He actually "is" part of the reason they were so bad this year, offenses were targeting him more because he was bad. He had more tackles than "his" previous years because they were targeting him as a weak link in the offense so more opportunities to tackle.

Niners fan here. D’Vondre has not had a good season. Sure he’s second on the team in tackles, but he’s only that high up because teams go at him. Terrible in tackles pass coverage, too slow to cover anyone (even TE’s), run schemes go right at him because they know they can either run around him or through him. Campbell is not good.

As a Washington fan, this season reminds me of the season that Alex Smith had that terrible leg injury. It derailed what was shaping into a decent season for us. The same is happening in SF now with CMC, BA and other injuries. The 49ers are foolish if they fire Shannahan injuries are not his fault. However, piss poor attitude and not having a team mentality is. Campbell is showing the league that he is a selfish child, basically pouting and having a tantrum because he didn't get his way. I highly doubt that any team will want him at this point because if you're a teammate of his you're going to always be asking yourself if the dude has your back. Shanahan is one of the best coaches in the game. Everybody has down years, so I don't fault him. What I will say is that Purdy isn't the future. He's a regular QB. The contracts they paid caused a lot of this falloff, but it isn't the end. Deebo's time as a star is nearly over. They need to reload as the Rams are doing. Look at the Rams. SB team is mostly gone, but they kept the best and drafted well. Good coaches need fresh infusions of talent. My Steelers are showing this right now. New O-line, and new DB and LB talent and Tomlin is in the SB conversation. The Niners will return soon, but they need a fresh infusion of good picks to give them energy.

I'm prefacing what I'm about to say with I am a Seahawks fan. Much like Cowboys fans and Eagles fans don't get along, neither do Seahawks and 49ers fans. That said, I was frustrated the other night at Deebo for 49ers fans. Dude dropped the ball so much during that game. It's clear that there are some players in that 49ers locker room that have checked out. Shanahan can say he hasn't lost anybody in the locker room but it's clear that he has. Campbell and Deebo are just two examples. Yes, Shanahan still has Purdy and Aiyuk and CMC, but he's losing the depth of the roster, and right now, the 49ers need all the help they can get, even though their season is already likely over.

That move was so illogical and counter-productive to himself that it makes me wonder if Campell has some Antonio Brown-like mental health problem.
