In today's vlog we hang out at home and chat with you guys for a bit about the new swaddle we hope to try soon. Thank you to everyone who left suggestions in the comments!! Also we mentioned a tiktok strawberry cleaning hack we saw but we didn't actually get to try it out in this vlog. We'll make the strawberry shortcake and try out the cleaning hack in the next home vlog though for sure!! We also talk about the new camera we'll be trying out soon, we can't wait for it to come in the mail! We also talk about the sleep issues we're still having with Jackson, we hope things will start to even out soon with his sleep regression. Then we show you how Jackson can sit up now! It was so exciting to see how fast he's progressing but it's also bittersweet because we don't want him to grow up too fast. We know he can't stay a little baby forever but it's just happening too quick! We also start trying out carrots for our baby led weaning journey. He doesn't seem to like carrot at all lol. He's better when they're pureed but when we give them to him steamed soft and whole, he's not really a fan. We're proud of him for how well he's doing with solid foods though! Then we take a quick walk with him before the rain comes in. We start dinner afterwards, we had the most delicious pork schnitzel and warm potato and cabbage salad. It was seriously one of the best recipes we've tried from Marley Spoon. We'll definitely be making this one again! Then we end the night by showing you the awesome gift we got from our friends over and the new masks that we hope to have in our merch shop! We'll let you know how the quality is after we test them out for a bit before putting them in the shop permanently. Thank you for hanging out with us at home today! Thank you for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!!

Mom of 3 here, although my third is 6 weeks younger than Jackson, and it sounds like maybe he’s ready to sleep in his own room. My second was like this and he slept so much better once he moved to his crib. The first week will be tough, but probably more tough for you than it is for him. You just gotta leave him alone and he’ll figure out how to soothe himself.

Great point. I did the same with both my girls, they were such big babies at birth. Too big for bassinets so I moved them to the crib. Enjoy that new baby. As you know they grow so fast. My babies are 28 and 23😭😭😭

He’s probably stomping his feet for sensory input and to soothe himself. Agreed that it’s nothing to worry about. A lot of babies bang their heads, so it could be worse!

I think Tim and Jen seem open to advice. They are good parents and will figure out what works for them. Sometimes you don’t realize what you should’ve done differently until much later! I definitely realized how much I blew it when I had my second!

Jackson is a big boy. He will sleep better in his crib. He needs the space to learn how to get comfortable and be able to move around and put himself to sleep.Doesn't need to be swaddled.Babies adapt better than us parents do. I know it's hard but he will be okay.

In fact u do it from day one as a newborn baby its easier when they are a newborn baby to put themselves to sleep, I also hear people saying my baby sleeps for 12 hours straight at 8 weeks old which is total BS b/c babies need a feed or two in the middle of the night, (no one stays asleep all night, I wake up when I move in bed) most of us wake up in the middle of the night we learnt how to put ourselves back to sleep, a baby needs to teach themselves how to go to sleep from day one.

I agree! Our baby was waking herself up hitting the edges of the bassinet. Once we moved her to her crib she slept so much better.

A dietician told me that it takes 20 times for them to know if they actually like a food or not, so the next time he might enjoy carrots or be indifferent :) She also recommended letting them have choice during meals by providing 2-3 food items. They’ll often go back to the food they aren’t enjoying as much after exploring the other food. Hope you’re having fun baby led weaning, it can be so stressful but so amazing 🥰

I was a preschool teacher for 3 years (would sub teach in the infant room) and currently a social worker (also babysat A LOT) and at 3 months I would put infants in their cribs and they self-soothe themselves to sleep. Yes sometimes they cry but it only lasts 5-10 minutes. Just put Jackson in a crib in his own room and he will learn to self-soothe to sleep

When he gets in a crib, you should also let him chill in it a while. After he woke up, my son stayed in his crib for at least an hour. He played with some toys, and just kinda chilled. Running in the second he wakes up will bite you in the keister.

I did baby led weaning with both of my girls. I joined a baby led weaning group on Facebook and got a ton of great advice on there. One of the most important things about baby led weaning is that you feed baby what you are eating during your mealtimes. This gives him an example of how to eat. We did a lot of pasta with them when we were first starting out. Scrambled eggs were also a big hit with them. The main key is to cut everything in pieces big enough that they can grab it and work on their pincer grasp but in non throat sized shapes. So if you’re doing round things like grapes, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, etc you want to quarter them. With longer stuff like hot dogs or anything like that they should be quartered and cut finger length and not in small pieces because the smaller pieces are harder to grab and easier to get stuck in their throat. I loved doing baby led weaning with my girls because it meant that I got to actually eat while my food was hot rather than worrying about feeding the baby then finally eating my food cold. It was so nice to be able to cook just one thing and give them some and just keeping an eye on them!

He may sleep better if he had more room...he sounds like he is ready for his crib. You also have to let babies self-soothe....just don’t go in right away when he wakes up. Give him 10 min to allow him to go back to sleep on his own. After 10 minutes if he doesn’t go back to sleep, then go get him. That’s what I did when my sons were little. I hope these tips help 💕👍🏼

I'm with you Tim; I enjoy buying things more than I should. Jackson is stinking adorable, as usual; his response to the carrot puree vs. the "solid" pieces could be the ingrained response to the spoon feeding, as opposed to the flavor itself... which would also explain why he spits out the puree after a little bit, once he's had time to process the flavor. The little goofball!

