Back in the early '90s I visited the Panzer museum in Sinsheim, Germany where I came upon a Panther on display. Ever since I was kid I wanted to climb inside a Panther just to check it off my bucket list. Well, it was a cold Winter afternoon and there was hardly anyone inside the museum and the security guards weren't anywhere in sight, so I got onto the back of the tank and climbed thru the open loader's hatch on the back of turret and sat there in the loader's seat for about half-a-minute. My friend took a picture of me looking out the hatch. It was an awesome feeling just sitting there.

Great video, Sofi! Good to see the beast again since they closed the museum at APG. The Army cut this tank open as a learning aid for trainees. Several other Aberdeen vehicles were also similarly cut open for the same reason (T 34/85, Jpz38(t), for example). They were all left out in the Chesapeake Bay weather for decades. The army didn't much care about old German tanks, and there was never enough money to get them inside. It's nice to see these old friends finally getting some TLC.

No, the world needs as many complete, running Panthers as is possible. Same goes for all the other AFV's we've fielded. They should all be returned to running order and properly cared for. No excuse for anything else.

@@Odessa45 It's funny. If there is a panther with exposed interiorlike this, than it should be preserved in it's current state. The best option for this vechicle is to be placed in a museum next to an uncutted panther, so that everyone can see complete vechicle and an interior of another of the same kind, just like panzer III's in bovington.

"...the Panther is a very attractive looking tank". Said no Allied tank crew, ever. My father commanded Sherman tanks in the New Zealand Division in Italy in 1944/45 and said the Panthers gave them a hard time. On one occasion, they had to clear Rimini airfield and found it defended by a pair of Panther turrets that had been taken off their chassis and mounted at ground level. They took a bit of winkling out and my father's battalion lost a Sherman and its crew doing it.

From the history point of view, this piece is amazing unique because it seems still in it original state. I did see a lot of Panthers in Europe from the inside. This one has still a lot of details. Amazing i did notice the tank Gun Sights, the Turmzielfernrohr TZF 12 its still in this tank. Also the original 75 mm holders for the Ammunition storage. Its cool to put it in a running condition. But this one is pretty unique. Better preserve the state as it is right now. There are a lot of project already . Like some running King tigers and some Panthers. This machine has a unique atmosphere. I would not change that cause it give you a really good impression how those big cats used to be . I see a lot of original details. It would be better to preserve the state as it is right now. I did use to be a owner of a TZF 9d from a Kingtiger II i did keep it to its original state. Now its at a museum in Berlin. If you change the original state, the originality will be gone for ever. That is my point of view. This piece is a one of a kind. A lot of history is inside. It would be a shame to destroy that. Then it will be gone for ever.

@That one historian on internet Yep. Thanks! The second world war has caused so many lives. We should pay respect to all the victims and all soldiers, who paid with their lives, so that we can live in peace and freedom. It has been a high price to pay. Let's learn from wach other in respect and with tolerance. Thanks! Greetings from Germany
@bluntcabbage60424 жыл бұрын
@@alwaysbvb2937 >we would live in a dictatorship today Yeah, no. Tanks like the Tiger only added to Germany's growing list of problems. It was an incredibly heavy tank that guzzled way too much fuel.
