For those out there that are curious, there are a bunch of leather jacket makers (Aero Leather, Simmons Bilt) who make made to measure (they adjust their template for you, rather than make it from scratch) jackets in the leather that you can choose e.g. horse, calf, goat etc. Very high quality that is more than good enough for 95% of us, and will last decades, the only thing with the two I mentioned is that their jackets are more of a classic style. They cost US$800+, but remember that you get what you pay for - cheap price (brand new, not discounted) means cheap leather.
@freedomlifemake257910 ай бұрын
so is the simmons bilt leather good? I want to buy my first "quality" leather jacket from them. Their prices seem good, I cant afford a 2k euro jacket right now. What would be the difference between a Simmons bilt and a 2-3k jacket?

Glad I stumbled across this video to see I'm not alone in this leather addiction. I'm 71 and have been a leather jacket nut since my teens. I thought I was overdoing it by having 22 leather jackets, about 10 of them are Schott which are my favorite jackets. About 10 years ago I had a goatskin riding jacket custom made by Langlitz in Portland, OR that was incredible. Some douchbag stole it at a biker rally. Last winter I got into sheep shearling coats and jackets by Overland and have 5 of them now, they are amazing. I really like lambskin and have 5 or 6 of them. Last winter I was running out of closet space and boxed up about 20-25 jackets that were cheap stuff and odds and ends but it did include some special edition Harley Davidson jackets and took them all to Goodwill.

Fortunately I live in the tri state area and attend Schott’s annual factory sale. Big time discounts but you have to arrive early. I’m on my 3rd leather jacket currently. I have their navy peacoat and several shirts too. My sister lucked out. She got as a gift to my nephew a jacket that normally cost $800 for $80. There was a minor blemish (slight scratch barely noticeable) on chest of jacket. It was a sick deal.

Simmons Bilt makes Real McCoy quality leather jackets at the price of (and typically lower than) Schott.