Hey - the turns at sleep deprivation, and being awake is called being good parents, and great partners!! Poor Jackson - hope he gets his groove back soon! Tim "Ugh, Sally". ROTFL!!!!!! I hear you, Tim, with all sorts of things - something will be perfect, except for "that ONE thing" for me too! Ugh!!! Getting the pickle (yes - refrigerator pickles!) recipe from your own vlog is GENIUS!!! LOVE it! :) Jose Andres is a magnificent human being - he is always SO involved in all kinds of humanitarian relief, like you said. He also encourages other chefs/food/restaurant industry to become involved also. Yay, sitting up Jackson!!!!! :) :) Thank you SO much for sharing his life, and milestones with us - always makes my face, and my heart - smile SO big! :) He did look so "cool dude" with his shades on! :) That German dinner looked SOOOOOO good, make me miss the Biergarten! When I was a kid, my friend's Mom made warm German potato salad with the vinegar and bacon in it - her hubby was from Germany, and taught her - it was SOOOOOOO good, I have never found anything close to it ever again! Thinking of it now., drooling!!! Sweet necklace, have seen them advertised. Socially distanced hugs to both of you, and Jackson. Stay strong, stay positive, stay healthy!!

You guys are doing great with the baby led weaning. I did something similar to what your doing. Let them have the steamed food and puree some of it. One baby preferred the homemade puree, the other the solids. To me what was important is that they eat real food. Not processed junk. I'm so happy to see you starting him on good foods.😃👍 Good job Mom and Dad! As a side note, something that helped my active baby boy sleep well, was taking him on a short swim a few days a week close to bedtime. That helped soothe him at his cranky time and tired him out. Jackson is adorable and I love seeing him smile everyday!

Just a suggestion; what about transitioning him away from the swaddle and moving him to his own room. Either of those are big transitions, but may have a huge impact on him for the better.

I can see that some people commented about moving him to his nursery and I agree 100%. My daughter is about a month older than him and she still stomps, but she doesn’t wake us up because her mattress on her crib is a lot softer and it doesn’t make as much noise. She only started sleeping through the night once we moved her. Also he may cry a bit in between cycles, so don’t go right away to help him, wait a couple of mins and let him try to comfort himself. Another idea, consider giving him a very small lovey so he can rub it on his face and comfort him! All of these things helped us, but please do what works for you guys! Much love ❤️

Move him to his own room. All of my 3 boys transitioned to their own rooms at 2 months and they were sleeping through the night around 4 months.

Hi Tim & Jenn! Jackson is so adorable. Before you know it, he will be getting into your kitchen cabinets and banging on your pots and pans☺ Are you guys going to the Disney Store now that they are opened ?

Time to be mindful of him standing up. Sides up on his bed. One day without warning you will find him standing in his crib. Mine did at about 6 to 7 months. He is strong and doing extremely well. Love watching him gtow.

Okay can we just talk about how adorable Jackson's little hand/knuckle dimples are! Soooo cute! One of my favorite baby things haha. He was the coolest dude with his sunglasses😎. And yes it is INSANE how fast they grow and change. It's such a bittersweet thing to watch your child grow. I mean you of course want them to grow and flourish but there's that little ache in your heart the further and further away they are from being a baby, then toddler, then young child, preteen, teen and then adult... 😭 Haha... I'm such a sap but my son is 16 and I'm in awe of him and the thoughtful, funny, good natured young man he is but I do miss those baby days. Hang on tight to these awesome moments and milestones with Jackson. You guys are awesome parents. Huge hugs and love to you all xoxo ❤️

Since Jackson is six months old now, he needs less sleep during the day. Babies generally have two naps and then transition to one nap after a year old. Make sure his last nap is not too close to bedtime. He will also benefit sleeping in his own crib. There will hopefully be a day when you can lay him down in his crib awake and he will fall asleep on his own! Good luck!

Just my humble opinion. With my firstborn, I did the same thing. Every time he woke, I would come to the rescue whether it was for food or for soothing. I thought I was doing the best thing. I did this until he was 9 or 10 months and my (experienced) baby sitter told me that I had to let him figure out how to soothe himself back to sleep. Some parents do this and some don't. You have to read up on it or continue losing sleep.

My daughter is the same way about carrots. I think it’s a texture thing. Even though they’re soft, they’re kind of stringy and sinewy and the super smooth mush that a banana, avocado, or sweet potato is. Eventually, if you’re comfortable with canned carrots that might work better because they’re a little mushier.

Can't believe it's been over a year since you found out you guys were pregnant, to Jackson being born, and now Jackson being 6 months old. Unbelievable how time flies. It was cool he was able to go to the magic kingdom and meet Mickey before this quarantine. A true miracle.

Hello Trackers! You can use the Boppy to help Jackson sit up. My youngest loved hers and used it as her pillow until she was about 10. She is 18 now and graduating high school this year.

So first time mom here and baby is now 6 months and honestly I was disappointed that I did not get much use out of the boppy. My baby dosent like it to help sit up. Prefers to lean on regular body pillow. I bought it thinking it would be a life saver and it wasnt. Couldn't breastfeed for more than a month and it still wasnt helping during that time. I'm a smaller woman 4'11 so I believe it might be that it was too high for my torso. My husband got more use out of it during cuddle time. If I had known I probably wouldve bought it. Not criticizing the boppy just didnt work for us 😞

Try his crib. If you don’t want him in his room yet move his crib into your room. My 8 month old is in his crib in our room, but he sleeps so much better! Our pedi. recommended rocking his to sleep then just before he falls asleep putting him in his bed so then they get use to falling asleep fully in their bed. It helped so much! PS you guys are doing so amazing! My first was just winging it LOL! You guys are amazing parents.

I don't put garlic skins in my cooking, but I also haven't manually peeled a clove of garlic in like 3 years. I learned that if you just put a clove of garlic on the board and squish it with the heel of your palm, it basically peels itself. The papery stuff separates off of the clove and you just pull it away.

Definitely try the crib. But do what you are comfortable with. They will wake up and learn to go back to sleep. It wont last forever, the next phase is right around the corner.
