're were on top for many years they were no 1 I'm glad I was around to see HBO grow and become one of the earliest cable channels to watch yet there was wht but everybody I knew had HBO

Usually people moan and groan when the logos of TV/movie company’s play before the movie. But I have not met one person that complains about this logo. It speaks for itself and it is AWESOME.

The sheer scale of the model used still impresses me to this day!! I remember watching this for the first time from the huge yard satellite dish, and ours had the electrical motor that would turn it haha, what a time to have lived…..
