I think the issues you showed here are because you had your sources plugged into the receiver and not into the TV. I'd love to see another test with all the sources plugged into the TV.

It would work better most likely - especially since the receiver would only have to be on one input. I wouldn't configure it that way however, because I'd lose the ability to play lossless audio formats for movies. Not a bad idea though!

Some TVs will send 5.1 if the TV is the source of the audio (either from a streaming app or the built-in over-the-air tuner), but won't pass 5.1 from other sources, like a Blu-ray player.

I'm wondering if it would have performed better if you started with all components off before trying another remote? Also did you have the TV and Receiver plugged into the HDMI-ARC inputs?

Are there any universal remotes on the market which are as responsive as the native ones? I absolutely hate the logitech harmony's delayed inputs.

Yes, the Logitech DIY lineup does leave people waiting a while for input changes. Part of that has to do with them not being able to track system power status very well. If the remote doesn't know if the TV is on or off then it always assumes that you're starting from an off state, so it always includes the delay between the power on and the input command. Some TVs do take a while after first powering on before they'll accept an input command. I have a Vizio that won't listen to any commands until 15 seconds after it powers on! Once it's on though I can change inputs quickly since the URC brand remote system I'm using can reliably track the power state. Most of URC's remotes have to be programmed by a trained dealer though.
