I have played with every setting over and over again on my G1. My HDR10 and Dolby Vision content always seemed weird to me. I could never see the big deal with HDR. I then turned the color upgrade to high and now I am loving what I see. It is more balanced, much better clarity and depth. I do not see over saturation or any weird color anomalies. I am very happy with this TV after adjusting the the color upgrade. Cinema Home. DV IQ on. Brightness high. All motion settings off. Warm 50. Color fine tune upgrade high. HDR10 settings the same as DV except for light sensor off and tone mapping off. Works for me.

Tomas it's not rocket science for the average consumer if they just bother to do some simple research. Turn off all the artificial processing like digital noise reduction, edge enhancement etc. And use the Filmmaker picture mode to get a accurate picture when watching blu ray, 4K blu ray, movies on Amazon Prime, Disney+, Netflix. But if your spending £3000 or more on a flagship television like the LG G1, Sony A90J, Panasonic JZ2000. Then a extra £150 to get the television properly calibrated is definitely worthwhile.

Eric Beeckmans posted measurements of a 65G1 and said that it peaks at "typically" 740 and "up to" 780 nits in filmmaker mode. But Vincent seems to think that the G1 will be 800+ nits and stomp all over the A80J that is probably using the exact same panel. I guess we'll see what he measures them at. I think you'll need either an A90J or a Panasonic 2000 if you really want to see an appreciable increase in brightness from a C9/CX. The new panel by itself does not appear to be game-changing, although it will provide some improvement even at high APL.
@lvlechanicalMan3 жыл бұрын
@EVOVIISWE It's already confirmed that the A90J has it, and there is absolutely no reason to believe that the A80J doesn't. All of you people who for some reason believed that the LGD was making a new panel for ONE model of TV were wrong, but I'm not going to keep arguing about it. Keep listening to Zohn or whoever you're listening to. He's wrong. BTW, I just saw another G1 measurement: 736.7 nits by Lee Neikirk. So two nearly identical measurements. Oh, and it hits 170 full field -- like exactly the same as the A90J. Wow, what a coincidence.
@lvlechanicalMan3 жыл бұрын
@EVOVIISWE I trust D-Nice's information on the A90J and his confirmation that it has the new panel. FWIW, my belief that the A80J has it is largely based on the measurement of the A80J that was taken at the China demo, where we also got the first measurement of the A90J. The new panel apparently has a cooler native color temp, which I believe explains why these models with the new panel are measuring so much brighter in Vivid than models with the old panel. The A80J was measured at ~1000 nit in Vivid on a 10% window, and I think the retail units are going to be the same. Of course, it will be much lower at D65, but my point is that this points to it having the new panel. You should keep in mind that the G1 and A80J are nearly the same price. And even if I'm right about the A80J, the G1 will probably be brighter, since LGs have been in the past. But in terms of cost, I simply don't think it's expensive to buy these panels. I think the new panels are more plentiful and affordable than people were assuming they would be. Anyway, LGE has to buy the panels basically just like Sony does, and we're talking about models (the G1 and A80J) that are extremely close in price.

It would be interesting to get your perspective on the reflection characteristics in different ambient lighting conditions during your review of the G1. Many thanks. This is typically overlooked and not mentioned during reviews, including many so far for LG 2021 Evo and the Sony A90J.

Looking forward to your full review and opinion on this model! (as it’s on my wish list) all I’d want to know is does the evo panel make a difference? how does it perform gaming and with 4K Blu-ray? And soundbar connectivity in regards to compatibility will I need to upgrade a 2018/2019 model (Sony HT-ZF9) Look forward to more of your videos and puns 🙌🏼

Is turning off the energy saving harmful for the pixels? Could it increase the risk of burn in? Thank you for your excellent videos!

It can be harmful on an OLED panel if you are an avid user, and leave it on a static screen for an extended period of time. So if you are a sports/news channel fan, it is something you must be careful of, but, there are settings to reduce risk of burn-in excluding the “Eco” preset.

So is it better than the C9 CX the G1 certainly probably not on par with Sony A90J.
@kingyogesh4413 жыл бұрын
It is technically superior to A90j as A90j does not have the new evo panel .

Hi, I think it would be great if you make a video about TV calibration, how to get reasonable result in reasonable time etc. Thank you

I would like a full walkthrough of the new menu. It looks terrible. So I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Vincent can you test if BFI is improved and doesn't crush shadow detail? It seems to do it again when you put it on low but who knows. Thanks.
