I would love to see somebody do a NGD for Ted Woodford's '50's LP JR restoration! The seller is asking a lot, but I and many others feel like it's far more valuable than a never touched example as the effort was monumental and expert in giving the Junior another shot at life. I'm sure the seller would take a reasonable offer as well. Ted's work on it is documented on his channel and is a must watch for anybody interested in guitars even slightly. If nothing else, maybe Ted will get an honorable mention in a future Trogly drop.

To me, his documented and lovingly restored LP jr would be worth more than one from the same year that sat in a closet for decades. Older guitars to me have value in the hands that worked on them, played them, and repaired them so to have that record is amazing. Obviously lots of folks would feel different :)

I just received my Christmas gift for myself. It is a brand new Gibson Les Paul Junior in dark walnut. It is a signature Charlie Starr back from Japan. I had to wait two weeks but did get it before Christmas, I am not disappointed.

I much prefer nickel hardware on a Les Paul Custom. Gold flakes when it wears and just doesn’t look as good in my opinion.

Austin asked about the preference between Nickel or Gold Hardware, I'm of the opinion that a Les Paul Custom looks stunningly beautiful with either. Really Nice, enjoy your new guitar. Back in the late 1990s my Wife surprised me with a Les Paul Custom, all these years later I still grin with approval when I open the case to play it. I hope that is the same with you.

Merry Christmas. I've really been enjoying this channel lately. I've got a cherry burst Les Paul Studio Custom from the early 80s. It's got the Shaw pickups, gold hardware, black pick guard and pickup rings, and a dotted fretboard. My brother was the original owner and he just wasn't playing it. That guitar made me a Les Paul fan for life.

My 1979 LP Custom is just like this, nickel hardware. Speed knobs. Exactly the same. I've got cream pickup rings in it now, something that happened with multiple pickup swaps in the 80s. At some point, the original pickups went bqk in but the rings did not.

I love nickel hardware Customs For me, gold hardware is gaudy. It's far more often used in a way that's gross and ironically really poor-looking. If its a gold top, that's cool Notre Dame's helmet... it works for them, and it looks good. But gold hardware often reminds me of gross over-the-top gold, gold plated, gold paint, gold foil. Vulgar. Nickel, silver, platinum... are classy. Clean. Tasteful.

😄 That 30th Anniversary Gold Top is a buyer who must know how to calm his wife down! Or will we see this in an Estate Sale? Best of luck Dude.... Every time I see Ol' Smokie or guitars that hevaily tarnished with nicotine stain I just start getting a headache presuming the odour it must have. I used to smoke 20+ years ago, but every time now, someone walks past me who is a heavy smoker, I get a little nauseous and start getting a headache.

Nickel hardware is better coordinated when new. Love it. Would hold up over time better on an Epiphone since they have poly lacquer.

I swapped the nickel hardware from my blue LP Studio with the gold hardware from my white LP custom and I think they both look better now haha

Nickel hardware on a Custom is cool, but it looks a bit too plain imo and kind of cheapens the guitar. I think it worked amazingly well on the Moonless Night, though.

I had an early eigthies black LPC with chrome hardware that I bought new in, you guessed it, the early eighties. :-) I wear gold off pretty quickly, so I like chrome better.

I paid $225 in '85 for an SG Deluxe with Bigsby, 2 scratchplates, embossed chrome humbuckers block inlays on rosewood board.. I would've offered $300 for yours even though it's a basic Standard..... did I miss out? 👀
