It’s a good system but operator adjustments can make or break a transport. It’s apparent that the lead bogey operator raised/lowered the wrong Grouping coming out of the corner or failed to even make an adjustment . This caused the loads COG to shift to the low side of the corner and past the overturn limits and tipping angle of that suspension configuration. 4-Point suspension is great for fine adjustments for High COG however experienced operators need to know when and where to adjust As a trailer operator myself, it would be interesting to know what was going on. Bar Pressure for each of the 4 Groupings on each bogey when the incident occurred. As much as a fuck up as this was, it’s a good lesson to prevent this from happening in the future

Much too high center of gravity my friend. If they had planned for some type of outriggers dolly wheels, that may have stabilized the load and prevented this from happening.
@johnathonmontie22342 жыл бұрын
Platform was suitable for transport however operator error was the leading to this incident. Front bogey wasn’t properly leveled coming out of the corner or the wrong grouping was adjusted. Pause At 3:01, you can see the front corner of the trailer a lot lower compared to the back of the trailer. This means most of the weight or COG of the load was shifted over to that corner/Zone way past it overturn limits, causing it to tip. The bogey (15-Line or axles) is split into 4-Zones or points which can be adjusted at different rates to keep the COG within its overturn limits and front of the load level. The loads COG is constantly shifting during transport to each of those zones, it’s the job of the operator to raise or lower each of the 4 zones to keep the weight overall equal which levels the load. Operators have tools like spirit levels and Zone pressure gages to know where the weight is between the 4-zones. In this case, the 2 zones on the opposite side of the low spot should’ve been lowered to level the load and shift the COG away from that zone to safely navigate the corner. One past you can re-level and resume transport!

there are some more videos of the tipping and all the repair work , even an interview with the man in charge. The banking of the curve was too much and the operator did not realize in time. Later when the transport moved again you can see the big visual indicators on the car

What a shame that the poor tank got damaged but what a buzz that must give the boys thats delivering these huge loads.
@Thesummerismagic122 жыл бұрын
Looks like the tilt of the road caused the tank to tip over, or the supports on the trailers weren’t able to withstand the bending moment caused by the tilted tank. Guess it’s the latter. Many things to consider during preparations…
@MikeBarbarossa Жыл бұрын
If you look at the initial trailer set up, they were relying on narrow spaced bolt downs to hold the tank. 2:40 The torque of the wide, heavy tank must have snapped the bolt down on a slightly tilted road. It was faulty engineered tie down bolted system

So many twists and turns 😳 So many opportunities for disaster 😳 I’d say the place that is manufacturing massive things like this should consider moving their facility closer to a port 🤓

I'm surprised it wasn't cut up on the spot. There's no way I'd accept it after this even if the manufacturer was willing to fully warranty it after repairs.

@@andrejsgelins9296 Might be that the structure was over stressed by forces it was never designed for. Stress that has caused structural weakness that won't show up under normal examination such as ultra sound or x-ray looking for fractures. You can weaken welds with out causing detectable damage. What was the ultimate cause? Of course, the camber of the road must have tipped the load - but that would have been accounted for in the planning stage. Was there unexpected wind as well?
@simonm14473 жыл бұрын
It was a defect at the trailer, probably some hydraulic failure
@woodennecktie3 жыл бұрын
come on , these carriers are eighter working or not , besides that , if the tilting gets over the safe limit , you can always stop moving and fix the problem
