Topics to check: 1) eARC support and LPCM 7.1 and DTS codecs pass-through over eARC 2) Support for 4K SDR 120 hz 4:2:0 over HDMI 2.0 3) panel improvements if any (DSE, uniformity, peak brightness, color space coverage etc...) 4) BFI different modes at different source frame rates and impacts on motion resolution, brightness and accuracy of modes pre and post calibration 5) Dolby Vision IQ accuracy and efficacy in real world tests (e.g. bright room shadow detail perception) 6) Upscaling and motion improvements if any 7) AV1 decoding for onboard apps and media player along with potential limits (e.g. is also 120hz supported for AV1 encoded media?) 8) WebOS 5.0 improvements / changes 9) tone mapping enhancements if any 10) panel dimming / ABL / ABSL enhancements if any 11) ALM, QMS and QFT support 12) HDMI-VRR and gsync range 13) input lag 14) face enhancing / who where what / auto genre selection / AI features 15) HGIG support and performance 16) AutoCAL performance and improvements (e.g. pattern generator at the front of video pipeline to measures calibration Delta E after autocal) 17) AirPlay 2 / HomeKit integration 18) Noise, heat and energy consumption That should be all :-)

@@princessazula346 I shopped for a deal and got 15% off on my 77 CX, which made it only slightly more expensive than the C9 from a big box store. It is hardly expensive, and certainly not garbage. It has reduced the maximum bitrate of the port to accept any signal beyond the native capability of the panel. The only issue I have is lack of DTS passthrough, but I can find ways around that. The C9 is a great set, but I wanted another year of firmware upgrades, so I chose CX, and It is hardly garbage.

CX has support for FreeSync versus C9 which does not). CX supports 4k120 over HDMI 2.0 (via 4:2:0), while C9 will not be getting this feature. CX has 120Hz BFI versus C9 which does not (this is a major upgrade and will improve near-black uniformity by 50%) CX supports Cinema Motion Pro which is probably double-shutter and/or triple-shutter emulation of 24fps content. CX includes Alpha-9 Gen 3 processor while C9 includes Alpha-9 Gen 2 (~half as fast/powerful) CX has Ambient AI (or whatever ir’s called which will modify gamma/EOTF based on ambient light conditions while C9 does not. CX have overall better dynamic tone mapping CX have lower input lag for gamers CX can reach much higher in peak brightness CX have dolby vision IQ which the C9 doesn't CX have new filmmaker mode which the C9 doesn't

I figured if it was a huge deal, I could just move my C9 to my bedroom and get the latest and greatest for the living room then. Saving the extra money felt worth it as well. I think in the next few years QLEDs may actually overshadow OLEDs due to contrast ratio constantly improving and winning out in the brightness category. I consistently find brightness to be a factor with exception to when the room is dark.

Please check the near-black chrominance overshoot. The 2018 and 2019 models only have that software work-around (more dithering and avoiding using the white pixel for dark greys, and it was discovered too late to fix for the 2019 panels). Now, 2020 should be the first chance for this to be *fixed in hardware at the panel level*. Stacey Spears has created a very good test pattern for this (at my suggestion) for his next disc update, which I'm sure he'd give you if you asked him. The question won't be "does it happen much" but "is it completely eliminated"? Ta.

Vincent, could you please have a look at the impact of the BFI on the blacklevel? We have reports on out german hifi forum from users, that the right blacklevel will change with an active BFI. You will need to change it from 50/51 to 60 to get rid of black crush when you activate BFI, but then the blacks are slighty elevated. I‘m also interested in: 2) BFI Motion impressions and maybe negative side effects of BFI 3) motion and upscaling performance compared to latest Sony Oleds, maybe cinema clear performance 4) Autocal and new pattern generator pipeline performance 5) QMS and ALLM support? 6) near black performance, screen uniformity 7) performance feature upgrades / downgrades to C9 (like lost Dts support, picture quality, motion performance without motionn compensation and bfi)

