Waving hi from Seattle❤ In the mid 90s i rented a house with friends through their friends. The backyard was completely overgrown and taken over by English ivy and blackberries. We did most of the work by hand because you know starving student and we didnt own the house so we werent making and investment in tools. Thankfully towards the end of the work a neighbor loaned us their brush cutter. We finished in 2 days what had taken over a month. We layered the entire area with cardboard about 3in deep then free wood chips from the tree trimmers in the area. Leveled out the yard. Turned into beautiful compost over winter. We never got to fully realize all of our work. The owners decided they could get more rent after we cleaned up the yard. ❤❤❤

Wonderful job as always! It is truly amazing to me to see what looks like years of overgrowth trimmed and making an open, clean area. Thank you for letting us see the transformation.

These are a constant on your site, Blackberries. Where is this area(State). Is that your norm for your situation.

This is Washington state and it’s an ongoing issue here.

I have woods on my mountain top land filled with small fist size to large bolders. The land probably hasnt been maintained in 15years, fallen trees, various trash, blackberry bushes vines etc. Would you recommend the fs 516 trimmer? If so what type of setup. I have fs 130 I run heavy string but its difficult to cut things with it. Thank you in advance

1hr 2hr 3hr I would gladly pay to have someone else do that job. I would feel bad if it took a good chunk of time simply because I know that's some tough work. 👍🏻 Keep up the good work
@mrsean19993 ай бұрын
I have a steep hillside covered with blackberries. Do you usually leave the cuttings on the ground as mulch? Thinking of carting away the clippings is an impediment (mentally) to attacking this job.
@golovinpropertyservices3 ай бұрын
Depending on the size of the project. In this case it would have taken 4-7 hours to clean-up the debris working non-stop. There is a lot of material here and usually the cost to clean-up makes the project a lot more expensive. The finer you cut up the clippings the faster they should go away as other vegetation grows up.
@mrsean19993 ай бұрын
@@golovinpropertyservices in other words: it’s okay to leave clippings? That’s great to hear.

Will landscaping tarp and heavy mulch/hay keep them from returning?
@golovinpropertyservices3 ай бұрын
It would be best to spray weed killer and a heavy dosage of it before covering it up with the tarp. If there is no weed killer sprayed then there is a 75% chance they will break through the tarp.

Do you consider buying a brush hog, or would that just get tangled when brambles are that high and tangled?
@golovinpropertyservices3 ай бұрын
A brush hog would work, I’ve recently seen it done. But before that I was told it wouldn’t work. I don’t want the extra hassle of having to maintain more equipment at the moment. I don’t have much room or time for that at the moment.
@tecnik9993 ай бұрын
@@golovinpropertyservices yeah seems like a good call, equipment is great but can be a massive money and time sink too. That trimmer you work with does a might fine job anyway 👍
@golovinpropertyservices3 ай бұрын
@@tecnik999 I agree, I make upgrades but I take them at a little slower pace. Sometimes it works out better sometimes I regret not doing it earlier. But I try to take risks when I know I won't be putting myself in potential jeopardy.

Soon it's time to upgrade and get that excavator and skid-steer, or you'll be doing this till retirement age. Hire some Mexicans for manual labor. Think big.