Is there any way you could do a video on console gaming with a 4K VRR TV? What is the real advantage to a 4K vrr TV? I'm struggling to see what the point in VRR from 48hz to 60 hz is when most higher end games run at 30 FPS. Most of the high end games don't REALLY run at 4K either. Would it be possible to run destiny or some other popular 1st person shooter on 1 4K set with VRR at 4K then on the same 4K set running at 1080P with no VRR? Can you actually tell any difference real time at all?
@XDLugia
@XDLugia 4 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that VRR goes from 40 to 60 and 40-120Hz on this TV. The Xbox One family of consoles already support VRR through FreeSync (which this TV supports) and the Xbox Series X will support both FreeSync and HDMI VRR. I'm pretty sure the PS5 will support VRR/FreeSync as well. The advantage of using VRR on console is pretty much limited to games that don't reach 60 all the time, but stay above 40. Destiny 2 is 30 FPS, so no difference there, but a game like Call of Duty could benefit from this. This feature is basically built with next gen consoles in mind and not the current gen, considering next gen will have a lot more games running at 4k resolution at 60 FPS, with some (like Dirt 5) even reaching 120 FPS. If you plan on using VRR solely for a current generation console, then I'd say that there is very little point in investing in such a TV.

10-bit panel for the win! honestly, the controversy of 48Gbps bandwidth seems dumb to me. the panel is 10-bit so you are getting the most you can with 40Gbps bandwidth anyways. all i care about is display lag and inkyness of black level. will buy this series when on clearance sales.

It matter for PC gamers. NVIDIA cards dont output 10 bit color@4:4:4, only 8 or 12bit. CX owner wont be able to do 4k@120 4:4:4 12bit because of the HDMI limitation on the CX, and they cant do 4k@120 4:4:4 10bit because NVIDIA doesnt allow it to be set.

@@saiyanzzrage So why aren't we mad at NVIDIA instead for not supporting 4k@120 4:4:4 10bit over displayport, but not HDMI. Sounds like an easy software fix that they should be able to implement.

I am thinking about buying this as a giant PC monitor. Since I use my PC for gaming mostly, I am curious about low latency, 120 fps gaming and how good G-sync support is. I would like if you could dive deeper into this
@bricodepot1987
@bricodepot1987 4 жыл бұрын
Latency : 12-13 ms in 4k 60. 6-7 ms in QHD120 or 4k 120 4.2.0 . Gsync is working no problems with RTX cards. ( or gtx 16xx . Just make sure to use animated wall paper and hide Windows bar :) and then your good to go for 2 - 3 years before seeing any kind of burn in.

chucco who cares for oled on a PC gaming setup and pg32uqx is mini led which can completely turn of sections of the screen to give oled like black levels and that HDR1400 will have far more noticeable effect on picture quality then oled and 32inches is sufficiently big enough for a desk setup some might say even to big not to forget the glorious 144hrz refresh rate.

@@kingyogesh441 32 inch is to small for me. I want something to game and watch movies on. Currently I use the Acer Z35p (1440p). Also I want an Oled. If the screen is to big for some games, I could use them in windowed mode. And if the screen is 4k, the ppi wouldn't be so bad.

Thanks for another great video! If possible, it would like you to test the TV for use as a normal PC monitor but not for gaming but for work. Like quality of text rendering, brightness, ABL etc. I think many users consider the 48" for that purpose (including gaming)

Dynamic Contrast gets a lot of hate, but I think it has come a long way. I test it for about 80% of the things I watch and in a large majority of cases it increases brightness and pop without increasing black level or reducing shadow detail. Granted there are some cases where it does reduce detail, but it is worth testing anyway. I'm not one who thinks accuracy is the only objective though. If it can look better without losing details I will usually go that option.

EXTREMELY curious how 120Hz BFI looks for gaming content. I love my C9 so much, but sample-and-hold still makes 120hz FPS games seem more blurry when moving around fast than they are. I would love to know if BFI solves this.
